    I have been struggling with the concept of an autumn journal. I have found lots of things to use, but they are all so bright! I love autumn, but partly for the melancholy aura. This video has resolved so many of my creative issues. From just one video I have so many new ideas to knock down the too happy autumn papers etc. I am using mostly my own papers and lot of the collage fodder that you taught us a while ago. Thanks for another really instructive, but fun video.

      @allisonjames2923 Год назад

      I’ve been making some AI digital art & trying to explain the muted Autumn colours I want to a computer who can’t see but only pictures “classic” bright Autumn colours, has been a major mission! But… an awesome video I watched where a watercolour artist just used Burnt Umber & Ultramarine Blue put me on the right path. Since then, I’ve found various colours that have fit with my more muted & moody Autumn forests than the classic bright sunny-skied Autumn trees & leaves in picture books. Burnt Sienna, Dark Burgundy, Forest Green, with Phthalo blue/green, Indigo, Paynes Grey etc. Haven’t found a way of translating those into Distress Oxides though 🤔🤷‍♀️

    • @victoriabergesen6775
      @victoriabergesen6775 Год назад

      @@allisonjames2923 Thanks Allison. Those are good color choices. I have been using the Distress watercolor pencils to tone down some of the brights. I use Distress Oxide sprays on papers and splatter with some white gesso and metallic water colors for backgrounds. The backgrounds are also good for die cutting autumn leaves.

      Congrats on getting the whole palette!! I've been hoping for that for you. I don't have them all (because I don't think I would use that "whatever" color, I don't do yellow, etc. "sqeezed lemon." I only have it because I had to make a rainbow.) Ok, when I saw the color palette, I was in shock. I love how you picked it, but when I looked at it, I thought, "How does that go together?" This should be good! But as usual, your magic, and it's perfect. A couple of times, I was saying that's cheating. (Gathered twigs & the elimination of the yellow doily), twigs was true to yourself, weird pallette but that made it Luise,s pallette. but the Black Doily was genius tying it all together visually & on your journal page. It was perfect! I feel like I'm watching a magician. On minute your looking at an empty hat and the next BAM. There's a rabbit in it!🤔 I'm mesmerized by you! TFS❤ya

    Ah yes. Right at the end the page is happy! It’s funny how art tells you what it wants to be & often it’s very different from your intention. But once you put the last few layers & the butterfly on, it all made sense, but when you put it on the page, it slotted into its place like the final jigsaw piece. I definitely “get” yours & Barbara’s collages far more than I do most. The only other person I’ve found who has the same kind of talent in that as you guys is Robyn McClendon

      I have all my Ranger colors in little shelfs on the wall above my craft table, so that I can see them well. I followed the Ranger pallette - go to their website and download the color chart, that's really helpful! The most helpful thing for me is that my mediums are ordered by color, not by medium. Does that make sense? For example: it starts with the color spun sugar. Then every medium that I have from that color is there in the same spot of the shelf. Holy moly, that's hard to explain, I hope you understand what I mean
