This is such an awesome thing going on here! I love all the astronomy bits in here. I spent many nights as a teenage lying in the grass and staring up at the night sky and that never stopped. Well, I'm not on the grass anymore, but I'm still looking up! 😆 I like hearing when anyone questions why we in the present day think that ancient people couldn't have been intelligent enough to figure out how to do things (like the counting of time via the night sky). The patterns were and are there for anyone willing to see. Also, the Umbilicus Hibernia… I’m over here with my mind blown with that whole part of the conversation. I’m even a bit misty eyed about it all, and now I’ve got to go make supper so I’ll have to finish the rest tomorrow.
Just a wonderful interview. I loved how you gently guided the path of this lovely interview and Anthony Murphy is a treasure hold of information. Glad to see I'm not the only one who isn't crazy about all the violence in the Táin. I've read it all, but now when I go to read it I sort of skip those bits. Also, Philip Freund's Myths of Creation is now on my giant books wish list. 😆 Also, bless Dave and his camera.
Dave actually set up two camera angles for us, but in the two years since we recorded this, t'other was....misplaced 😅 This really was so much fun to do!
At about 21 minutes, that should have been Bob and ANNE Hickey, the custodians of Newgrange. I got confused with Elizabeth Hickey, who was an author who wrote "I Send My Love Along the Boyne", a beautiful book about Newgrange and the Boyne Valley.
I totally fangirled, despite having met Anthony a couple times before this. I brought a bag of Dundalk's finest buns like some kind of offering. I relaxed a bit as I watched him inhale one. I realised he's just a bun-fan like the rest of us 😂
Not sure if ye've seen this talk but there's a visual of the 5 roads in one of his slides, and he also goes into the different categories and maintenence requirements of roads from Brehon era laws. ruclips.net/video/ifNNT1MUsJc/видео.htmlsi=fqlilihPJKwqWAOr
Two of my favorite creators together ❤

I mean, 2.5hrs is a pretty long interview.....but if it hadn't got visibly dark outside I'd still be there asking him questions 😂
