I use Salomon tactical shoes everyday for work. Great boots very durable with one flaw.. the speed lace is great but the ‘eyelets for the laces are the weak point. Solomon should’ve made it with stronger material than cloth. The laces just cut through the cloth eyelets. Maybe metal or reinforced cloth/ nylon would be better. I will still considering getting another Salomon but with a different lacing eyelets.
Bought them 4 months ago. Used them quite intensive and the soles are worn out already. I have various pairs of salomon and for me these look great are comfortable but certainly not the best.
I have them and this is the "Non-fanboy" review: +Great looking. Mine are the white ones. +Quick lace system is very good and i love it. +Grip is in general fantastic. You feel confident on most surfaces. +Stability is amazing. For a person suffering on and off with Plantar Fascitis this shoe does an amazing job keeping my foot steady in place. +General quality is good. You just know this shoe will do many many miles before it needs replacing. +Shoe is true to size for the most part. I wear a size 12 and it feels like a size 12. As this reviewer said. It runs maybe .05 size smaller. If the shoe actually would break in.this would normally not be a problem. -The shoe feels like it just cant break in. It feels new even after around 300 km.. This means blisters, aching and general uncomfortable shoe if you walk for longer periods at a time. Its far too stiff. I would love to hear anyone say anything different. -The water protection is in general a gimmick. You WILL get wet with this low shoe. I would not buy this if you want a true water proofing. Naturally this means a far less breathable shoe. also. -Feels too high priced. I have had much better shoes from Salomon The 3 GTX for example is a better one in general. In my opinion of course.
Thanks for your review. Im about to buy my own ones.. i stuck chosing the colour. I prefer white but im not sure how cleanable this shoe is. Have you an answer about that ? Does the Material leave almost all the mud or will they get dirty very quicky? Thanks you
These SUCK compared with the old model. They are VERY STIFF, and heavy compared to the GTX 3. and the quality seems to suck. Lots of reports of them falling apart after just a few weeks. Mine are not even broken in and they are already splitting.
Hello! I wear size 44 in salmon boot x ultra 3 GTX but I'd like the shoes this instead. Should I keep the same size or go one size down? My feet are 27.5cm Thanks in advance!

Looking at all the reviews on Salomon's products in the past 2 years, the quality has really gone downhill. Maybe they've suffered from the pandemic and had to change manufacturing or materials suppliers, who knows. I've been doing heavy research on my first hiking/trail boot and Salomon kept coming up, but mainly from people that bought their boots over 2 years ago. Recent reviews are kind of scaring me away from Salomon lol.
You are right on the button, I have a lot of salomon shoes(boots and i did buy the x ultra 4 when they came out and they are really BAD no comfort, cant wear them more then 1 mile then feet hurts.
@@poulhansen4822 I've been buying Salomon for years and always bought them because of the high quality, though I've noticed the same, it's just not the same quality to justify the price. The only thing that still tempts me is the 2 year warranty, though trying to get a replacement online is a needle in a haystack.
They are no longer made in France. They were bought up by a Chinese company during the pandemic and have since moved their entire production line to Vietnam. The new Chinese owner is trying to turn it into a $1BN dollar business and with that comes lower quality, lower production costs but higher profitability. It's all about marketing instead of quality. Sad to see Salomon go downhill.
Until Solomon starts making shoes somewhere other than China Im out. Supporting the CCP is not ok. Mass scale human rights violations, The exportation of fentanyl. Among many other things. You cannot manufacture in China without supporting the CCP either directly or indirectly. I do however fully support Solomon in their effort to bring their plant in France online. Once they have and they stop investing in China then we should all choose their brand.
@@xSkyflow I currently have 2 pairs of German made Meindls that I bought from Hoffman Boots out of Montana. I think Meindl has both imported and German factory made with the German factory boots running close to the $400 mark. Im sure some of the parts sole etc could possibly be sourced from Asia (vibram could be out of china but also could be made in the Us, Brazil, Czech Republic, or Italy). It would depend on the sole and the market you bought the boot from.
@@xSkyflow It is easier to find heavier hiking or work boots such as Hanwag, Zamberlan, Meindl, Crispi and others that are made in Europe but It is extremely difficult to find more of a lighter weight dual purpose synthetic hiking boot/shoe similar to Solomans that is not made in China. Almost impossible. I noticed Zamberlan has one called the Anabasis that is Italian made. There are a few others.
@@xSkyflow Now that I am looking some more check out Lowa brand. European made and looks like they have quite a few trail hiking running lighter weight shoes and boots.. Lorenz Wagner is founder; Hans Wagners (Hanwag Boots) brother.
I have bought it yesterday. Grey is very good-looking and comfortable to wear. I thinks it is much better than the north face hiking shoes.
3's fell apart in 6 months, separated from the sole....But they stand by their warranty and gave me credit for a new pair, so I'm trying the 4's
Great review man in depth and insightful.
I've just bought a pair! Keep up the good work and ignore the negative comments.
Peace

they used to have reinforced eyelets idk why they changed
what size are they

Which salmon shoes do u recommend?
@@harrylui7703 i like the xa pro v8.
salomon changed their country of origin and it reflected on their quality
how much better is the pro version and what is the difference!?? thank you
l used it just 3 months for only going to work and come back (nearly 1 kilometer away) and it already worn out. Now about to break in half.
Got to say if that’s what the shoe looks like after running and hiking 3/5miles then they are awsome😊
Debating between this and the XA wild for my hiking and every day shoes. The XA looks just slightly more my style, but I have to think about it.
My personal choice would be XA although both are awesome!

can you where these in the winter and cold weather?
Wish they made the gray in a wide 13. Cannot seem to find it.
I have the x ultra 4 and I think they are really BAD for hiking, compared to their older models.
The different between X ultra 4 non gtx & xa pro 3d v8 ?
Excellent review. Very high quality. Thank you for your time.
Hi,
For dual purpose (hiking and trail running)between this and hoka speedgoat 4 gtx, which one you prefer?
Between the two, I would definitely go with Salomon.
@@UltimateSurvivalGear thank you very much
Look great but whats wrong with the shoelaces?
bougth the boots today, everything feels perfect but the insole, that thing just sucks
What happens if the laces of the shoes are cut? Can these be bought somewhere or does salomon fix it for free????

Слышно слегка. По сравнению с тем безобразием, что творится у нас в стране, это потрясающий результат. И видно, что чувак над этим очень долго работал
