- During the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed I have filmed the all new Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut.
It feels like the fantastic Koenigsegg Jesko debuted a lifetime ago. It first appeared at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, followed by the top-speed-focused Jesko Absolut a year later. Since then, the world has endured a global pandemic, tech shortages causing massive supply chain disruptions, financial uncertainty, and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. No wonder it feels like a lifetime ago, but the Jesko Absolut still lives.
It will be the lead test car for the Jesko Absolut program, using the same twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 and nine-speed transmission from the standard Jesko. That is, if you can call any Jesko standard.
"The Absolut feels very natural to drive. Because of its seamless shifting, whether up or down, everything just happens much faster," said Koenigsegg Test Driver Markus Lundh. "There are no delays, it is very responsive and behaves exactly the way you would want it to. We spent thousands of hours in CFD calculations. We've streamlined this car from not just an aerodynamic and design perspective, but also from a high-speed stability perspective. As a result, the Jesko Absolut has a phenomenally low drag of only 0.278 Cd."
The purpose of all that development is to create what could be the fastest production car in the world. The Jesko's boosted V8 engine makes 1,600 horsepower (1,193 kilowatts) when running on E85 fuel. Combined with the aerodynamic changes and the nine-speed's gearing, the Jesko Absolut has a theoretical top speed of around 330 mph. Company founder Christian von Koenigsegg has already said it will be the fastest car Koenigsegg will ever build, now or in the future.
If 330 mph is accurate, it would easily elevate it beyond the 282.9 mph average top speed achieved by the current official production car record holder, the SSC Tuatara. It would also easily eclipse the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ unofficial speed of 304 mph. Bugatti is the first automaker to break the 300-mph barrier in a production car, however, it's all unofficial because the speed was attained in just a single direction versus an average in opposite directions. Making back-to-back runs in opposition directions negates any possible wind or elevation influence on a vehicle's straight-line performance.

Everytime Koenigsegg introduces a new vehicle, its as if the whole world stops in its track and get a good look at the mastermind behind the engineering of these beautiful unique cars, they are the cornerstone for hypercars in my opinion and always set the bars high for the rest.

@@Smzxe LST is Light Speed Transmission, It does not have a dual clutch either. The clutches are all in the transmission mounted on each individual gear, that's why there's 7. Yes, It is a 9 speed but I won't go into detail on how the entire transmission works. The reason it shifts almost instantaneously is because when one gear is engaged, two clutches on the aforementioned gears are engaged. To switch gears, it dis-engages them, and engages the clutches on the new preferred gear therefore creating an "Instant" shift. It's cool, but has some flaws from an engineering perspective.
The gearbox and engine response is truly crazy. The TC is one of the fastest I've seen, thanks to that crazy engine response. And this must be the best sounding turbocharged V8 of all, by miles.

Christian has been making, in my opinion, the best cars available. The innovation that’s presented in both how the company operates, as well as the cars themselves, isn’t seen anywhere else.
Christian is one of the only people to have pulled off a turbocharged flat plane crank v8 that sounds as good as some N/A v12s. Mclaren and Ferrari need to take notes. That being said, this car's looks and sound are absolutely phenominal, not to mention the incredible technology that went into that transmission.
Apparently when they were finishing up the engine, they tried it out and decided it didn’t even need any exhaust tuning. It sounds this good- and they got it ON THEIR FIRST TRY.

Koenigsegg tried to set a record on the Nurburgring with the One:1 back a few years ago. Unfortunately, they crashed the car, it was the company's own One:1. From what I've heard they haven't made another attempt since. I'm not sure why, it seems like it would be a superb selling point if they could set some sort of record on the ring. I guess people who actually buy these cars don't care enough about lap times to warrant another try. There are only 7 of these cars out there, maybe they didn't want to build a 9th car, (even tho there would still be 8 cars total since one has crashed). None of the 7 owners seem to be willing to risk crashing their own One:1. Meaning it most likely won't be attempted ever again, which is a shame.
So with the Jesko, just like you, I really hope that we will get to see its full performance and capabilities on the Nurburgring despite Koenigsegg's unfortunate history there.
It's so easy and cliche to say "these cars should be driven properly, not stored in a garage forever" in a youtube comment, and I understand the reasons why most owners don't. But still, I believe any brand that makes a car of this level should push the car to its very limits so that we can at least get one proper track time. It should be an unwritten law, an integrity-type thing. Otherwise, the line between true engineering marvel and show car is blurred
Especially in recent years, there are so many new wannabe supercar brands advertising these super exclusive "fake" hypercars and making all sorts of bold claims about their performance numbers. I say "fake" because a lot of these companies release the car's full spec, meanwhile they haven't even started production, and their prototype isn't even a functional car, it's just an empty shell. The Devel Sixteen is a good example of that. Some of these fake car brands are entirely built on lies and false claims that can't even be verified, but it generates a lot of hype, and people believe it, so it just keeps growing.
That's why I think it's becoming somewhat crucial for brands such as Koenigsegg to differentiate themselves from these untrustworthy companies with the REAL thing. Show the pure, raw, and undeniable performance of the car. Otherwise, the car's true potential only exists on paper a you put yourself in the same basket as all these other shady hypercar brands who can only tell you how fast their car is.
That's why the Jesko needs to get a proper lap time on the Nurburgring, remove any doubt, and let people know what's the real deal and what isn't.
Nurburing put a upper speed limit on their track, crippling koenigseggs chanses to take any record effictively, since their car rely alot on giving the power/weight ratio space to work. Acceleration and top speed. So what happend was basicly Politics. They knew koenigsegg would break ton of records, so they stomped on it. Guess other manufacturers have alot of pull in germany.

Imagine getting arrested on the ring for speeding, and the policeman is like "If you go on public roads you can drive as fast as you want." @@AnglersTaiton I looked it up, the speed limit was instituted back in 2015 and it ended in 2016. Koenigsegg wasn't able to test in 2015, and crashed the car the next year. The reason why they didn't have a lap time was something out of Koenigsegg's control. So it most likely didn't affect sales at all.
I initially thought they made an attempt, crashed, and gave up. Which is still what they ended up doing. But the car was sold out, and they had missed the time window in which getting the lap would've helped sales.
They still attempted to get a lap time even tho it wasn't going to have much impact. I respect that. The car crashing was the cherry on top. By that point most of the damage was done, making another car just to get a lap time isn't worth it.

Don’t know yet for sure. There’s the Hennessy venom F5 and SSC Tuatara trying claim over 300mph. Bugatti seems to have said it did but has been too afraid to run it both ways on the same road to claim the world record so they don’t count.
It’s either between the tuatara and venom f5 they’re both lighter and more powerful.

Target 500kph is not that easy! There are just a vew places to get to that speed... And everything must be perfect to get there! Weather, Tires, Road, Wind...etc. And I believe, there will be only a handful of owners that ever want to drive 500kph in their cars...😉

Koenigsegg has triplex, direct drive, the 600hp 3 cylinder, the lightspeed transmission and more, you can't tell me bugatti beats that. Everyone just keeps on saying that "Oh see this Jesko Absolut, it can go over 500 kmph and can beat any car next to it" But the real thing that no one talk about is that the Koenigsegg hasn't been tested yet so it is not right to conclude that it can beat any other car that easily. At the time when this comment is posted, chiron 300+ is officially the fastest car in the world which is proven, so in future the Absolut might take the record but for now it ain't the fastest.
Looks and sounds awesome, I love Koenigsegg creations but finally they make something that doesnt sound like a dump truck. or look rather brutal. Koenigsegg new designers have brought style and elegance to the brand.

Why does it sound astronomically better than the Regera? Jesko rips, where the Regera sounds like it's blowing bass bubbles in comparison.
I'm no engineer so I could be wrong, but I think the reason is that the Regera can't rev super fast while going at that speed due to its direct drive system. The Jesko doesn't have this issue because it has multiple gears.

Regera has a cross plane V8 and no gearbox so by the time the engine comes alive it's 200 mph plus. Jesko has 9 gears and a flat plane V8 that sounds even better than a Ferrari.

Peak power vs usable power are 2 different things, 1600hp and almost no turbo lag, worlds fastest transmission and considerably less drag, assuming the GTR isn’t set up with a 4 link and drag slicks I doubt it would be able to outdo a Koenigsegg over say 80 when the awd doesn’t help any more,
But I can agree that a car you built yourself that isn’t supposed to go anywhere near as fast can be a lot more fun,
@@kalle5548 Thanks for the info however I did not build this car myself it was built by Switzer Tim Switzer those are the people that originally began building Nissan GT r's back in 0809 threw about 17 or 18 but Mike my GTR as it only may be 1400 horsepower is not the ultimate thing you can do Konig sag bill's automobiles that are 2000 horsepower plus but so does Nissan GTR They build them to as much as 3000 horsepower And that is keeping up with pretty much whatever corn executes on the road there's no doubt that Christian is update Christian is one of the most incredible engineers of all time when it comes to automotive and it's the automotive and the products he puts on the ground are absolutely phenomenal. But don't ever count out a built GTR that someone like AMS in Chicago or cicio in Georgia builds these guys are doing incredible things and it should be noteworthy more people should know what's going on the cars are absolutely phenomenal.
