Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties in social interaction and communication and restricted or repetitive patterns of thought and behavior.
Research works suggest that between 30 and 95 percent of children with ASD have been provided with Complementary and Alternative medicine (CAM). National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) defines Complementary and Alternative medicine as a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that
are not generally considered part of conventional medicine. Ayurveda comes under the group ‘Whole Medical System’ included in CAM.
Ayurveda uses a combination of methods to assist the management of ASD. It has been clinically found that through strategic practice of herbal medicines, therapies such as massage, and life style changes involving dietary regulations, autistic children can become functional to
an extent.
