Every year in April I burn a big fire in the garden to dispose of the previous year’s brush and tree trimmings. I spread out the ashes and till them in. Good for the soil. Yes the soil is slightly acidic. Great garden every year.

One OK reason I've seen for adding (some) ash to compost was just diluting/dispersing it instead of applying it to the soil directly. This is to prevent concentrated patches from becoming soapy lye in rainy weather.

I use hardwood ash yearly in my garden beds and perennials and have no issue with high ph as I only use moderate amounts. My garlic gets it when planted in the fall and then again once it's a foot tall.

I have been adding ash to my compost bin for decades and I have pretty darn good gardens every year, but my compost is primarily red & white oak leaves which are pretty acidic as well as pine needles also very acidic.
What is your take on these items mixed with wood ash? please advise

Can we mix Wood Ash with vinagar to neutralize the pH and then add it to the garden?

@@Gardenfundamentals1 Hello! You have a great channel. Thank you for sharing all those valuable lessons you learned. After watching this video, I believe that in my situation I probably shouldn't use ash as a fertilizer. Is there anything I can spend it on? I don't want to put it in the trash...
