I'm pretty sure I've never even touched a PRS. I haven't spent much time in guitar stores since the '90's and I don't remember them being commonplace back then. However, I think they are some of the prettiest guitars out there. Also, Paul is a riot to watch being interviewed.
I started playing guitar in 1978 and didn’t touch a PRS until 2019 when I picked up a McCarty 594 at the guitar shop. Well, first time I ever touched one and I bought it. 😀
Les Paul guy here and also now own a PRS McCarty which is now my main guitar! I swap in my Les Paul's on occasion. Purchased PRS in 2021. I wish I would have purchased PRS earlier.
I just bought a PRS SE custom 24, which I've been wanting for a couple years now (as a beginner I wanted to make sure I would keep playing before spending a bit more money). I'm so freaking happy. Next stop... a semi-hollow body of some sort. Another PRS? Maybe!
The Prs silver sky se is the best sss guitar I’ve ever played. I had two core and sold them/ traded them. It’s something about the neck and the pickups are out of this world.
I own a PRS McCarty 594. Bought it 4 years ago. I love this instrument…The most versatile electric guitar I own. I often refer to it as my “Swiss Army Knife” guitar as it handles every style of music wonderfully.
Fantastic review! PRS make a great instrument across the board. My first PRS was the ZM, I was hooked after that. Sold my LP and never looked back. I have 5 in my collection now. My number one is a 2016 CE 24 Satin Blackout, also in the heard a 2008 Hollowbody, 2012 Korina NF3, 2020 McCarty 594 SingleCut and a 2018 SE 277 Semi-Hollow Soap Bar. Love them all!
Love PRS. I owned, and own SEs as well as Core 10 top. So, it isn’t always price that dictates my purchases. I have a SE Starla, SE Hollowbody II Piezo and just got a SE 594 standard. On the Core side, I had a 594 10 top. I love them all. The Starla has pickups that no other guitar sports and to my 65 year old ears, are actually the most vintage pickups they produce. I like the wide fat necks because I have wrist damage and if a ne k is too deep or shallow, I can’t play it. Don’t get me wrong… I adore my Strats and Teles too but there is a quality in PRS guitars ( all models ) that you can’t match dollar for dollar. From coat or paint to tuners and necks and pickups… you won’t find their equal from another mass-produced brand.
I've been playing for 48 years. I bought a new 2022 Core 10 top custom 24 piezo from John Mann's Guitar Vault a month ago for $5470. It sounds amazing in the low gain sounds, but it lacks deep low high gain sound. (It doesn't Thug) I also hate the trem as it does not stay in tune when used, so I unfortunately decided to totally block it and use it as a hardtail guitar. (I wish the nut was locking) It plays & feels alot like a gibson les paul, but sounds more angelic. I'm going to keep it, but I don't think I'm going to buy another one any time soon, especially for the money
Absolutely love PRS, have had several over the years...1998 Custom 24, 2011 Stripped '58, several SE singlecuts, and got my holy grail two years ago: McCarty 594 Singlecut 10-top in charcoal burst. Will play it until the day I die. Great vids, thanks!
Thanks for looking at PRS! I’m very curious about them. There’s something about them when so many session players use them. The 25” scale length is appealing to me.
I have owned my 97 McCarty Ten Top for years and glad I sacrificed to buy it at a time when I really couldn’t afford it, I love it so much that I’m going to the local guitar store tomorrow to get the new Zack Myers edition
My daily driver is CE Custom 24 Blue Matteo flame top. Excellent tone and playability. Constantly generates attention and raves at most every gig I use it at. Also have several SE's I use as back ups. A Tremonti and Custom 24 with natural quilted top.
They are great guitars, I have 3 SE's so far. My 1st was a 594 Double Cut. Then a Silver Sky, and recently bought a Custom 24 Quilt Top with an ebony fretboard, it's a beauty.😃
My first was a prs se mark holcomb I was blown away. How it looked, felt and sounded. It was the first guitar I didn’t strip down to the wood and replace the rest. I how have 2-7 string mark Holcomb 3- 6 string mark holcomb and 2-277. Each one is in a different tuning. I’d rather swap then take the time to retune. 1 7 is backup and 1 6 is also backup.
I have 5 PRS guitars: a 2012 Tremonti SE, 2021 Zach Myers, 2020 Custom 24-08 SE, 2019 PRS SE Angelus AE50E acoustic, and a 2019 CE 24 semi hollow. Love them all. The fit and finish on all the guitars is excellent. Some of them are works of art visually. Presently saving for a core model.
I have an SE Custom 24 from the mid-2000's in tobacco burst that I bought new. A Custom from that era doesn't have the coil tap. It also does not have the bird inlays. It has what were called "iridescent moons". I have never felt the least bit slighted when PRS added the coil tap feature and I have never considered upgrading just to get it. It is a wonderful guitar regardless of price. Plus, their gig bags from back then are actually quite decent. PRS SE offers a lot for the money. Still happy with mine.
I got a PRS SE Custom 24 after wanting one for years. I bought it after quitting guitar for 8 years. But after trying other guitars, I realized that I didn't really like the SE Custom. It sounds so dark and muddy, and the neck is sticky. And I've tried other newer SE Customs. However, I played a S2 Standard and that was a really nice guitar. Even with old rusty strings it sounded and felt fantastic.
I have '96 Custom 22 10 top(my first and favorite) a 2008 Custom 22 w Rosewood neck and a 2009 Custom 24 quilt top...all are great core models...love em
I have a 2017 SE Standard 245 I bought used at GC in 2018. The output jack is a little loose after six years, but it's otherwise built like a bank vault. I think the Vela is the one I eventually want.
I have a lefty SE Custom 24 in Black Gold Sunburst and a lefty SE Custom 24-08 in normal sunburst. I couldn’t be happier with them. They complement my Strat, Les Paul goldtop, and Gretsch White Falcon beautifully.
Wow! Had no idea and wondered what it all meant. Just got my first PRS. A 2005 MIK SE Soapbar II. 5.6lbs and the P90s scream. Thank You for the great video and information! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
I own a PRS with a serial number start 84xxxx. I’ve owned an SE EG for while. I now have an SE Custom with a gorgeous Burr Walnut veneer and last year I bought a SE Hollowbody II Peizo. I would love an SE McCarty single cut but am distracted by the SE DTG. Jury is still out on Silver Sky given I have a couple of G&L S500 with swamp ash bodies
I have played a few PRS guitars and even borrowed one for an extended period of time. They are very nice, and if I already didn't have too many guitars, I would jump on one. The issue is always, which one? I would not go much above an SE model, they just get too expensive above that. This being said, I know for sure the SE models are just fine and have excellent quality. I have bandied about the idea of buying one of a bunch. The Zach Meyers, the Hollowbody II piezo, the Custom 24-08, the Eriza Verde.... honestly, there are plenty out there. NOT the silver sky though. I appreciate the upgraded design on the Strat, but I have a Strat, and a Kramer Suprstrat... no need for more Strat type guitars. This was a great concise rundown. Thanks! I think the last time I genuinely considered a PRS, I was torn on a final decision between the Zach Meyers, and the Eriza Verde. This was based on look and advertised features. For future knowledge, if anyone has experience with either model, let me know what makes one stand out from the other and recommend one if you like. Additionally, if anyone has reason to recommend the Custom 24-08 over either, I'd be interested in hearing that argument as well. The Hollow Piezo is out though.. more guitar features than I would use of have use for. Great video, and I welcome any suggestions on my comments.
I have a PRS S2 standard 24 in antique white it has 58/15 pickups it is lightweight and is around 6 lb 6oz plays a treat great tone well worth the money, thank you for a great video
Growing up, PRS guitars were being played by great musicians/bands that I looked up to. PRS guitars were also known (to me) to be unattainable because I couldn't afford them as a kid. Now as an adult "making money", now I'm looking into one lol
Currently in my collection, I have the PRS SE Paul's Guitar, PRS Tremonti SE (with the Charcoal Maple Top veneer) and my personal favorite the PRS 245 SE Standard. It's the cheapest of all 3, but the best built. It is a workhorse. I prefer that SE over my Gibson Les Paul's, Fender Strats, etc.... It's too bad they stopped making it and replaced it with the SE 594.
I have an SE standard 24 I got it used in mint condition, I don't think it really got played, I only payed $299.00 and it came with a hard case. I sold a guitar to the pawn shop for $200 that I had $70 in, so I came out good.
Love the video! Fun fact. That quote was actually directly from the CEO of Gibson's testimony. They basically threw out their own case! It was a great day at PRS when we heard the news!
Well I'm not in a position to afford any PRS (or any new guitar) at the moment. But I do have 2 old Korean PRS SE's and love them both. A hardtail Custom 22, I got used, it's one with a flat top, and the Bernie Marsden signature. I've change the pickups, the Custom because it was too hot for me, and the Bernie Marsden because I could. but they are still amazing value and give guitars 3 times their price a challenge.
I recently bought a used CE 24 bolt on with dot fret markers and a knob type pickup selector, no switch. Serial number 7 CE 32327. I paid AU$900 which I’m not sure is a good price but it’s in near mint condition. The guy who I bought it from has had it for more than 10 years I know of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've got a 1997 McCarty (the guitar that I liked the best at that time from them) SE 277 Baritone & an SE Paul'''s Guitar. The SE line is amazing as long as you are okay with a veneer top (if getting the Figured Maple top style of guitar). I'll probably be adding an SE DGT to my tool kit in the future....but waiting for a demo or a clean used one to show up.
Just stepped up to my first PRS, an S2 McCarty 594 Single cut and I love it. The vintage pattern neck is like a slightly smaller version of the 50's pattern Les Paul neck and IDK how else to describe it besides it's a LOT of fun to play, smooth and fast. The import pups and electronics sound kinda on the dark side but they are quite dynamic and between the tone controls that work quite well and the coil taps you can get a pretty broad range of tones from it. Also I think anyone who prefers the 24 3/4 scale length would really take to the 594. That's about the only thing you didn't mention about any of the 594s was that it stands for the scale length, 24.594 inches. Overall it's kinda like having a more comfortable better playing Les Paul that's a bit lighter. I'd like to check out a Core 594 but I don't think I'll ever have that kind of budget. Can't wait for y'all to hit 50k, you keep edging closer all the time! Digging this PRS but I'm still all about some Les Pauls and green is my favorite color! Keep up the great work guys, some of us are digging it!
I sat down with a Gibson SG Std and a PRS SE Opeth Fredrik Akesson because I wanted the depth of tone a mahogany guitar could bring. No brainer: PRS had an incredible broad range tone and quality of build was excellent. I bought it. The only problem for me now is that it is a whale at 9 lbs. and is wrecking me. So, I'm here looking for an alternative for multiple genres.
I'm a fan, had a se24 that I couldn't bond with. And at this time I own a '02 ce22. It's a work of art. Plays, looks, sounds, all great but for some reason I just don't feel like it's a keeper. Would love to get my hands on a singlecut core 594, 245 or even an sc58.
I have 5 Gibsons, 2 Fenders, 2 Yamahas, 1 Sterling, 1 Line6 Variax, 1 Danelectro Electric Resonator and 1 PRS. It's an SE Custom 24-08, the only PRS of 4 tried over the years, that stuck.
I have a collection of over 40 guitars, it contains many iconic models from the past but a lot are budget to medium priced versions. The modern and versatile guitars make my heart beat faster tho and i tend to spend more on those. I love PRS, so consistent quality in all ranges. SE: Silver Sky, Paul’s guitar, Hollowbody II Piezo, DGT. S2: Studio standard 22, Custom 24, McCarty 594 SC. CE: 24 semi-hollow. Core: McCarty594 DC. On wishlist: Special semi-hollow or Studio.
My next guitar will be probably the S2 Mc Carty thinline ;). But I want a SE Custom 24 Quilt too lol , I spent an hour in the shop playing this amazing gear
I own two SE's , a Zach Myers which is fantastic and a" King Crimson " that is a POS !! The latter has poor pups and the clear coat around the fret ends cracked the first week 😡
I think Paul is a seriously cool dude. I like the look and sound of his guitars and have tried quite a few but I have never bonded with any of them. Always been a Strat or Tele guy. Thought I might like the silver sky but didn't. It's weird as I think their amazing guitars but I just don't feel it when I play them.
Hey John. I like all your vids and guitar breakdowns. Something slightly off topic. As Epiphone have done their IBGibson line incorporating CTS pots etc. Do you know what pots Ibanez are putting into their current 2022/23 Artcore AS93? Thanks.
I’ve always preferred the more traditional looking guitars, but for something different I would definitely be interested in a PRS. The SE Custom 22 Semi-Hollow in a black or darker finish would be pretty wicked.
Not to familiar with PRS, so I don't know if you covered their entire line up, but I dint see any P90's. Do they not make any? But I'm looking forward to the SE McCarty review.
I've really really wanted to like PRS guitars. They are I think the most beautiful instruments on the market. The feature list is as good as or better than most other guitars. In that SE range you get a lot of guitar for the money. All that said I've just never been able to warm up to them. There is something about the sound of the "S" series pickups that just sounds dark and flat to me. I thought maybe it was just the guitar I had so I sold it and bought another. Same thing. Then sold that and bought another. I've come to the conclusion that to my ears they just sound muddy. At that similar price point I've owned an Epiphone, Mexican Fender, and Gretsch and they just seem to sound more lively. I can't explain it but that's been my experience.
I’ve met a lot of women in my day…maybe I have met less guitars. Usually, as I guy, we settle for a woman that will have us. If a very special one comes along she usually doe not want us, well maybe for a night our two, or if your lucky a bit longer. When YOUR guitar comes along you just know it. As soon as you pick it up there is something special. I’ve ordered and sent back a lot of mediocre guitars. I’m a mediocre player but a pretty decent arranger. I’ve run the gamut from 300 eu to 1200 eu guitars. In the era of machine made computerize production there is not much human energy shining in guitars these days. Especially the name brands. I kept a 300 eu Ibanez and sent back a slew of Fenders (Ventura, Player PLUS), Squiers (Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Tele’s), and all the other big names: Charvel pro-Mod, Epiphone SG and a ES-335 (shipped with a busted tuner); a Larry Carlton S7; a YAMAHA Revstar Standard. As far as relying on RUclips videos…they are like women, and men too, on dating apps. I lot of talk but until you meet them in person you can’t really tell. I am glad THOMANN has an easy return policy! Now I’ve got a PRS SE Custom 24. It has by far the best quality at this medium price range (tho I’m thinking of swapping for locking turners). It sounds great. I like the maple top; I like the wide, thin neck. It comes with a gig bag. It just feels like a great value 777 euro($845). Is it a keeper? For now, yes.
Never played a PRS. Will most likely never. My comfortable spending range is under $1000 that SE territory. I happen to find "Student" in Student Edition to be a bit insulting. It implies child or less of a player. Now I'm big on being a student of the game but when you wear the label of student it denotes you shouldn't be taken seriously. Such as student driver or student nurse at the hospital.
I have asked the question several times on demos and on PRS's channel - "what's the deal with switching to Cor-Tek from WMIC" and there has been zero answers or responses. Hard Pass; Cort shouldn't even exist, they had to literally move to a different country or dissolve as a company - how bad do you have to be as a manufacturer to get exiled from South Korea? These usually get deleted, so I expect that. If you have questions, do your own research. There are a lot of instruments in this world; I don't have to support these with my wallet or face time.
Oh boy, if you're gonna have a moral outrage over where something is made, you might as well throw away all the electronics in your house and clothes as well
PRS guitars in my humble opinion suck so bad that I have stopped taking them in for setups and repairs at my shop. They are just cheap as they come. Finish, hardware, electronics, bridges, tuners, truss rod adjustments and truss rod covers. I hope I never see another one ever again. And don't go there because I have seen all models and all SUCK!!!!!!!!!! Sorry!
@@franciscvmpbellThat was such a ridiculous reply as you may like foreign cars while I buy only American made cars. You may like hot dogs but I enjoy a nice steak. My opinion and it is not ridiculous. You are ridiculous for saying they are amazing guitars when I don't think so. I like Gibson and Fender guitars. I have been a guitar tech for over 45 yrs and have worked on some of the world renowned guitars for some awesome guitar players and none of them played a PRS.
I'm pretty sure I've never even touched a PRS. I haven't spent much time in guitar stores since the '90's and I don't remember them being commonplace back then. However, I think they are some of the prettiest guitars out there. Also, Paul is a riot to watch being interviewed.
Another “never touched a PRS” club member right here. Yes, Paul is a character!
I highly suggest you put your hands on one. I’m a convert from another brand. First time I touched a PRS, it was like finding new talent.
I started playing guitar in 1978 and didn’t touch a PRS until 2019 when I picked up a McCarty 594 at the guitar shop. Well, first time I ever touched one and I bought it. 😀

The Prs silver sky se is the best sss guitar I’ve ever played. I had two core and sold them/ traded them. It’s something about the neck and the pickups are out of this world.
Check out our new demo out today, I agree! Thanks for watching
Silver sky se over the core edition?
I’ve seen a couple others say this as well.
I have 3 PRS SE Guitars. A Custom SE 24 08, a Custom SE 22 Semi-Hollow and an SE Silver Sky. All great guitars.
I own a PRS McCarty 594. Bought it 4 years ago. I love this instrument…The most versatile electric guitar I own. I often refer to it as my “Swiss Army Knife” guitar as it handles every style of music wonderfully.

I have the SE Mira version. I like it a lot, it’s light and easy to play. It is vintage cherry in color.
I have a c22 sh, a Zach myers, a mira, and a pauls guitar. Dgt and 594 are coming this year as well as a sh vela.

I’m thinking about buying a purple CE 22 . They want $1500 but not sure what it goes for new .
I believe i like the more rounded top carve of the SE solid body line vs the USA S2 and its sharper carve lines on the tops.
i have a PRS SE single cut korean made and so far i loved it PRS is awesome
I've got a 1997 McCarty (the guitar that I liked the best at that time from them) SE 277 Baritone & an SE Paul'''s Guitar. The SE line is amazing as long as you are okay with a veneer top (if getting the Figured Maple top style of guitar). I'll probably be adding an SE DGT to my tool kit in the future....but waiting for a demo or a clean used one to show up.
I am confused between the PRS SE CE 24 and the PRS SE CE Standard Satin..is there any difference between these 2 models? Please let me know.
I bought a used 2001 Santana Se, I was lucky I got a good deal. First edition of the Sanatana Se, very well made, A keeper.
I love prs… mine are Santana and SE std 22 camo… never regret have these 2…
I'm a fan, had a se24 that I couldn't bond with. And at this time I own a '02 ce22. It's a work of art. Plays, looks, sounds, all great but for some reason I just don't feel like it's a keeper. Would love to get my hands on a singlecut core 594, 245 or even an sc58.
Im looking for the zach Myers semihollow. I dont hace any semihollow and i wal looking some epiphone also
The S2 just switched to all American pickups this year :)
I have my 60th birthday coming up and I want to get my new “main” guitar. Can’t decide between 3 SE models ie Paul’s, McCarty and DGT. Any thoughts?
Im thinking about getting the se dgt model cause i like tobacco burst and its got a tremolo
I have 5 Gibsons, 2 Fenders, 2 Yamahas, 1 Sterling, 1 Line6 Variax, 1 Danelectro Electric Resonator and 1 PRS. It's an SE Custom 24-08, the only PRS of 4 tried over the years, that stuck.
@ValentinoLuggen The Yamaha Revstar, GIbson Les Paul and Strat primarily in the studio, the Fender Acoustasonic also at gigs, along with the Variax.
Prs is one of my favorites qc is awesome play and sound wonderful
I have a PRS Se Silver sky and just love it
I have a collection of over 40 guitars, it contains many iconic models from the past but a lot are budget to medium priced versions.
Do you restring all these weekly ? 😮
@@matt79hz Lool not weekly! I learned to restring and do set-ups myself and service them all once a year
@@Remsterdam very cool..
Id use elixirs so they don't rust out in a month. 👌
The SE models are actually made by Cort.
I love my PRS SE sunburst scored it for $450
My next guitar will be probably the S2 Mc Carty thinline ;).
Since they're made down the street from me, you'd think I'd have one. I have played an acoustic. Not bad. Never touched their electric models.
I have a 2005 soapbar ii with p90s Mik, would like a zach Myers, Paul's guitar or a 595 or a 24-08, well I'll take any of them really lol
Hey John. I like all your vids and guitar breakdowns. Something slightly off topic. As Epiphone have done their IBGibson line incorporating CTS pots etc. Do you know what pots Ibanez are putting into their current 2022/23 Artcore AS93? Thanks.
I would like to do some Ibanez reviews soon, I'm not sure! Maybe somebody can comment. The Artcores I've played sound great. Thanks for watching.
Many thanks. Try the Ibanez AS93👍
So you have the Core Custom 24 for $3850?????
I want the se custom 24.
I have an S2 McCarty Thinline and it’s the easiest playing guitar I have. Light, low action with no buzz, love it.
Does it stay in tune and is it a real maple cap or veneer ?
Aw-man! You could have at least played us out. Next time maybe. Great info on PRS. I’ve never played one but they look quality.
Lots of demos on the way for PRS! Thanks for watching
I’ve always preferred the more traditional looking guitars, but for something different I would definitely be interested in a PRS. The SE Custom 22 Semi-Hollow in a black or darker finish would be pretty wicked.
Agreed
Not to familiar with PRS, so I don't know if you covered their entire line up, but I dint see any P90's. Do they not make any?
But I'm looking forward to the SE McCarty review.
They had an SE Single-cut model a long time ago (15-20 years ago at this point) that had P90s. Wish they still had it. It looked amazing.
Have a artist series, custom 22
I have the Paul’s guitar
PRS needs some models with Sustaniac
I finally have the money to love American Fenders and real Gibsons, but I'm not rich enough to be a PRS fan too . . . yet.
Spoiler alert for our upcoming reviews, I really really like the SE line. Very affordable, Thanks for watching!
I wish i could get a guitar but i. Far to booke even Thomas i love guitars looking at then and sutch Even plaing when visning a shop Thomas kinda new
I’ve met a lot of women in my day…maybe I have met less guitars.
You must be fun at parties.
Is it pronounced “veil-a” or is “vel-a”. I’m pretty sure it’s the latter
I’ve wanted a 513 since high school. I’m just gonna grab one. Fk it.

❤🌟🙌🏼🔥
I can only dream of touching a PRS guitar😢
C'mon 50k I need a decent guitar
I can not stand PRS
Thats unfortunate. Thanks for sharing.
Allergic😂
Lost the point
I have asked the question several times on demos and on PRS's channel - "what's the deal with switching to Cor-Tek from WMIC" and there has been zero answers or responses.
Hard Pass; Cort shouldn't even exist, they had to literally move to a different country or dissolve as a company - how bad do you have to be as a manufacturer to get exiled from South Korea?
These usually get deleted, so I expect that. If you have questions, do your own research. There are a lot of instruments in this world; I don't have to support these with my wallet or face time.
Oh boy, if you're gonna have a moral outrage over where something is made, you might as well throw away all the electronics in your house and clothes as well
Is cortek as good as World Musical Instruments who make top end Schecter and LTDs which are great guitars?
Definitely don’t like the body shape and style of PRS guitars. Stratocaster all the way man.
paul reed smith never made a good blues guitar in his life
PRS guitars in my humble opinion suck so bad that I have stopped taking them in for setups and repairs at my shop.
