Having Tara live was brilliant and I can't believe I didn't consider it myself. Probably because not only is it rule of thumb that the first victim in a Scream movie IS the first victim, but because the only scenes of Jenna Ortega in the trailers and ads WERE from the opening. They did a VERY good job of hiding her.
Eh not really in the first trailer there was a shot of ghostface in the hospital and someone in a wheel chair so people were already theorizing that she could’ve been the first opening character to survive the opening sequence.

Ghostface popped off fr, and this movie truly solidified what being Ghostface means. If we're thinking critically about the movie, things like the back-and-forth between Dewey and Amber should have been pretty one-sided. Some of the strongest people I know in my life are female, but in this particular case Amber is very clearly a slender, younger girl who would not be able to overpower Dewey like that. But that's not what being Ghostface means. It doesn't matter who you are underneath, Ghostface is the frightening, unstoppable killer of legends. As soon as you put on the suit you gain the attributes worthy of a menacing Ghostface, no matter what your personal attributes are. And I love the fact that they decided to go that direction

Not sure why I skipped out on 4 and this 1 just seemed like too many years apart/away from the franchise. And I just remember the trilogy being about personal vengeance over Sydney’s mother’s mistake and moving on that it had to be taken out on Sydney herself. Somehow through those I feel like leaning into Stab movies as support kind of nullified some of the excitement/emotions or whatever. Though the idea of introducing at least 1/1st Stab movie felt like it an acceptable change of pace addition. But yeah, follow-ups within the franchise? Ehh….. I don’t know. Maybe. There’s just more messaging here than than I can really grasp/having trouble connect with. After, I believe this is the 1st series I’ve ever seen take this type of direction before.

Including a fictional series (Stab) that had so many sequels of decreasing quality that it ran itself into the ground makes a lot of sense, because that's what so many real life horror franchises did. The two glaring examples are the original Halloween series, and the Friday the 13th series. This movie is commenting on how so many franchises leave off on a bad note, the latest Friday the 13th movie to date isn't good, and the latest Halloween movie to date (prior to the David Gordon Green reboot) wasn't good either. Yeah the plot is indirectly driven by Stab 8, but it's more of a commentary on lackluster sequels being the precedent for higher quality reboots, and the dark side of fandom when it goes too far
I gotta say Tara did her best to fight back against GF. This prolly gotta be the most brutal opening though. That leg stomp sold it for me. 2's opening still my number 1 with this one right in second place

Tara attack was based on sidney’s attack from the original opening of scream 4 she was stabbed 8 times crawling across the floor Then the story jumped Two years later after she was attacked but thy reused this in this film.
That's scary that this happened to both of my friends. One died instantly from a stab to the heart because he was the bigger guy so the killer can have his fun with my friend. Stabbing him all the way down the escalator. Crazy coincidence was a bumped into his killer 5 years later and just got away.

I wasn't there that they but my buddies said the addict they went to see called 2 dealers at the same time which isn't cool. So my question is buddies roll up and the other dealer. He was in a position to Black BMW and had a young kid rolling along chilling with him. The addict ran to are car instead of his and bought 30 dollars of heroin, so this killing and the violence is simply over 30 dollars in but another factor was what created the fear in the killer. My wife and buddies decide to follow him and scare him. It happens a lot in Vancouver but rarely any shootings. So they followed him and he pulls over so my friends can stop next to his window and they see him putting on leather gloves so my wife buddies assumed he was gonna get a gun or a knife. They speed off. A year later I take over the area and my dad buddie that was driving following the other dealer left to go expand in Richmond with my friend that got stabbed in the heart quickly and died instantly. So they are both spreading there number around Richmond area but little did they know the dealer in the BLACK BMW was doing the same thing down in Richmond and was pissed off where he would go my friends would be there and take over cause we had the best drugs at the time. So I guess he decided he had to kill or he would never own a area. So he followed my friends around to Aberdeen Mall early in the mourning and cause my buddies just finished the mourning rush, like all dealers they go quickly eat. Both my buddies had to the food and court, it's was 12pm so the mall had no one inside only workers. They both get their food and sit down. Immediately some guy was sits down next to my buddies and looked at my buddie who followed him and said "YOU REMEMBER ME" My other question is buddy is just eating his food cause he doesn't know what's about to happen with cause the guy didn't talk in a threatening tone but a soft one. My dad buddy is totally confused to who he is and what he wants. Everything changes when he pulls out a large hunting knife out of his jacket and just quickly turns to the side and stabs my innocent friend in the heart. He died instantly clutching his heart. How I know this is the news showed the pictures on him lying on the ground with chairs and tables flipped over blood smeared everywhere. So after my buddy witnesses his Best Friend die like that he started to run as the killer is chasing him. My buddy skilllps and falls, which the killer stabbed him twice in the back than my buddy rolled around a kicked him in the face. My wife and buddy gets up and runs down the escalator and but stumbles so the killer catches up to him stabbing him 5 more times and runs off. He lost a kidney and survived. I'm not gonna tell how I bumped into his killer, unless someone wants to hear it and how I know about the whole incident is due to my own buddy surviving telling us. He said he never felt the stabbings even though the knife was large. I knew something was wrong when all his clients started calling me. That would mean he's not answering his phone or turned it off. By 2pm word got out and some idiots were saying it was the Russians. We must attack back or lose face reputation.
I thought I had seen Wednesday Addams before somewhere and once I realised I was absolutely floored. Never would I have thought someone could play such different characters.
Jenna’s scream when ghostface broke her ankle, she made us feel that. Scream queen. Also the little psycho music shreek when he does it is a nice touch
I didn't think it'd be up this soon but I'll first say this was very creative and a good start to a new thing. Scream always had a pair die in the opening and if Scream ever got 13 movies, that would be played out. Only the insane will expect the same thing to have different results. Casey was trying to make a run for it and you won't have good traction on grass if you're barefooted. Maureen already had a stab wound and sustained another one plus that theater was crowded so she couldn't exactly run away. Cotton was hit by a golf club in the head which under different circumstances might have knocked him out cold. Jenny was clearly panicked and if Jill or Charlie knew the place, cornering her was an option. Tara tried to barricade herself in the house and fended off Ghostface as long as she could with help on the way and plus Amber and Richie needed her alive for their plans anyways. As for the taste in movies, it calls back to Sidney as she didn't watch slashers due to lack of interest just like Tara didn't due to lack of interest. After all, not everyone watches fictional work for pure escapism and not all horror fans care only for the shock value and violence. It also shows the horror genre changed a lot since 2011 and even 1996.

i always come back to this opening for the hype. this was super fun, iconic and special to see in theaters. also the perfect ghostface comeback entry since the first. seriously wouldve went insane if released in 1997 instead of scream 2, and sam was the sister of billy 😭 it wouldve been perfect rather than sidney goes to college (i love scream 2) jenna's acting is just simply unmatched here. also, sza's JUST US was the perfect add on to the energy and such a throwback beat 👏🌟

This was such a great opening attack, feels just like I did when seeing the 1996 opening for the first time. First and last will always be my favorites

Jenna did a very good job at this scene, she genuinely looks like she’s actually getting stabbed this actually made me feel terrible after watching it, she did an absolutely fantastic job at this

This is probably the best openings out of all the movies. Of course Casey is an amazing opening but I wanted her to survive. They had the opening girl survive in this one so I’m very happy, it’s also very well done.

Tara attack was based on sidney’s attack from the original opening of scream 4 she was stabbed 8 times crawling across the floor Then the story jumped Two years later after she was attacked but thy reused this in this film.

That's scary that this happened to both of my friends. One died instantly from a stab to the heart because he was the bigger guy so the killer can have his fun with my friend. Stabbing him all the way down the escalator. Crazy coincidence was a bumped into his killer 5 years later and just got away.

I wasn't there that they but my buddies said the addict they went to see called 2 dealers at the same time which isn't cool. So my question is buddies roll up and the other dealer. He was in a position to Black BMW and had a young kid rolling along chilling with him. The addict ran to are car instead of his and bought 30 dollars of heroin, so this killing and the violence is simply over 30 dollars in but another factor was what created the fear in the killer. My wife and buddies decide to follow him and scare him. It happens a lot in Vancouver but rarely any shootings. So they followed him and he pulls over so my friends can stop next to his window and they see him putting on leather gloves so my wife buddies assumed he was gonna get a gun or a knife. They speed off. A year later I take over the area and my dad buddie that was driving following the other dealer left to go expand in Richmond with my friend that got stabbed in the heart quickly and died instantly. So they are both spreading there number around Richmond area but little did they know the dealer in the BLACK BMW was doing the same thing down in Richmond and was pissed off where he would go my friends would be there and take over cause we had the best drugs at the time. So I guess he decided he had to kill or he would never own a area. So he followed my friends around to Aberdeen Mall early in the mourning and cause my buddies just finished the mourning rush, like all dealers they go quickly eat. Both my buddies had to the food and court, it's was 12pm so the mall had no one inside only workers. They both get their food and sit down. Immediately some guy was sits down next to my buddies and looked at my buddie who followed him and said "YOU REMEMBER ME" My other question is buddy is just eating his food cause he doesn't know what's about to happen with cause the guy didn't talk in a threatening tone but a soft one. My dad buddy is totally confused to who he is and what he wants. Everything changes when he pulls out a large hunting knife out of his jacket and just quickly turns to the side and stabs my innocent friend in the heart. He died instantly clutching his heart. How I know this is the news showed the pictures on him lying on the ground with chairs and tables flipped over blood smeared everywhere. So after my buddy witnesses his Best Friend die like that he started to run as the killer is chasing him. My buddy skilllps and falls, which the killer stabbed him twice in the back than my buddy rolled around a kicked him in the face. My wife and buddy gets up and runs down the escalator and but stumbles so the killer catches up to him stabbing him 5 more times and runs off. He lost a kidney and survived. I'm not gonna tell how I bumped into his killer, unless someone wants to hear it and how I know about the whole incident is due to my own buddy surviving telling us. He said he never felt the stabbings even though the knife was large. I knew something was wrong when all his clients started calling me. That would mean he's not answering his phone or turned it off. By 2pm word got out and some idiots were saying it was the Russians. We must attack back or lose face reputation.

I didn't think it'd be up this soon but I'll first say this was very creative and a good start to a new thing. Scream always had a pair die in the opening and if Scream ever got 13 movies, that would be played out. Only the insane will expect the same thing to have different results.
Casey was trying to make a run for it and you won't have good traction on grass if you're barefooted. Maureen already had a stab wound and sustained another one plus that theater was crowded so she couldn't exactly run away. Cotton was hit by a golf club in the head which under different circumstances might have knocked him out cold. Jenny was clearly panicked and if Jill or Charlie knew the place, cornering her was an option. Tara tried to barricade herself in the house and fended off Ghostface as long as she could with help on the way and plus Amber and Richie needed her alive for their plans anyways.
As for the taste in movies, it calls back to Sidney as she didn't watch slashers due to lack of interest just like Tara didn't due to lack of interest. After all, not everyone watches fictional work for pure escapism and not all horror fans care only for the shock value and violence. It also shows the horror genre changed a lot since 2011 and even 1996.

i always come back to this opening for the hype. this was super fun, iconic and special to see in theaters. also the perfect ghostface comeback entry since the first. seriously wouldve went insane if released in 1997 instead of scream 2, and sam was the sister of billy 😭 it wouldve been perfect rather than sidney goes to college (i love scream 2) jenna's acting is just simply unmatched here. also, sza's JUST US was the perfect add on to the energy and such a throwback beat 👏🌟

I love the idea that they sort of recreate the opening scene from the first film, but the biggest difference is that the victim didn’t die.
Dude she could have avoided this so easily. When ghostface was calling her she could have just said "WAZZ UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUP" and then everything would be fine. Maybe even get a couple of drinks with him ghostface? Just don't let him rap.
