The only reason I picked up a 4080 myself is because of the 8GBs of VRAM on the 3070 Ti. It was such a strong performer held back by just a measly extra 4GB. Since I’m on 1440p, new titles are so unoptimized, it couldn’t handle it anymore. It’s so upsetting to get so little longevity out of a very expensive GPU..

I expect to build a new pc with a 4080 in a couple months from a 2070S, and I'm very excited. The really annoying thing is that I am actually partially paying for frame generation. If it wasn't such a big difference in RT performance and that it has frame gen, I would definitely get the 7900XTX, but they've come down a bit in price, so I can get a good one for 1100
I just upgraded from a 3080 to 4080. Besides the price point, I'm very happy with it. Feels good to crank everything to ultra and just play instead of tweaking every individual graphical setting.

I have a 10900K and 3080 but just upgraded to a 4080, I have a 1440p 240hz OLED. Cyberpunk with Path Tracing, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation and DLSS Quality, I'm getting 100 plus. Miles Morales with RT and FG, 200fps, Ratchet and Clank RT and FG, 144fps. 89-98% usage on other games, barely any CPU bottleneck and I love it.
Currently looking for an upgrade from my RTX3080 for my LG 38GL950G. RTX4080 looks like the jump I will need before Starfield releases. Currently seeing new RTX4080s below £1000 on ebay. Great video :)

I've just upgraded to 4080 super from MSI ventus and paired it with i7 14700k in the JONSBO D41 case. Must say that it's my first good PC that can play new games, so I went all in with it :D Now waiting for 1440p Ultra wide monitor to arrive. Thanks for showing how it's working with ultrawide!

I paid way too much for my 3080 during covid, so I will wait for the 50xx series, if I swapped now it would be for a 7900xt which goes for as low as 600us.

I was running a 10900k and I upgraded my gpu to a 4090; wow the bottleneck i was getting from my cpu was bad so I upgraded to a 14700K a month later and its silky smooth game play now. The 9900K was a legit gaming cpu for its time but it would be a good idea to get it upgraded asap to get the full potential of your card.

Great video, also have a 4080. But a 5 FPS difference to modern high end cpu’s isn’t exactly correct. Even when GPU bound, an IPC difference and architectural difference that large isn’t going to be marginal.
Just watched further and as expected, you were CPU bound in hogwarts legacy and even Cyberpunk Overdrive which is quite possibly one of the most taxing game loads for gpus at this moment in time. You are most certainly losing far more than 5fps and 1% /.1% lows would also be greatly larger than that difference. Games use the cpu a lot more than older titles. Hogwarts legacy with raytracing on a 4090 is still CPU bound. On a 4080, even more so. And when you’re running extreme loads like cyberpunk overdrive and the gpu is still not able to hit 99%, that’s a telling sign you’re practically always going to be CPU bound. I’m not sure of any other game that could utilise your 4080 if that’s not enough. So just a little heads up, there’s a shit ton of performance being left on the table, and i’d imagine the 1% lows to be the most substantial difference in terms of game feel
Also, the 4090 CPU bottleneck in hogwarts legacy with ray tracing on, is with the best cpu’s on the market, 13900K’s and 3D v cache 7000 series AMD. If you play on controller you don't feel any input lag when you use FG. On mause and keyboard is a little bit so is not an issue. Frame gen is a nice piece of tech for single-player demanding games.
@@ColeCaccamise actually its not a well known brand and its a local brand,but this is case is a premium fulltower z7 gladiator,made in 2015,i dont have any height clearence issues but length clearence is noticebly smaller than other fulltower cases.

11700k or 5800x would be the bare minimum you would still bottleneck with these, but it would be a good start if you could not get the latest model CPU and would work fine. even the 12700k was a huge step up from the 11700k so I think a 12700k would actually be ok. but 13700k or better would be the best option in my opinion. i have a 11700k and rtx4080 and its not to bad I can live with it, but I really want to upgrade to the latest model i7.

Traditionally I would've gone for 4070ti but They tricked me into getting 4080 strix because of Vram.

I have no idea why they need that new power connector. The 3080 used more power and didn't need it.
I didn't like the GPU adapter at all and went with a PCIe 5.0 600W/PSU Cable which is perfect. No melting, no adapter needed.

The 9900K was a legit gaming cpu for its time but it would be a good idea to get it upgraded asap to get the full potential of your card.
I do plan to upgrade the CPU in the next few months, noticing in some games it's not performing where it should be

if its not touching the glass and is just warm thats pretty normal. My PC case tends to get warm after an hour or two of gaming

As long as the power supply has 3 PcIE cables you can attach to the 4080s adapter. 750W is the minimum for the FE so you should be fine with it
