      Not everything has to be gourmet and for those of us on a more realistic budget there are always alternatives. Bagged grated parmesan keeps well in the freezer and a small tin of evaporated milk or UHT cream will last forever in your pantry and provides the creamy base with no discernible difference in flavour over fresh. Use social media cooking for inspiration and adjust to your own tastes and budget.

    Just some salt and fresh lemon juice is such a common Italian approach for salad and it’s absolutely divine. Simplicity for the win.

    • @Awf00L
      @Awf00L 2 месяца назад +5

      Vinegar and olive oil are definitely more common than lemon juice, it still works though, what doesn't work in Italy is grating pecorino on salad and mixing salad and pasta in a single dish, you're gonna mix the seasonings and the tastes, that's something nobody would do here especially with a main course of pasta, we might put salad/vegetables in a single dish with a second course of meat and fish maybe, still separating them, she's literally throwing salad into the pasta.

      @@Awf00L Damn pasta with a side of salad on the same plate are literally the most common dish where I'm from. Yeah... That's just a fancier version of military-style macaroni, that's a staple on post Soviet territories.
    Usually it's just pasta with ground or canned meat of any kind and the cheap veggies that were easy to get your hands on, like carrots and onions.

      The soviet military-style macaroni dish was created as poor man's bolognese, so yeah.
      On the more important note, quit smashing dozens of countries with different cultures from different parts of the world into a homogeneous mass called "post-soviet territories".
      The occupation ended three decades ago, most of them have kept evolving their separate ways.
