Thanks for going into so much detail! We have watched Tim Holtz do this sort of thing as a completely intuitive playful art. However, when we amateurs try it, we get a muddy mess. I appreciate that you went into so much detail and painstakingly explained each step. I don't prefer one side of the paper or another, I would do one of each every time.
Tim Holtz tells you to dry each layer using Distress Ink or you get mudd, but oxide blends nicely. Try oxide sprays go to Joggles.com for good prices over $50 1/2 off shipping.
thank you for taking the time to explain these oxide inks; it is really helpful and gives me a newfound appreciation for them. Just yesterday there was a sale where I could buy one, get one free. I ended up getting 10 new oxides ink pads and 6 oxide ink sprays to add to my collection. Today I got to watch your video; totally a win win!!
These are exquisite Luise! I so appreciate how generous you are sharing your ideas, these are techniques I would never think of doing. I celebrate with you all the positive feedback and support you are receiving. Well deserved. 👏🏻❤️
Ah... welcome to the pleasure of Girl Scout cookies! I learn so much from you. Ive worked a little at this. Not so good so with your tips I think I’ll do much better. I would use both sides but for embossing, definitely the smooth side.
I was quite amused when you said "Holy Crap!" There was a day when women used to make those lovely cross stitch samplers with sayings like "Home Sweet Home" but I now find that the junk journal devotees need to start making samplers saying "Holy Crap" because it seems so much more suitable and likely something we all say more often than we think.
Luise, you described me perfectly at the start of this video. I have 58 mini Distress Inks and am now swatching them as you showed in your other video. I am finding out so much more about them. I have also fallen in love with Distress Oxides now and starting to build a set of them. They will also be swatched on the same card as the Distress Inks, using your process. Thank you for all the knowledge you share, I love watching all your videos. 🤩
Both versions look gorgeous, Luise. I love the combination of the colours and the stamping on top of the green parts. It's absolutely beautiful! I'm a fan of textured paper, but I have to admit that from the cards you just made, I just can't choose; they are both so gorgeous and cool! Thank you for sharing another very interesting class about distress oxide inks 😉. And thank you for your generosity.
These are beautiful Luise. I prefer the card with less texture for two reasons. I love that there is more colour and I love the way that the embossing comes out better on less textured watercolour paper. I love all of the details that you shared that will be especially helpful to newbies. 🤗🇨🇦🤗 Liz
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I love your approach to learning and experimentation, the excitement in your voice and positive energy toward learning. If result is unexpected, you still love it and are positive. You also provide so many tips and insights along the way. What a wonderful way to approach life!!
Hot Dog! Now I know other uses for my distress oxides. Loved the smooth side - I hate the waiting time for anything to dry, but will do it because you make it work beautifully!! My 5th grade friend, Claire, comes to my house to make journals and other art projects. She's a Girl Scout and of course I bought 6 boxes of Girl Scout cookies from her. She loves your techniques we've learned watching your videos. Thanks again for sharing with us in the USA!!! ❤
Hi Luisa, I am so glad you are enjoying the Girl Scout cookies! I have not yet gotten adventurous enough to try any of the oxide inks. Your video made me want to do some experiments of my own. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and sense of humor. Hugs from Texas
L0vE these backgrounds miss Luise! Thanks for this amazing art lesson. 😊 I like both backgrounds and would probably decorate them differently. I'm looking forward to seeing how you decorate yours. ❤
I have searched all over for this type of video. I have oxide ink and could not achieve these desired effects so they have just been sitting in the tin. I have saved this video and you are a great teacher. Your makings are so different and more exciting. Thank you!
Actually I love both when I start putting together my journal I think I will add a page to each of my signatures each done on a different side. To me that would be special because I would always think about you because you showed me how to do something new and different
Thank you for going into so much detail to explain this process. I love the oxide effects. I have 2 distress oxide inks. pink flamingo and denim blue. I have a few distress inks in other colours, greens, browns, gold and I am just playing with them by using the same techniques you show here. I like mixing the ink and oxide inks to see the reactions. it is pure fun and delight. I love this layering effect.
You are amazing!! I can't believe all those tiny oxide ink details you achieved! Thank you so much for teaching us all these little details that really do make ALL the difference. I love both of the cards, but I think I'm with you - the smooth side just flows so nicely, it's my favorite!
You are such a good teacher, answering questions i haven’t even thought to ask! I prefer the smooth side of the paper, though both are gorgeous. You’ve given me lots of ideas to experiment with.💙💙
I liked the smooth side best! Thanks for taking the time to explain your process - I never have been able to get those tiny spots and dots. I'm going to practice doing multiple layers now. 😀
Thank you so much Luise.... I have bought Distress Oxides because I like what they do but have not really been able get good results with them. I am usually disappointed. You really take the time to go into detail and this will be so helpful to me. Thank you
Luise!...Thank you so much for the "tips & tricks". I always struggle to get those smaller areas, or more of the "mottled", oxide effects. Now I know how to accomplish that! Hooray!🤗💖 p.s. As @tinytaven said... You ARE a "natural teacher". I greatly appreciate that you explain "how & why" things happen. It makes it easier for me to comprehend...and to remember.😉 Much love and blessings from California, US.💜💜💜
I NEVER stop learning from you! Thank you so much. I think I will be able to get a much better end result now. Probably my biggest problem is my patience in drying time😂
I really like the smooth side of watercolor for this process. You made the texture side look equally as beautiful. You are so good explaining in detail for beginners and refreshing the techniques for the rest of us., grand ‘ole job, Luise. You’ve inspired me to use this technique on watercolor paper for the Easter cards, I’m planning to do for our granddaughters. I have those rabbits from Timmy that have the X patches for them. I think they are so adorable. Have a grand next week.
These are awesome. I love following your tutorials and I’m learning so much. Thank you for teaching us your fabulous techniques. I just finished a “grungy” junk journal using your beautiful butterflies & flowers kit, together with some of your background papers. It took me out of my comfort zone and I love it 😊
Thanks so much for this video. I was having so much trouble with the oxide sprays that I was ready to give them all away. Everything I made was muddy and ugly. This step by step video has made it all make sense! 💛
I echo everyone else when I say thank you for such a wonderful tutorial on oxide inks. I didn’t have a preference of the two sides but can see if one wanted just that little bit more texture, the left one was it. I am excited to practice this today and loved the comment about adding this to future journals and thinking about you as we do! Enjoy those cookies!
Funny girl. Do put out a “few” cookies to share with Gerri and definitely hide the rest for your waiting times while you work. Fabulous tutorial. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦
thanks for sharing these techniques Luize! Now I see how I can get better depth...many more layers! btw, I like the smoother card stock better...the textured one is cool, but takes away some of the beauty of the oxides because it's too much texture. Happy crafting! Barbara
Wow, I didn’t know you added that much ink! Thank you for all the amazing info! Also I had to go get a cookie-you we’re making me hungry! Lol!!! I like the one to the right, the smooth one better. They both turned out great though!
I think your success today was a direct result of ‘the cookies’, lol. Honestly, every time I watch one of your videos, I make notes so I can try something new… Thanks for continuing your sharing ways with us. Love to you
Tha k you so much for explaining the excess chalky issues. I think both are beautiful and could be used in fodder or backyards. Now I have ro buy lost shadow and pumisice stone 😂
WOW!!!!! Thank you for your Wonderful explanation and showing your techniques. This card is so Beeeeeeautiful. ( I laughed about Barbara and her fingers and her brush.... I watch her a lot too, however, she's getting really good about getting ink'd up with her fingers, especially when using gilding wax! >wink
You are a natural teacher!! ❤ I love how you identify a problem and provide the potential options and details for solutions!! Hats off to yah!👏🏼👏🏼‼️
Smooth side is my vote.
Love the way you teach us…just adorable accent. I love when you say, ‘yeah?’ Thank you!!! I’ve learned so much.

Completely agree!

Luise, I'm so happy to see a video from you today! What a great video. Love that you are sharing exactly how we can do these techniques
I like the smoother side. I love the colors.
I was quite amused when you said "Holy Crap!" This is a great tutorial! You’ve answered many of the questions I had about technique with Distress Oxide inks.
I actually liked the textured side the best. I look forward to seeing how you use them. TFS.

This really helps take the “fear” out of trying out Oxides, especially helpful as to how the layers help create interesting effects. Thank you!
You are such a good teacher, answering questions i haven’t even thought to ask! I prefer the smooth side of the paper, though both are gorgeous. You’ve given me lots of ideas to experiment with.💙💙

Beautiful, I prefer the smooth one ❤. Thank you so much for the demo. 👍🏻
I do like both sides of the paper. The grid pattern on the rough side adds a nice texture. This is a great lesson.
These are beautiful! Thank you for the clear explanation, very helpful. 🙂
I think I prefer the smooth but both are beautiful!
I think I like the results on the smooth side of the paper. Thanks for this video. Always love your detailed instructions.

I really loved how your journal turned. Before I knew who's digitals you used, I was thinking it had a Luise Heinzl feel to it!
Thanks so much for this video. I was having so much trouble with the oxide sprays that I was ready to give them all away. Everything I made was muddy and ugly. This step by step video has made it all make sense! 💛

Thank you so much for sharing this, Louise! I struggle with backgrounds and this really helps me understand it all. 🥰
Hello Luise. I love the embossing on just the oxide ink part. That looks so cool. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you. ❤
Awesome background!
Funny girl. Do put out a “few” cookies to share with Gerri and definitely hide the rest for your waiting times while you work. Fabulous tutorial. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦

Oh bring on the cookies!
WOW!!!!! Thank you for your Wonderful explanation and showing your techniques. This card is so Beeeeeeautiful. ( I laughed about Barbara and her fingers and her brush.... I watch her a lot too, however, she's getting really good about getting ink'd up with her fingers, especially when using gilding wax! >wink
Textured paper for me!
I would like to know what you use on the stamp itself before you stamp and then the embossing powder
I use embossing ink on the stamp
Louise is the splatter brush Barbara sent you in your Amazon store? I can’t find it.
No it isn't, I think she bought it in Vienna. Try fan brush on Amazon or Google
Luizen in need you help p to choose 4 distress oxide inks and re inkers to use with them
I have a question : would we get the same results using a gelli plate instead of a block?
Definitely not. The ink spreads totally different on the gelli plate. But of course you can use it and also layer the ink over each other.
Could you link where to get the acrylic blocks?
Here we go: amzn.to/40PKE40
🤩🤩🤩
❤
Is that water color paint?
No, it's distress oxide ink
The smooth side seems like the better choice for me.
How can I send u some materials 4arts and crafts. I have so much and would love to share.
that's really kind of you! please send me an email to info@luiseheinzl.at
Both! I know no help at all. 😊
Surface of water color paper is called "tooth" as in water color paper has tooth.
Awesome video! Thank you so much!
Very helpful. Thank you!
Great video, thank you ❤
