Lord Jesus I come to you now in a state of repentance.
I know that I have not been living my life the way that I should be as a Christian.
I am so grateful for the grace that You have given me as Your child.
Lord, grant me the strength to overcome the ways of this world and to turn to You in all situations.
Help me to know You more and to desire to walk with You.
I choose today to re-commit to living my life as a follower of Jesus and to turn away from the ways of the world.
I pray that you will honor my prayer and that you Holy Spirit will grant me the strength to overcome in my day to day life.

Tony Evans Bible commentary 4:7-8. Timothy wants to have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths- that is, popular, speculative, fables, and biblical stories that have no basis and reality and no positive effect on one’s life. Instead, he was to train himself in godliness.(4:7). Godliness.- becoming more like God, in actions, attitudes, character, and conduct.- should be the Christians goal. Listening to silly mitts, produces nothing of value in a person‘s life, but the word of God produces godliness when obeyed. This, however, requires training and hard work. People are willing to pour extensive money and effort into physical training of the body, even though it has limited benefit. how much more, then, should we devote ourselves to training ourselves for godliness, which provides benefit for the present life and for the life to come? (4:8) Godliness provides a deeper experience of God’s reality at work in our lives. Our passion for and pursuit of spiritual growth should be greater than our drive to be physically fit. Our souls need a regular program. You don’t become godly by chance.

5. I don’t want to be coddled in my sin! I want to be feeling convicted!
