  • I share the link of my channel. / @mauriciogiuliodori
It describes what the different types of ion channels that neurons have are and what function they fulfill. It is a neurotransmitter and what effect it has on neuronal synapses (neuronal communication). The types of channels are: leakage channels (unregulated), ligand-gated channels, voltage-gated channels (voltage-sensitive or voltage-sensitive), and mechanically-gated channels (mechano-sensitive). It describes how they are distributed on the surface of the neuron. Leakage channels participate in the resting membrane potential. Activation of ligand receptors on postsynaptic membranes produces excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic potentials. Activation of voltage channels produces action potentials or nerve impulses. Mechanically activated channels act as mechanoreceptors.
