I like how we all used to be irritated when Goku took too long to finish Snake Way or get to Namek. Looking back at it, the hate felt misdirected because Goku in both those instances was going as fast as he could, literally no one at the time could've done it any faster. The plot was just against Goku at the time.
The plot is NEVER against Goku. But I agree, he was always going as fast as he could, every time for different reasons he was delayed or kept away from his friends
Episode 30 Goku arrives on namek in Kai but in the original he arrives on episode 52 lol. Watching these episodes week to week with the occasional reset to episode 1 probably because the dub wasn't released yet was frustrating but at the same time great.

Dude. It took Goku and Vegeta only 13 episodes to fight against each other in Kai. The original took 30 episodes. Z had a pacing issue.
