I’m 76 and learned how to play the guitar ten years ago and this skill still gives me joy and relaxation. I am aging gracefully and looking forward to a future of many more learning experiences.
That's truly inspiring! It's amazing how learning can continue to bring joy and fulfillment at any age. Wishing you many more enriching experiences aheah!
Being around negative people can be challenging, but it truly pushes us to grow stronger. Like they say, 'it takes two to tango' sometimes their negativity is the fuel for our personal development. Thanks for the inspiration!
Enjoying the fruit of my labor without feeling guilty, sharing wholeheartedly without expecting any return and just being grateful for whatever i had achieved at my old age has given me peace at this stage,I’m grateful for God had given me the chance to live this life with courage and confidence, thank you for sharing this video for giving me more valuable insight to learn and share❤
The point about not neglecting physical health resonated deeply with me. It's fascinating how Stoicism emphasizes the mind-body connection, reflecting that taking care of our physical health is also a way to honor our mental and spiritual selves. Has anyone else found that improving physical health has had a positive impact on your overall well-being?
Thank you the isolation is because of others wants and needs it is overwhelming and drags the life lite down. Never giving or sharing stops all feelings of any togetherness...
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's important to recognize how others' demands can weigh us down. Remember, taking time for yourself and setting boundaries can help restore balance and connection. Stay strong!
"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts; therefore guard accordingly and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature." - Marcus Aurelius
I listen to a variety of the stoic podcasts when I exercise first thing in the morning for 35 mins every day. If I’m having a bad day at work I’ll also put my headphones on and listen while I travel on the bus to work. Like physical exercise needing to be done regularly so does keeping our mental health well by listening to these podcasts every day. I can’t tell you the huge difference this has made to how I handle problems, stay focussed, motivated and well
The segment on financial planning was a wakeup call for me. The idea that peace of mind is linked to financial security is quite Stoic. I'm curious, how many of you have started to look at your finances differently as you've gotten older? Any tips for those just starting to plan?
Opening your heart leads to huge risks that may not be desirable at any age, these day's. Discernment is imperative. God gave you instincts from His image of being, so we need to pray & trust our instincts.
While avoiding mistakes like neglecting health or staying in toxic relationships is crucial, are we overly obsessed with the 'perfect life' in our later years? Perhaps the Stoics teach us that accepting life's imperfections, even our mistakes, is key to true peace and wisdom.
This video highlights how vital mental health is to our overall quality of life, which many often overlook. I've found that simple daily meditations have greatly helped me. I'd love to hear what routines or activities others have found beneficial for maintaining mental health?
It is normal life will take its toll your body is s machine if you don't maintain it and service it regularly you don't have to live like a monk to stay reasonably healthy just don't abuse your body too much 😅
It’s so true that social relationships can greatly impact our happiness, especially as we age. This video reminds us of the Stoic belief in community and mutual support. What are some ways you keep your social bonds strong and avoid isolation?
It is really a valuable lesson one thing that is difficult in life is how can weavoid if the toxic person is one in your own family how to deal with such a condition
Adapting to technology was a key point that stood out to me in the video. It's amazing how staying tech-savvy can actually keep us connected and mentally active. Has anyone embraced a new piece of technology recently that has made a significant difference in your life?
The hardest thing is walking away from toxic relationships because usually these relationships are with the people closest to you friends, family etc you feel guilty turning your back on them especially ifvthey have problems
I'm already 42 years but at any time I ask people to guse my age, almost 99% will always say I am 27 years old. I am from Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 West Africa, but now in the US.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Reading can be such a powergful companion during tough times. Wishing you strength and peace. You're alone in this community.
Absolutely what I do and enjoy, but can hardly agree with 5. People are not perfect at all, and relations are not easy, but if you chose a man 50 years ago, you are with him when his health and charracter become worse probably.
It’s important to approach ideas with a critical mindset, but dismissing them outright without exploration can close off opportunities for growth. Sometimes unconventional approaches may offer unexpected insight.
@@KingStoic101 That would make sense if un-proven ideas were given the same weight. But they're not. We are educated to look up to people who had NO greater understanding of the world then any one else. That is absurd. If you'd like to discuss the idea of male cowards being reborn as women let's do it (Plato's idea) But I doubt either of us would end up cleverer then when we began.
Have you ever made one of these mistakes?

The video is very practical and easy to understand! The takeaway is that we need to let go of toxic relationships to protect our peace and happiness.

Yes, discernment and listening to instincts are important. Praying and trusting our intuition will help us make better decisions.

Thanks for sharing! Daily meditation is really great. I personally find journaling and exercise very helpful too.
Why do we accept deteriorating health in old age as normal?
While aging naturally affects the body, adopting healthy habits and a positive mindset can help maintain better well being as we age.

My heart has been bad for 30 years. I didn't have the best food and was abused for 35 years. Two of my children and I was working long hours.
