Just received C$1,480 in small denominations for a Christmas present & my February flight. My sister was amazed at the beauty of the 10s, 20s, & 500s. She was really shocked that the exchange was $40 USD, lol.
You mentioned colombian peso being an extreme example (which it is in a way) but my favorite example is the vietnamese dong. Current value 1usd = 25,500vnd 😅😂😂😂 when i lived there i made maaaaany millions and LITERALLY everone is a millionaire (DONG millionaire)
I'd rather a pound of paper $1 bills, than a pound of (mostly zinc and copper) pennies. Given the option, I'd 'accept' $1,000 bills in place of mentioned $1 bills. But then: I'm an agreeable sort, after a fashion ...
