Im now 72, five years ago I had cataracts removed and had the intraocular
multi focal Tecnis Symfony lens procedure on both eyes. My
close and distance vision is now fantastic! I do not need any other
vision correction (contacts or eye glasses) and have been so impressed
with the results. If your eyes are otherwise healthy aside from the
cataracts, I heartily recommend inter-ocular implants!

Just had both eyes done and I love it. I have the New lenses. I don’t need readers. They cost $ 1500.00 per lens. Insurance will not cover the lens. Paid close to that amount for the surgeon and let’s not forget the hospital bills and the bills either. I would do it all over again

I had multifocal implants in both eyes a bit over a month ago and am not happy with them. After my post op tests my left eye is rated as mediocre. I still have to get glasses to have decent vision. The glare from busy nightime traffic is almost unbearable at this early stage. Things may improve but then they may not too. I still will have to wear glasses for some things so I’m wishing I'd got single focus implants now as I’d at least have good distance vision. On the other hand having worn glasses since I was 7, I am enjoying being able to chose whether I wear them or not.
    I am in Australia.

I have monofocal lens and couldn't be happier. My distance vision and contrast is super sharp. You may see 20/20 with a multifocal lens but it will be sharper with a monofocal. ( Remember monofocal lens allow 100% light transmission to the retina). I only need reading glasses for sharp focus less than a foot away but cell phone no problem and reading most labels. Why give up seeing good in dim light and who wants night driving with halos. People expect too much from multifocal lens. The technology is not there yet. Maybe some day.

Thank you for your comment. I have been considering multi focal lenses for my upcoming surgery but am worried about decreased contrast and less sharpness. I think I will go with the monofocal. I have been wearing progresssive glasses for many years and can always continue with them for near vision. Still, I would be able to be glasses free for hiking, driving, etc.

After my cataract surgery my vision did improve but after 12 weeks it was blurry again and something was missing. I met the ayurvedic Doctor, Dr. Vikram Chauhan and he said that there was formation of water in the centre of the eyes and he gave me Bilberry Capsules, Amla Saar and Amalaki Rasayan Capsules to apply. which are too effective for the natural treatment of cataract. I tried it for three months and my eyes have improved dramatically.

It's misleading in this video, where it claims multi-focal intraocular lens can't be changed. You would,of course, need further surgery to remove the lens and implant a mono-focal design.

I chose a mono-focal lens implanted in both of my eyes. I wanted the best possible 1. distance vision 2. night driving vision.
It is odd carrying reading glasses around with me; I bought several and they are 1. in my car 2. next to bed 3. in my office
At a restaurant I didn't have them and I could not read the credit card slip at all but I learned my lesson.
Someday they may be able to duplicate a human lens which can change shape (accommodate) and focus for close vision.

Just had both eyes done a month apart. Both eyes are now 20 20 distant vision and correction of astigmatism.
For near vision I will need to wear reading glasses which I have yet to purchase.
In addition to both eyes seeing 20 20, everything is brighter and clearer. Didn't realize how much the cataracts were dulling my vision.
Would have had the surgery done a few years ago but the COVID pandemic got in the way.

    • @JaheedkhanUk
      @JaheedkhanUk  4 года назад +2

Hi Meher, a trifocal is a type of multifocal lens. Its main aim is to provide 3 focal points at near, intermediate and distance. More traditional multifocal lenses struggled to focus for near or very near so technology has moved on to provide this greater range of focus. Hope this helps and thanks for watching. Jaheed

Later, they can develop something that can heal the lens and regain its transparency. The bio-friendly properties of artificial lenses were also accidentally discovered. During World War II, it was noticed that a piece of plexiglass drilled in the soldiers' eyes did not cause inflammation. This opened up the possibility of developing an artificial lens that could be built into the human eye. Currently, however, there is unfortunately no choice but to remove the lens and replace it with an artificial lens.
