This was SUCH a great video Paul. Thanks for sharing. I've been using Asana for 12 months now but only at a very simple daily to-do level. This quick clip was full of so much value which I'll be using this afternoon to convert to a paid account and set up all of my projects properly. Thank you!!
This video (and so many of yours) have been super helpful to me as far as productivity, organization, and Asana. Thanks for great content! Question for you - do you use Goals in Asana? I have been looking at this new feature and I was wondering if you had any thoughts or experience with it.
Hi Paul, I noticed that you have converted into using Timeline which is in the premium version. Does that mean the Kanban and Calendar are not sustainable? especially if we're considering to continue using the free version of Asana. thank you so much! :)
Paul - Your approach to tasks and projects is very unique.. One question In a teams environment, if another team member creates a project and doesn't follow your structrue), it immediately clutters up the project list on the left - even for projects that I'm not a part of if he's part of my "team". How do I avoid that so I can filter out ONLY projects that I'm involved in?
Hey Paul! In the video you don't cover how you have "Clients" set up (which understandable if your actual clients are in there). But how do you set up your clients? We're a creative agency looking to better use asana, and I'm curious how you use the "clients" project. Thanks!
So I have a project called 'Clients' which a task for each client. Then I use subtasks for the actual work. But if your client work is quite detailed, you may need an entire project.
I appreciate your video and I am trying to test it out for my company. I do not like that do not have an online Chat support. I have remove/ deprovisioning a user from my Organization in error. I am the Admin and now I cannot get back in. Any suggestions? I see the team under the Organization as an indv.
I own a book publishing company. I have to work on different books say 20-30 books at a time and nearly 150-200 books in an year. Most of the books have same tasks. Is it possible to view reports in asana according to the users to whom the work has been assigned or according to the tasks as most of them are common in all the books or according to the deadline set for the books?
Paul, At around mark 2:40 in this video, you're showing a milestone w/ subtasks and they're grouped into sections (Personal, Business,...). How is that accomplished? I can't figure it out.
I have a free organization account so I dont have advance search option or reporting option. I was wondering how I can have a client calls folder like you do. Creating a project is one option but any other hacks besides that?
Hi Paul - is there a reason that you sync your tools with Google calendar and then sync that with Apple calendar, rather than just syncing directly with Apple calendar from Asana / Pipedrive etc?
Well Google Calendar is part of my work email account (whereas my iCloud is more personal) so it just sort of makes sense to sync to this account then to Apple.
@@minor-co I found a simple, cheap and proper (full) 2 way sync option from Asana to Google calendar that you might be interested in checking out - www.projectprocs.com I think I remember you saying that you did your time blocking kinda manually, but this could take out a lot of the work for $2.50 pm.
@@minor-co Hi, first of all - thanks for sharing this awesome stuff, Paul! I have a quick question, how are sections created in a subtasks section (“Personal”, “Business”) ruclips.net/video/vXOnMvMyFDg/видео.html? I guess I saw it somewhere on your great channel, unfortunately, I can't find it now. 🙏
This is where I keep tasks that are 'Next' i.e. small things I'll do when I get a chance. 'Thinking' is stuff I'm still not sure if I'll do or I'm thinking about. And 'Waiting' is for tasks I need to do but can't because I'm waiting on someone to get back to me.
Can I still manage what each member of my team will be working on “today”, “upcoming” or “later” or is that up to them? I’d like to set this priority for them.

Thanks for the feedback Michaela, glad I could help 😀
Thank you for sharing the great ways to use Asana, Paul! I'm a long time user of Asana, but I always learn new ideas from you :)
Thanks, I'm glad I could help 😀
Thank you Paul, I knew I wasn't taking full advantage of Asana. Great video!
Thanks Amélie 😀
You are just brilliant
Thanks Mahesh, glad you like the videos 😝
Thank you for the information you shared with us. thank you
You're welcome!
Informative video, Due Tomorrow is very useful.
Glad I could help!

Thanks, glad you like the videos. I don't personally use the goals feature but it is very useful for larger teams.
@@minor-co okay, thanks!!
Thanks for all of this great info! What subscription do you have for yourself, and for your team members?
Business 👍
Thank you for this informative video. How do you set up your subsections? Is this something from an upgraded plan? Thanks!
No, this is just me creating a section from the 'New Task' button at the top.
Hi Paul, I noticed that you have converted into using Timeline which is in the premium version. Does that mean the Kanban and Calendar are not sustainable? especially if we're considering to continue using the free version of Asana. thank you so much! :)
No, the board and calendar are fine. I just like the visual nature of the timeline.
This is a great overview, thanks. How might Import projects to the timeline instead of individual tasks?
Thanks Dustin. Sorry but I don't quite understand your question?
Hello Paul - you are using a TASK for a client name, is a subtask a single job for the client and then one level deeper for specific todos?
Exactly! Although I rarely use sub-subtasks. I generally just have the parent task and subtasks.

I just replied to your email about this. TL;DR: Use the favourites as a way to show projects you're working on.
I notice you used to have a Kanban board but I didn’t see it in that video. Have you scrapped that method?
Yes, I now just use the 'Timeline' view instead of the board
I just looked at Asana pricing models. Is there a way to have a premium for just one seat? I'd love to have all features.
I believe the minimum is two seats.

Where can I find the pay consulting? I’d like to become certified professional

Oh sorry to hear that. To be honest, I think you'll have to reach out to Asana support via their email to get help with this.

Hi Makul, yes if you have each book as a task, you could run a report to show these tasks and who's working on them.
Hi Paul! What version or license do you use? I see the button Upgrade but also premium features that you are using (like reports and milestones).
I'm on Premium. It's giving my an upgrade option as I could upgrade to get Business if I want.
Paul, At around mark 2:40 in this video, you're showing a milestone w/ subtasks and they're grouped into sections (Personal, Business,...). How is that accomplished? I can't figure it out.
I actually found the answer - it's "Tab N" while you're in the subtask view. This allows you to add sections within subtasks.
You got it 😀
I have a free organization account so I dont have advance search option or reporting option. I was wondering how I can have a client calls folder like you do. Creating a project is one option but any other hacks besides that?
If you're on the free plan, creating another project is really the only option without using advanced search.
@@minor-co Thanks Paul .. thought so too.

Hi. I am new user to asana. is it complete free to use to personal management?
Yes 😀
I guess your Asana videos are making me want to try this tool although I have been a user of Clickup!
If Clickup works for you, great. Otherwise try Asana and see how you go.

Piotr Bach you use the keyboard shortcut: Tab + N
Hi Paul, could you explain what is the purpose of "Next / thinking / waiting" section in [Upcoming] just before "This week" section?
This is where I keep tasks that are 'Next' i.e. small things I'll do when I get a chance. 'Thinking' is stuff I'm still not sure if I'll do or I'm thinking about. And 'Waiting' is for tasks I need to do but can't because I'm waiting on someone to get back to me.

Yes, if you click on their name or search, you can move the tasks between these sections for them.
Good.
👍
I have one query
Scenario :
There are 2 users
User 1 : created a task which is assigned to user 2
Can user 2 delete it?
Yes, but user 1 would be notified that they deleted it.
Paul Minors
I don't want that user 2 can delete it
Is it possible?
Secondly
can I restore deleted task?
Vishal Thakral yes you can restore it but you can’t stop them deleting it I’m afraid. This is just how Asana works.
Y'all keep talking about a sauna, but then go on to talk about project management. It's a little confusing
(it is not pronounced as asAUna)
The tool is called 'Asana' and I just pronounce it the same as the co-founders 😀
