Happy New Year to you and the kits. Keep warm and safe! ❤ Perhaps they were afraid to go to a proper place for trash but it's not OK to leave your waste for others to deal with.
It's extremely common for this sort of dumping to happen in isolated areas, all they care about is the money from selling the plants' produce. I just read about a farmer who had this mess dumped on his property & decided to spread the compost on his land to save the expense of disposing of it. Interesting cabbages from his field eventually maybe!
Sure good to see you and hear from you! I'm always pleased to see the beard present...I hope your feeling better? ☺️...You and your boys take care be safe and warm. My new companion "Mordicai" is a very nice tuxedo cat , my daughters boy.....🤗. It has helped..Amazing how much room a furry companion takes up in your home and your life and your heart...🙏❤BLESSINGS !!! Thnx!
I used to have an allotment and the police would offer the pots and compost to the group. Apparently it was always good quality! Love the beard. Suits you. Take care
Good luck with the BSS... The guy who did mine told me that it's going up to 250 quid next year. He could have done it in 15 minutes but instead he had three cups of coffee and verbal diarrhoea........ Everything on the canal is a ripoff... but of course the CRT get some of the bss money. I agree that it is necessary because there are some boats that are in pretty bad condition but they can't justify the price..
What a disgraceful act. I think I would have taken the large black plant pots for spring bulbs, summer bedding or growing salad crops. Happy New Year to you and the boys.
Lol...I am obviously a more suspicious person that you Phil!! I "twigged it"(lol) from the thumbnail Ha Ha...but locally here, such grows are fairly common. I hope you are keeping warm in this extreme weather, it was -9 here today brrrrr Just the time for snuggling up with a warm cat or two!
Somebody told me that it's legal now to grow two plants yourself🤔🤔. I have seen one growing through the window of a narrow boat it was just sat there on the worktop😱
Hi Phil... as veteran I thought I will ask you this..... i've been living on my boat now for 5 years and I haven't quite got to the bottom of it.... my stove is at the stern and my bedroom is at the bow, it is absolutely freezing my bedroom and the condensation is horrendous, how do you cope with the condensation and how would you get heat to the bedroom? apart from having the radiators on. There's that many vents and little bits that don't quite fit together.. You'll lose an horrendous amount of heat including through the windows if they're not double glazed..... I've recently come up with a theory after watching the Met Office deep dive, the heat from the stove rises and travels across the roof then hits the bulkhead in the toilet, then goes down and along the floor back towards the stove that's why there's a draught and it's a lot colder.... The bathroom floor is tiled and I could freeze a chicken on it overnight😱 The bathroom is in between the stern and the bow so it's got to get through the amount of cold to get into the bedroom and I don't think it can. so I'm contemplating changing it to something else.. rather than ceramic tiles.. I think as a stop gap I just might put a little bit of carpet over the tiles until springtime... Also well I've got your attention👀... Do you know if you can insulate onto the base plate?(From inside obviously) As far as I know my floorboards are just sat on the struts if that's what you would call them that I sat on the bass plate and there's air gap then it's my carpet.... It wouldn't make sense to insulate one of the coldest parts of the boat I know the sides are done... Thanks in advance for any answers...... 🥶🥶keep those feet warm🥶🥶.... 👍
My stove is more or less in the middle of the boat. Some longer boats have two stoves! Radiators are the best option. Don't insulate under the floor. Carpets on top work well for that. Some boaters partially block vents in winter but that's a bit risky so I'm not advising you to do that ;-) I've covered my windows with bubble wrap, it works very well.
Looks like somebody dumped their weed growing paraphernalia😱... That looks like a normal day in Burnley and Backburn on the Leeds & Liverpool😡😡 (I posted this before you said what it was👍)
That's quite a story, and you may be right about the crop. None of it can be re-used or re-cycled. I would have made a call to the local town environment or garbage department. Best wishes with your repairs, hope the weather clears for you.
Did you notify the authorities? I know there is little they can do but reporting such matters helps them build up their data-base. Boring, it seems, but surprisingly useful long-term.
@@NarrowboatJourneys it is still in a quite good state. Just tell the local police and let them check it out. If it is of no use to them it will not waste much of their time and they can report it to the Council to clean up.
Hi Phil, I cannot abide flytipping and use the following apps on my phone to report whenever I’m out and see anything as you did (in the UK): Love Clean Streets and/or Fix My Street.

The BSS is a good idea in theory but it's basically just an expensive scam and a way to get rid of boaters.
What a disgraceful act. I think I would have taken the large black plant pots for spring bulbs, summer bedding or growing salad crops. Happy New Year to you and the boys.

I don't know about that? But I have seen pot plants on boats before.

I probably would have phoned the police but like you would not have known what it really was. Take care keep warm.
Phil what is that plant behind you ?
A Parlour Palm
@@NarrowboatJourneyshonest officer! 👮♂️ 😊 HNY!
Might be a parlour palm.
Who polices the 14 day period or do they just rely on your honesty? Thanks!
CRT does the policing but it's a bit variable. Some places are checked weekly, some every two weeks or so.
Did you notify the authorities? I know there is little they can do but reporting such matters helps them build up their data-base. Boring, it seems, but surprisingly useful long-term.
Not yet. I don't know how long it's been there?
