GOOD VIDEO SIR,ONLY HAVE THE OLD GRAY-BLUE FIGURES. MY BROTHERS AND I COLLECTED THE FIRST RELEASE SETS OF ALL AIRFIX IN THE EARLY 70S.BOTH 1/32 AND 1/72 SERIALS.STILL HAVE MOST OF THEM,AS MY BROTHERS ARE GONE NOW. TAKE CARE
I wish that Airfix would make their soldier figures from the same material that EMHAR made theirs from - it can be bent, and stays the way you bent it - arms, legs, etc., and it takes paint beautifully, unlike the polythene used by Airfix, which you have to 'prime' with watered down PVA glue so it will take paint without it flaking off as soon as it dries.
The older figures are better. The plastic had more " forgiveness " , flexibility. The new blue figures break to easily and I don't like the color. Go back to grey for wermacht, blue grey for luftwaffe,od green for american and khaki brown for british...... see, I solved it lol..... thanks for the video, oh bye the way, I too like the " red " boxes, they look great ! 😁👍❤🇺🇸
A couple of months ago I bought the Hornby ''red'' 1/32 British Infantry 14 figures set. The figures are brown. I never had the original Airfix 29 figures set that was released in the 1980s. Does anyone know which colour they had? Standard green?
I have a few of the target box soldiers. The relative scale was a bit off. The German infantry soldiers were much bigger than the Africa Korps and the British 8th army
Some of my absolute favourites in Airfix 1/32 figures is the "Modern British infantry" and "Bundeswehr infantry", produced in the 80´s I think. Do you have them?
@@toysoldiernostalgia But sadly, on the other hand, their russian "enemies" were totally unispiring, and with only a few poses. It seems they were made by a totally different sculptor who hadnt the same budget...
Nice review! I'm old enough to have been able to buy lots of the Airfix 1/32 scale 1970s sets. In the 1980s I sort of stopped buying and playing with them but I always kept them. So I never had the later released WW2 British and Italian Infantry sets. A couple of months ago I finally acquired the British Infantry, the red Hornby set. Not sure but the brown figures seem to have almost the right uniform color and hue? Nevertheless I'm thinking about painting them.
I have some German soldiers from WWII, I also have American, British, Russian and Japanese too. The Japanese are my favourites. I have some American independence soldiers that have some French troops too!
Airfix has pretty much abandoned its focus on toy soldiers they are focused on their model kits. The material and amount of soldiers you get now reflects that. The older softer poly plastic material must be more expensive than the K-resin as its called they use now. While the hard plastic soaks up paint better the brittle plastic breaks easy.I have been mad at getting broken weapon tips from shipping lately.
@@toysoldiernostalgia Some of the sets will probably never be made again especially The German Mountain Troops and British Infantry Support Group. The few sets still floating around will be worth a small fortune soon.
The newer versions are obviously not as good as the originals, that dark shiny blue plastic is dreadful. Whoever thought this was a good idea, obviously doesn't like the product.
Its almost like Airfix isn't even trying anymore with these soldiers.Just use any color material just to get rid of it to save money. Its not a good look for the company to be so careless about its customers.
I've been saying this from the get go the current Airfix is dung. I know my language is harsh but it's just the truth. I brought a few new ones when they first came out. I ended up giving them away they were that poor in quality. 70s early 80s were the golden age my opinion
I agree. I don`t realy see the new figures place in the market. If you want figures to paint and use with models 1/32 is the wrong scale. And there is sooo many great 1/35 scale companys out there.
No comparison. New ones are total crap! Airfix need to sort our the clowns who are manufacturing the new soldiers, and Quick. I won't buy the new ones and i'm sure lots of people feel the same way.

Another great video. Thanks mate

It would have been great to have the colors of the old set match up a bit better for the different countrys.
Agree 💯 percent

Yes it`s the same green just a tad bit shinier then the 70´s sets.
i kind of like the blue...it reminds me of the airfix 1/72 union infantry

In one of your video's you showed a huge box of waterloo. Will there be a video of that?
Yes of course :)
@@toysoldiernostalgia thank you.
I remember these ln a smaller scale😊
супер солдатики, спасибо за видео!!!

Yes I do have them. I agree some of the best sets Airfix ever made.

@@nissafors I agree. Those later sets of Modern Russians, Nato Infantry and SAS looks like a totaly different sculptor.

I´m gonna place an order directly from Airfix and see how much damage there usually are on these.

Just ordered them from eBay instead. It says all….
Eney of the set com with tanks and jeep
Nope.

The blue of those German Paratroops is awful.
For sure.
It's just like the old 1/76 'OO' scale Union Infantry. A horrible colour to paint over.

@@brianartillery The old 1/72 scale French Foreign Legion figures were also blue.
@@FrankJCarver Yes. I'd forgotten about those. Red was another colour that did not like to be painted over.
