@@jaybanchero That is correct from all I read about it. The sub holds like 10 people so it is not small either. It has smaller tenders but Man of War is the largest and only one stored with the sub.
@@captainjim6300 sure seems like Paul's purchase of the Octopus really turbocharged the gigayacht business... Did for me anyway, from a fan perspective anyway. Would have loved to have met Paul. I rode up an elevator with him once - my work was in the same building as a company he was involved in - Starwave I believe. So sad he's not with us anymore... WWG1WGA!
@@jaybanchero It did when his was launched only 1 or at most 2 yachts in the world were bigger and both were owned by a King or Country if it was actually 2. Now his is maybe 10th or so in length but in tonnage and actual room inside I think it would probably be close to 3rd. The top is a new one for I think the Prince of Saudi Arabia and I think one is building or may be built for Qatar but not sure of exact size. I think it is for their ruler. I do not consider those private but both were built after the ones built to eclipse Octopus. The Russian Abramovich who is one of the wealthiest in the world has one only behind Azzam the Saudi Royal Family one which is rumored to have a military grade defense system so that will be top in cost. In fact even Abramovich's yacht has a defense system according to rumors, now what type who knows. Eclipse owned by Abramovich was 2nd it may or may not be anymore depending on the one for Qatar. I am not sure the size of Rising Sun but I think over 500 feet and Ellison could not find a good place to dock it other than for commercial shipping or anchor it out. I really seen no reason to have one bigger and more versatile than Octopus. It also has some great features in the Helicopter Hangar and what is essentially a dry dock in the stern for the sub and large tender and space for several more tenders including a Limo type tender which I think was made by same firm that made Man of War. It also had a recording studio on it. I was told by others that a portion of his crew were former Navy Seals and I would not doubt it but everything about most of the Yachts that size calls for anyone working on them to sign agreements not to disclose any private information about the Vessel, crew or owner. I know of a couple large lawsuits over info leaked and one was just the name. lol
You're right... AFAIK Azzam is the longest but a yacht called Dilbar is the biggest in terms of floor space. I bet that a boat with amenities like Octopus would be quite a place to hangout with friends for a week... Or a year!! Almost unimaginable. I've read that Paul was a pretty introverted guy. I've also read that he was an extremely nice person so I bet he was the happiest guy on Earth being able to share something like Octopus with his friends and family. What an accomplishment!

It's actually got what could be called a drydock. Amazing. It is built to hold the 60' Man 'O War tender and the submarine. It is not a catamaran.
