The crisis in Ukraine is what inspired me to make this series of videos, but the applicability of the information goes way beyond Ukraine.
Every single home in Europe should be equipped with a back-up, off-grid, combustion heating solution. The cost is relatively low, and when you need it, you *really* need it.

      Where are you from?
Cause Europe doesn't seem to have any issues with heating nowadays..except Ukraine of course. We survived the biggest energy crisis in decades, and we have a reliable supplier in the US...
The cost of backups is low, but the chances of needing it are almost non existent, unless you live in areas prone to natural disasters (flooding, heavy snowfall or ice, hurricane winds etc...).

      @@akacicaa I'm from the EU
It's true that the systems are reliable in the Union, but I'm not confident about how they would fare outside of peacetime. If you remember the Colonial Pipeline crisis in the US about 3 years ago, that was a Russian-sponsored cyberattack on NATO soil that left large parts of the USA without gasoline and jet fuel. And who knows how our air defense would fare if Russia did decide to send their missiles further west? Ukraine is likely better defended than most NATO territory, and Kyiv city definitely is, yet missiles still occasionally make it through

The best way to filter lots of used oils is to spin it clean. A strong centerfuge can even sepirate out any water from the oil.

Standards and codes are written in the blood of those that perished in accidents. I would strongly recommend finding a Standard online for how to correctly install the exhaust away from doors/windows to prevent exhaust gases from being drawn back into the building.
Note required clearances from flammable materials or others that may offgas from excessive heat.
I'm really keen to try one of these heaters but I would rather install it in a detached enclosure away from the house with various gas sensors/protection mechanisms for saftey.

If the oil burner is installed the way I described it, with ducted combustion air coming straight from the outdoors, it shouldn't create any pressure differential
I emphasized air flows a lot more in the previous video, because wood stoves use indoor air for combustion, and a wood fire also can't be turned off quickly, so the risk there is very high, but here it's a lot more manageable
You're right though, safety should be high on the priority list.

The chinese oil heater exhaus can be ran through a hydronic heat radiator battery panel to recover significantvwaste heat. From heater exhaust into the top of the water radiator panel exhaust coming out the bottom then being safely vented outdoors.

Have you explored biodigesters for methane production?

Yeah, but they are very big compared to the amount of energy you get, and I don't think they'll produce hardly anything in the winter without a special enclosure to keep them warm
They might be fun in the long term, but I don't think they're very helpful in the short and medium term
