      @Frank Wiley Don't waste money buy direct. We operate a store on Overstock and Guest Returns. Paying $350 to $1000 a pallet is insane ! Walmart Liquidations are good but crazy expensive. If people would use common sense on bidding on auctions things would be so much better. Never pay more than 25% of retail price for any given auction. We get Target auctions all the time for 3 to 6% of retail and turn some major profits. Costco Auctions have also been good.
      You will always pay more for shipping. For example we pay $100 to $800 shipping depending on number of pallets. However we only pay $100 to $500 for the auction itself. Shipping is what kills you. Suggestion to anyone who wants to start doing this is buy multiple auctions. They will combined shipping and give you a credit for it. Saves you some good money on your next purchase.

  • @rvninnorthcarolina3377
    @rvninnorthcarolina3377 6 лет назад +60

    Just to be clear, it is against the law to sell something "as new" that was returned unopened. You can sell it as open box new, which implies it was opened but never used. If it was used once it has to be sold as used. Matters not if you have all the parts and boxes. Selling any of this as new (unless it obviously unopened via the factory seal) is fraudulent. This irks me when I get a product that was new and showed up obviously opened or used. THERE IS A REASON THEY ARE RETURNED AND THROWN INTO A D-CONTAINER AND SHIPPED AS SALVAGE. NOT NEW...stop saying you will sell it as new...you cant.

      Ebay does not have a condition category "used - like new", which would probably be the best description for many opened items.
      However, there are many boxes where it is obvious that the item has never been used. For example, a bread maker where the paddle is still sealed in the factory packaging along with the other accessories. That could properly be listed as "open box - like new" or possibly even "like new".
      When I list an item, I give a very detailed description of the condition of the box and contents. I also provide plenty of pictures.

    If every item was 11$, you would have to sell every item in the box for above 11$+ to be making the money back. I've considered doing this this, but I feel as if it's more of a gamble: Depending all on what you get in your pallet. In your personal opinion, is it worth the investment? And how often are you losing money versus making your money back plus some?

    • @hookedonpickinamazonfbasel1661

    When I was younger my family would go to pallet auctions every Wednesday night and get huge pallets for like $50-$75 each (we would buy whole trailer loads every time we went) eventually the people doing the auctions stopped doing it (they moved to another city and hired another company to auction and it didn't do well so people stopped coming) and now as I am old enough to do this myself I go to try to find pallets and places near me are selling them for like on average $300 a pallet. I bought one for $150 and 90% was trash. I didn't pay shipping because I bought it from an actual location. I know people say "oh the more expensive pallets you can make good money off of" but I don't just have $300-$600 to gamble on. The retail value doesn't matter if the items are broken with no way to fix them. They still have pallet auctions but it's about 5 hours away from where I live and that's crazy when I'm not sure if the auctions will be cheap enough to get.

Everyone who goes to Ebay should know what to expect that some items are "Like new" and they also know that ebay money back garantee policy covers them in case seller does not provide an accurate description. Very amazed how many sensitive and low sense of consumers who just expressed their negatives towards her. Learn from this person, she makes money that many americans place in the trash. I have done pallets for resell clothes. I would sell the hot items quickly and usually get to the break even mark or slightly above, which made it sort of worthwhile. But after considering my time and usually ending up with a huge pile of slow moving clothes leftover, I stopped in favor of other things. So all in all, I have mixed feelings, it wasn't hugely profitable and you really have to hustle to reach that break even point at least. One thing is for sure, there is no such thing as an "unpicked" pallet, you bet you someone has already picked a few choice items out.

I did get a book from Amazon that was represented by a different picture than what the seller sent me. It was about 20 years old, and wasn't an updated version. That's the only item out of many... Why would anyone sell at such low prices gold and silver that can be easily sold for the precious metal value. So many gullible people around.

    • @buggsy5
      @buggsy5 6 лет назад

      That is illegal by FTC regulations. Using the terms Gold or Silver without adjacent clarification to describe an item is fraud. For example, it is legal to say a necklace is "gold colored", but not state that a necklace "the color of the necklace is gold".
      I think the minimum karat content in the US is 10K (about 42% actual gold). In some European countries, the all 9K - about 37.5% gold.
      The place where a lot of people get fooled is when a gold filled item is listed, such as 10K20. Many people believe this is solid 10K gold - which is way wrong. What it means is that 20% of the total weight is 10K gold.
      For example, lets assume the 10K20 item weighs 20 grams (0.64 troy ounce). 20% of that means that there is 4 grams of 10K gold in the item. That means there is 4 x 0.42 = 1.68 grams of gold in the item. The other 18.32 grams is base metal, probably brass or copper.
      So if the spot price of gold is $1400/toz, it is $45/gram. That make the spot price of that necklace $75.60. If selling to a fairly generous gold buyer, you will get about 80% of spot - or $60.48.
      I would have to see the listing to tell if it was in violation of the FTC regulations.

    Hi there..
    I actually stumbled across your vid and I must say that I may try This! I have a question tho: Given the condition, if all parts are there, the demand for the item, etc. How long on average does it take for this stuff to sell?
    I've never done anything like this but I'm willing to try it as long as I'm not sitting on this stuff for too long.
    Thanks

    • @hookedonpickinamazonfbasel1661
      @hookedonpickinamazonfbasel1661  6 лет назад +4

      It really depends on the sales rank on amazon and how low you price the item. I try to be very competitive and if the sales rank on amazon is extremely high then I dramatically lower the price to get it to move faster because i do not like to tie up my money in inventory. I try my best to always have the buy box when selling on amazon or ebay.

    I worked for an organization for seven years that bought "salvage" from a local retailer. Most, if not all, of it was damaged and returned items. Just because all the parts were there and it was in the original box does not mean you could sell it "like new". If I sold items that way, without testing them first, I would have a lot of irate customers demanding their money back. I've been burned by people in the past that sold items LIKE NEW instead of listing them AS IS. You really should make sure these items are tested before hand. Good haul, though!

    question: do you need some sort of certificate or seller license or something to be able to sell these items if you wanted to?

    I just bought a pallet of 350 items for $1500. When I average out the cost per item, I end up showing a loss on my accounting of about half after they sell because the cost per item was waaaaaay over on lots of things. For instance, I have an average cost of $4 per item, but 20 Clorox bottles that sell for $2. Am I just to show a $2 loss on all 20 bottles? Is there a better way to figure out a cost per item?

    Long story short..
    I just got my $680.00 box of stuff ...so my main item was a samsung s8 plus. (main reason I wanted this)
    Yes I could have sold everything /kept phone and made money ...anywayssssss
    The dang phone came cracked on all corners and shattered back! Main thing after charging for 3 hours ...nothing screen did not turn on . Yes this was on a return not (salvaged items auction) This phone is in the salvaged category for sure.Also the manifest said noting in the notes about being broke. So now do you think they will only give me %12 thats nothing. Ill dispute it tomorrow .. hope this helps someone out there... a warning.

      carlsbadtuber same thing happened when I bought several different boxes. Now I will only buy brand new, but I found another guy that sells brand new pallets from Target that I can buy locally and it only costs me $375 and I literally get thousands of dollars worth of product. Everything still has the price tags on them and out of the 100’s of items I get on the pallet I think I got maybe 1 or 2 items I had to throw away. Check in your local area because I know they do this all over the country. Bulq is a joke unless you don’t mind fixing everything, selling things as parts or calling around to try to find the missing part.

    I enjoyed watching you. Those toilet things are pronounced bidae. Bid with a long a at the end. It’s put in the toilet and washes your bottom when the water hits you. I’ve never used one and I’m not sure if it’s supposed to get you clean or refreshed. Those I certainly would make sure aren’t used. For sanitary reasons. For the customers who buy it as well as you handling it. Great haul. I’m subscribing and giving you a 👍. Thanks for sharing.

    She's annoying, it's Hamilton Beach!!! Not Hampton. Also lots of bread makers. Because no one wants bread machines anymore. People are eating less or no bread these days

      Bread machines were a novelty. Yes they worked. Yes, was nice to smell fresh bread. But they are a pain in the arse to upkeep, and either you buy the bread pouches, or spend time getting the formula right. One of those use them a couple times, under the counter next to the food processors.

    This may be a littler picky, but it's "HamILTon Beach", not "HamPTON Beach".
    Go to the Virginia coast and call it "Hamilton Roads" and see how long it takes someone to call you an illiterate idiot. Then go back to your high school history teacher and try telling him that the name of America's first Secretary of the Treasury was "Alexander HAMPTON".
    I realize that you were in somewhat of a rush to unload everything within the time you had to work with, and the first time you read it wrong, could have been passed off as a mistake (although it IS a well-recognized brand name all around the world). But to mispronounce it every time indicates that you're totally clueless.
    Sorry if you're offended, that wasn't my intention.

      "Moving much too fast and pronounced it wrong" isn't a truthful answer. Had you only done it once, perhaps. But you did the same thing 3 or 4 times.
      Sorry, but I prefer to watch videos from honest people.

    most of these items definitely sell for well over $11 (the estimated cost per item mentioned in the beginning) .. seems like a LARGE profit margin was possible with this pallet.. Nice! 👍 (i see this was posted in 2017).. did you keep track of profits? curious how much was made over all, after attempting to sell it all..... 🤑💰💲💹

    I love the single-syllable elision. (Hamton Beach, BioDet, etc.) Please test everything that's been opened.
