HAIRPIN HEAVEN? Lacets de Montvernier - FRENCH ALPS SOLO motorcycle trip - Col de la Madeleine EP10
- After a spectacular night on the Galibier (check the previous video if you haven’t already), I take a day off to start fresh with the next. You can wake me up everyday to ride a load of hairpins. And so my first stop of the day is hairpin heaven Lacets de Montvernier. While I continue my way I decide to make it a short day, as I notice I'm pretty tired. And then I become this goofball.. But being awakened by all the nice twisties and chilling at the lake for almost two hours gave me some new energy and so I ride on.
I end up Caroline and Bertrand, a lovely couple that had just opened their accomodation. Bertrand is a rider himself and with his son as a frequent pillion they explore the area quite often. If you'd like to book your stay, please make sure you make your reservations directly via: 'Un studio dans notre chalet' BERTRAND.CARO21@ORANGE.FR - tell them I've sent you and enjoy your stay!
A two month trip to remember for ever - August 19th 'till October 15th. Three years ago I rode the France Alps with my Monster821 and now I'm back (for more)!

Wow, watching your videos makes me want to just load up the bike and go touring.
That's awesome to hear! Go do it
Ok 👏🎉👍 Leonor
I absolutely love that you’ve done this without significant pre-planning! This is where true adventures unfold. Love every minute of your journey!
Was a bit new for me as I normally plan out almost everything. But luckily I know the French alps a bit, which made it easier. This time with lots of locals tips, it was even more enjoyable!
Thank you for taking us on this truly amazing journey. It is so wonderful to be able to see the amazing scenery that I would never have seen without you taking us.
Glad you liked it! There's only so much I can show in a video of a whole day
Another must watch with eye watering scenery. The biking committee is strong wherever you go.
Excellent
Girl, you surpassed Itchy boots. Great for you.
I missed the Lacets de Montvernier, but I drove the hairpins at the end of the video the opposite direction. I loved it too!! Greetings Gabi
Thank's for sharing this episode. It's so nice to see how mutch you enjoy riding with your Ducati, witch makes that nice pop, pop, pop sound. My Honda has that same positive problem.😂😂
Absolutely beautiful. I was in the area last summer and missed this one. At least I have an excuse to return 😁
You really should!
Thank you for sharing, what an amazing adventure
Loved the spontaneous, acceleration-induced, "wheee" at 6:12! Too cute... and made me laugh 😁
Hehe, great feeling that bike pull! 👊🏼
Can’t wait for spring, until then and when it’s 1°F here in Indiana this is a treat to watch. Great job as always! Thanks.
Thanks for the compliment, great way to pass the time indeed!
I'm watching your videos, I've seen them all I follow a lot of motorcyclists and I'm a biker myself but your videos are simply the most beautiful You are the best Great support in further work from bikers from Croatia🏍️✌️🇭🇷 I hope you will visit Croatia one day
Wonderfullll🇮🇳🤟💯🤟💯
The day just got better , another adventure 🤟
Loved this episode, Leonoor! Your energy had me smiling more than once! 😁
👋 Runa, are you checking out your next tour 🙊🙉🙈, Leonoor too 😉does inspiring photography 🤗
@@Wrong-Way-Round she absolutely does, and wow it makes me want to travel in the same area 😍
So glad it made you smile - as I always have with yours. Thnx girl! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Brilliant videos ❤
You spoil us, you really do. You have an eye for detail. Thank you
My pleasure! I do what I can 😄
really nice, thanks for this nice time.
Love cormet de roselend and madeleine pass some of my favorites in French alps. The barrage is so amazing.
Thanks for this video and all memories that came back in winter while waiting to take back the motorbike and go on the road again.
If you plan to ride around swiss alps and need guide / advices or just share the road just let me know 😉✌️
Fantastic.... 👏👏👏👏This episode was also a pleasure.
I enjoyed watching all the episodes of your solo tour through the French Alps.
I have also crossed many passes by motorbike and I have also been to many places that you have also travelled to, yes the French Alps are simply beautiful.
Your videos and photos are simply beautiful, they bring the fantastic pictures very close to me again, they immediately transport me back to the places. What also impressed me a lot, I think it was in episode 9, that you openly show your emotions, how the beautiful landscape moved you to tears.
Yes, the Comet de Roselend shown in today's episode is not only my favourite pass, it simply captivated me. I once sat on its banks in the early evening hours and just stared at the lake and the surrounding mountains. I was alone and it was so quiet, a pleasure.
I wish you beautiful and impressive experiences on your tours in 2024 and I wish you good health every day.
Keep it up soooo....
Greetings Wolly
That’s the power of mountains isn’t it, humbling one while gazing into its deep views. Thanks for sharing your experience
Thay were fantatic roads to ride great views and you had a great place for the night well done
So many 'triggers' watching your pod-casts Leonoor,
Absolutely brilliant.
That decking by the cafe ! Nothing like the location I recalled, (Seefeld, Austria years ago, We just came across this sensational cafe/restaurant literally on top of the mountain, no apparent roads to it,)
Magical moments keep flagging up all the time watching you ride,
But the solo rides are ALWAYS the best recollections,
I say this every time, (apologies) Can't wait for the next one , 😀
👍❤
Thanks for your kind words, I’ve encountered some pretty epic locations this trip! And so did you on yours I hear
What a great video very well done thanks for taking us along cheers to ya.
You do some fantastic videos, not just the filming but the production/editing . Love watching with map in hand.
And that’s exactly why I put the locations in there, hopefully it inspires you to go ride 😄
Another great video, the roads looked like a blast to ride thanks for taking us along can't wait for the next one keep riding and stay safe.
What a stunning road , your videos never fail to impress me , absolutely beautiful 😊 .
Thank you very much!
I absolutely love your videography and photography!!! You are quite the artist!!! And for sure a lovely personality!!! Lots of love from Gene in Tennessee.🤩
Thank you Gene 👍
I needed this! 5 inches of snow here in Nashville TN🥶
3'37" " going back well sir because it's very fun road" : Oh oui !
😄😄
I love to hear that Ducati sing !
Same 😬✊🏼
stunning views!
Danke dir Nik 🙌🏼
I followed all your videos on the French Alps...your work is amazing some of the absolute best quality..photo ...video and drone...Thanks so much I will never get to see that part of the world....take care
Thnx for the words, happy to show you some of Europes highest mountains
Nice. Never been there on my motorcycle but rode up on a bicycle a few years back, totally amazing bit of road. (set off from Alpe d'Huez and going over Col de la Croix de Fer and finishing there).
That is a really nice tour, not jealous at all for doing that on a bicycle hehe
Wow, Wow, Wow another slice of biking paradise and those switchbacks (hairpins) were amazing, your skill set in this field is in my opinion the best out there you are now my favourite videographer on RUclips sorry Noraly move over we have a new number one!!
Love your work 👌🙌😎
I still have a veeeery long way to go to reach what Noraly's has made happen haha, but thanks anyway!
@@LNRmoto I'm making a statement (in my opinion) on how wonderful your content is produced and yes Noraly has been doing it for a number of years and across the globe I totally understand that but you are in real terms just starting out but I know and recognise talent when I see it and trust me like a lot of your audience out there many are saying the same you are skilled in what you do.... Bravo keep up this excellent standard you are going places 👌👏⭐
@@Chris-on3el and I really appreciate it, I hope to have many more years ahead of me of adventuring to take you with me as viewers 🙌
@@LNRmoto I too have been watching Noraly for years, since the Oman, and still continue, but I think it is being a little unfair, chalk and cheese as they say, have very different styles, but equally fascinating to watch these amazing girls/ladies doing their motorcycling with such positive and fun attitudes, I would say Kinga is further down, but equally positive, there are others, too many to list, but wonderful to witness and allowing us too see them doing their ‘thing’ in their own way and long may they continue, ride safe, keep the rubber side down.
Ga zo eeuwig door en I will follow.
Enjoyed the video! Dank je..
You’re welcome
Nice bike
the duc sounds really good when your on it lol. that dam was really cool!! nothing like eating off a block of cheese! 😂 i guess i never really noticed how much stuff you have on the back end of the bike until you mentioned it....sláinte!
LNR thank you for allowing all of us to travel with. Love your photography & videos!
Nice, so many memories. For another ride: I had a friend who was a contracter ( aannemer) in Rovereto (IT). He had a summer residence at the Scanuppia Pass near Besenello (Strada Statale 12.) The Scanuppia pass is just for people who "live" there and at the start you see a sign 45% !! In the hairpins it is 100 % this means 45 ⁰. Many years ago (30-40)my friend Luciano Marsilli , no longer among us, provided the road with a cement layer. (He told me the 100 %) The machines they needed were attached to the mountaiside with chains to prevent them from rolling down. There are many mountainbikers. Your bike can do it one up. It is prohibited!! but.......Google! and RUclips
wow - THIS is now on my bucket list!
Just another great video. I really like it all and still waiting for the next episode
Thank you for showing such amazing scenery
Que lugar incrível! Parabéns pelas imagens, ficaram perfeitas, lindas!
Muchas gracias 😄
Lekker gereden!!!
your camera shots are great tanks
Glad you like them!
Lovely VDO, Lovely sound track.. Please share the link of sound track. ❤
Very nice. Those hairpins would give me sweaty palms though. But it looks beautiful.
I have done this road last year , two up on a Goldwing , but i was driving uphill and these hairpins are pretty tight, but the view is very nice. But at a certain point in a hairpin, a small truck came down the mountain and then it was very narrow to pass. What he was doing there is a riddle for me because he did fit barely.
That sounds equally challenging and fun! I’ve encountered some heavy machines there as well and was baffled by how they managed to turn those tight corners
It was a wonderful experience
Real dutchy, always looking for the water! Nice film btw groet John
I love your rides. Simples and inspiring. Keep doing…
Thank you! Will do 😄
It's very good that you put these pins with the locations, many people skip that part.
If it is possible i would also like to know in what kind of pricerange the accommodations are..
Kind of nice to get some tips if you are planning to make a similar trip.
If you google the accommodations you can find the prices, differ per season 🙌🏼
WOW this was nice. So adventurous.
Stunning roads and amazing views, thank you for sharing all of this it is so inspirational 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful area, and the winding roads, so much fun on a bike. Ride safe..Stocky in TX.
WOW!!!! ❤❤❤
What an amzing road! We have to go there next time we ride in the Alps! Thanks for sharing this with us!
Please do! It’s amazing
You are lucky, my beautiful lady, with a powerful Decati bike with great performance and appearance.. and you have a Nikon camera and you enjoy in stunning nature.. a wonderful feeling.. thanks for God’s blessings..
I am watching your video from the north of Thailand getting ready this morning to continue my return to the famous Mae Hong Song loop. Lots and lots of twisties, but too many young tourists on their hire bikes, not many with any protection and going too fast. Also lots on scooters with very little experience, all a bit scary. Your riding looks fun, nice big bike to have fun with, roads looking good, my first time to watch you, will return.
Another great episode - thank you! It‘s always cool to hear the sound of a Ducati when goin‘ down a nice, steep road ❤
I‘ve been on the Lacets du Montvenier 2015, with my Ducati 748. WHAT a hard work to get up there with this racer 😂 Col de la Madelaine then was much easier *lol*
Thank you for your awesome videos! 👍👍
I can picture it already, that's not the easiest bike for this narrow road, but hope you still enjoyed! Thanks for your comment again Jürgen
I did his in 2005 on my fjr1300. Got video footage and photos. Makes my hair stand up. Thankyou
Amazing video Leonor, simply amazing! 👍👍
Thank you! 😃
Hello..hello from Canada. I love riding in the Alps . Beautiful...and more . ....Your sequence with the drone in the lacets de Montvernier brougt tears in my eyes. What is the music from 4;17 to 5;58 ? Please respond if and when you a minute. Thanks. Continue this great passion of riding bikes in our world .:):) 😊and thanks for sharing.
Welcome in France. Cool vidéo for views and comments. Thanks.
Another epic video, Leonoor. It’s so nice that you had the time to chill a little and go at your own pace. You have certainty shown me a location I would love to see one day if I ever get the opportunity! 😊👊
And I’m positive you will ride there one day Phil, nice road for the triumph!
Amazing, thank you for an inspiration!
I'm on my way - 2016 Honda Innova 125 BEAST Mode! 68 and overweight! See you in August
😂😂😂
Merci merci merci 🤗
@@LNRmoto De rien , quand c'est bien , c'est bien 👍 !
Very nice views on your trip i like it.
Cool hairpins 👌Nice shots of some alpine farms with cattle too 😊Is it usual to be that warm there in September? 🤔Really like the spontaneity 👍😊
Depends, I was lucky with the weather most of my trip, but could be very cold as well already
You are a champion
keep going 💪
It is the Col du Chaussy, well known from the Tour de France, beautiful...❤
You get there from the Col du Madeleine. When I was there, 3 years ago, at the end of Octobre it was very cold and windy, but beautiful.❤
It’s such a beautiful area with lots of different type of rides 🙌🏼
@@LNRmoto ❤️
Thanks for another great video, the quality of your shooting and editing is outstanding and it is really brightening up these dark cold winter days 😊 I am gradually adding to my route for this summer but think I might need to take some extra time off!
Any extra time you can give yourself is worth it, notice it too on this trip. Thnx for the kind words
Watching your videos from India 🎉 ❤
Awesome! Thank you!
👌👌👌👌👌👍
For this summer, I'm not sure about doing part of Scotland, or this route you're doing, la route des grandes Alpes. Last year I did the Swiss Alps and the Italian lakes. But seeing your latest series... I really want to do the French Alps. Excellent series and thank you 👍
Glad to hear I could be of some assistance, although I hear Scotland is amazing too haha
Congratulations, I really like your videos and your way of riding a motorbike. Yours is a beautiful example of how to talk about a ride, a motorbike and a passion for photos.
Can I ask you how you attach the DJI mic to the helmet?
Thank you. :-)
Thank you for the kind words. My mic is attached with Velcro😊
I really enjoy watching your videos and French Alps series is especially interesting as this is going to be - most likely - my next trip destination in Alps. You did your trip between August and October. I am planning to do French Alps in last week of September. What weather should I expect?
Be prepared for extreme heat and very very cold weather, I’ve had it all 😆
Hi. Thanks for the beautiful videos from the Alps.
Question: Did you lower the motorcycle?
Hi thanks and yes I did, the seat and suspension is lowered 🙌🏼
❤
Lovely video !. What bike are you riding ?. Regards from the UK.
Didn't realise the dutch moaned about weather, how very english of you. Really like the jacket. What is the make please. Thank you.
Oh yes, it’s very Dutch to always complain about the weather as well 😆
Jacket is REV’IT! btw, they also have men’s version of it, check out the Sand line 🙌🏼
Once again I really enjoyed your content. Can you tell me where Bertrand and Caroline have their accommodation, please?
Check the description and the video please 🙌🏼
Sorry, I'm being really dense. I can see the email address, but not a town or village. I'm heading to Bulgaria in May and though it might be possible to stop there on the way back,
@@LNRmoto
@motostroller the location of the village is in the video. If you google the accommodations name you will find it
thank you@@LNRmoto
Prima video. Gesubbed!
Remember, never put the helmet on the floor, never!! Cheers!!😊
When you took the batteries out of your jacket in the parking lot, there was a dirt road behind you up the hill....are bikers allowed to go on these?
I’m not sure about this one, but not everything is allowed I believe. It’s way more steep than it looks on camera..
Vraagie!
Welke helm draag je hier!?
De Shoei Hornet ADV
Super! Dankjewel! Goeie ervaringen mee so far? Vind m vooral tof vanwege de looks..
Beautiful place, but I do not understand the obsession with stacked hairpins. I remember thinking they looked exciting before I'd ridden actually interesting roads. Now they're like an overused spice in a meal. So repetitive, and completely anti-flow! (For reference I live in the coastal mountains of California.)
You are lucky, my beautiful lady, with a powerful Decati bike with great performance and appearance.. and you have a Nikon camera and you enjoy in stunning nature.. a wonderful feeling.. thanks for God’s blessings..
