I used to work here about ‘97. Loved it so much. The atmosphere and kinda sweet smell of sweets, baking patisserie, hard to explain. ❤
This place brings back soo much memories. Used to be a great meet up point on a Saturday night back in the early nighties with friends.
I always used to play the Outrun game in the arcade.
I remember the cheesey fries from one of the restaurants on the ground floor and not forgetting the sweets. The sweets were a must have in the sweet shop on the left before leaving out the main door at the front.
Memories. 😊
Those were the glory days.....sigh. I had some amazing times here and its gone FOREVER!!!!!! Picadilly Circus just will never be the same.
Its now going to house a large mosque, planning permission was passed in May 2023.
@@eliakimjosephsophia4542 WTF??? Why??? 😭😭😭
Muslim Mayor, Sadiq Khan. @@truthhurts3305

You should have seen it in the 80s! It was so beautiful and an amazing place to visit when in London! It is truly criminal how it has been left to wreck and ruin! In fact, we heard most recently that it may become a Mosque, so most definitely no longer for the enjoyment of every person who visits our once beautiful city 😢💔
This video was obviously long after it's glory days. But in the 90's this place was buzzing. I worked in the HMV Trocadero games department for the latter part of that decade. Amazing times that we'll never get again.
I miss it
Wow so different and deserted. Very early 90s as you were going up the escalators you could hardly hear yourself think. It had a carnival type atmosphere whereby there was hardly room to walk. If I was a billionaire and buy that area and build the whole attraction just like how it use to be.♥️
The 90s in there were something else. That video made it look like a ghost town.
So true. There is nothing at all like his in London now. So sad.
Even without SegaWorld London, it still looks really cool. Wish i was born to see this place.
I loved going to trocadero as a kid with my family. I miss playing at the arcade, it was so much fun.
Miss this place so much, was surprised to see the Eagle Eye movie poster making this video from 2008 (quite late time in it's modern life), I remember it with the SegaWorld Arcades in the mid 90s best, but still nice to see, thanks for the footage on this channel =)
was even better during 1996, way way better.
It's 2021 and I'm looking back to some videos here in RUclips to find when Trocadero was still around back in the day. I've been there quite few times with friends just to play arcades. Tokyo Toys was even around that time. It's really darn shame that they had closed down.
Yes passed it on the routmaster few months ago demolished now, like the elephant and castle shopping centre
So cool that place
I Really Do Miss This Place :'( I Remember Always Going To The Arcade To Play Some Games..
I was in London last week and I was shocked to find out Trocadero is gone and got replaced by a dozen gift shops all selling the same crap.
First time I have been there it was like being on a another planet, Wow, how big???
I used to go there to game upstairs and buy jewellers and to buy costumes of Bleach and Naruto from the shop downstairs. The glory days.
Wow watching this... remember Internet Cafes? Haha. £1 an hour.
Nostalgia
Don't forget the Rock Island Diner, whereupon the staff would leap upon the Bar worktop, and belt out hits from the film Grease.
i love London the best city in the world
oh the sweet centre (L)
I envy you!!!!
My School/College days and 🌃nights😂😂😂
Miss it Nickelodeon and alien war😢❤
i have many fond memories of Trocadero, its boring now. it used to have amazing attractions like The imaginator, F1 racing, Sega World and Alien War! i was about 17 at the time they were around, and it was so futuristic at the time unlike now
SEGA was the bizness! 😂😂
Now it's a giant mosque.

Why oh why they closed down. London needs this sort of thing
The last time I was there was 2007- it was a weekday though, so no one was really there (i was with a student exchange program), so the arcade was all empty and my friends and I got creeped out and left- not to mention we were out of money because it was our last stop before going back home, so there was nothing we could do
I went there in 2009
I used to go to (traverse to) Troc once a month fromJersey back in the mid 90's
GAMING weekend with Goggs
alien war in the basement then upstairs for a good old ridge racer 3 screen with a fucking maxda MX5 as a sit in drive!
OMG....a huge sega VR racing setup & daytona ...to boot.
Dakdals nightmare (I think it was) was a big VR thing then
Oh HMV was just on its left side. Didn't they sell videogames aswell back then in the upper floor? I went to the souvenir shop this week. it's soo dissapointing to see that this took over now there.
i went here in 1995 to see nick UK as they had a studio here then but i can't remember what floor it was on can anyone shed any light on this
It’s absolutely disgusting they closed down the troc and let it rot for 10 years.
sorry guys trocadero is dead now the arcade is closed its just a cinema now :(
@210482fmj I grew up in arcades since the 80's lol,. the 90's formed the majority of that part, in Brighton, London and Sheffield. I'm 32 next month, My best memories are from 80's & 90's gaming the friends I made then. I guess everyone has different life experiences.
Trocadero funland arcade is now gone. This was once Sega world before.
wow the place looks deserted, what time of the day, hell what day did you record this?
also they've replaced the internet cafe next to the big funland sign with a lazer tag thing now. it's very new.
Now Trocadero will be converted into a mosque. What will be converted next, I wonder. Buckingham Palace? It is quite possible consiering Brits have lost their survival instinct.
Hopefully, Buckingham Palace could do with updating 😂
As for survival us Brits are hanging on in there buddy
@pr0lite are you serious coz i went there 2 weeks ago i know theres a hmv but no gaming place all i saw was some tokyo shop, candy shop and panda shop but i didnt see an arcade on the lowest floor :( but that was ok because i went namco station instead :)
Can't believe this used to be SEGA world. what a shame...
Was there ever an Exhibition or Museum devoted to English Football in The Trocadero?
this place turn into a mosque?
yes

@@ketiakgatal7950 yes, next to gay bars, prostitutes, alchohol and drunk men pissing in the corners, wonderful 🥳
Before gen X destroyed everything
@210482fmj Sorry to hear that mate. I made so many good friends there and wouldnt have had employment and travelled the world without arcades. A lot of us used it to learn to dance and enter pro events aswell. I guess the minority always ruin it for the rest of us.
@pr0lite what!!! all i saw was a hmv store not one of them console things anyways if you have xbox give me your gt and i play mw2 alot aswell but im not as good as you say you are
Not like it used to be....
I went to an ordinary Nottingham comprehensive school with Dominic Mulroy - who created GAMERBASE !
I just cannot believe it ! ! !
