This is my area of expertise as a software engineer and an AI enthusiast. At the beginning, you touched on an opposing force of good to counteract the bad players. This was a good assessment. We’re certainly working on aligning these AI models so that they don’t work against us or we use them to help subvert the attacks against intelligent forces. What gives me hope is the incredibly high cost for training each of these AI models. The largest corporations will always be at the forefront if scaling (compute) and money remain the driving force for their continued improvements. We’re really racing against the likes of China and Russia to maintain our world leader status and for the sake of international security… and for those reasons alone I wouldn’t worry too much about AI taking over the world in a harmful (physically) way. You can always count on America to outspend the rest of the world to be the most imposing intelligence and armed forces in the world 😂
But ultimately, many jobs will be lost and economies will suffer faster than what many are expecting. We’re not prepared. If most people knew how intelligent these models were at the present moment, there would be more outrage to slow this thing down, but it’s honestly too late. The open source and decentralized world has risen and now we can’t stop it. So we race and we pray to whatever hold us sane lol

How can I sit here and read this without using sarcasm having read your expertise in the matter. Computer processing and accounting is the best and most advantageous form of economics and record keeping. There is actually a pattern and design with intelligence. Heat death is the result. If you can understand that then you know Bio-mechanical intelligence is the result of actual quantum computer processing, memory and storage. As far as the economy, it is ironic people still think the elite have any concern for little people.

@ sure, you can quantify and calculate a great many of things using classical computing, you don’t even need quantum computing to solve our most immediate issues… we have that already. But to make data digestible and to make expansive analyses where predetermined querying can’t make use of new trends, relating datasets that don’t require manually reviewing, or scientific discoverability, you’ll need cheap intelligence. You seriously think our greatest minds are pouring billions into compute and inference without understanding the implications?

@@User.Joshua I do. We are all puppets in this elitest game. Marionettes.
