With Revair its best not to move it up and down while drying. You can move down as the roots and below starts getting straighter. You have to hold it at the roots longer. High heat and number 7 tension gives the best results on thick natural hair. Plus if you're doing big sections like you are doing you have to dry it longer. My daughter hair is 4c and thick. Her hair gets really flat and straight once you learn how to use to right. I have 4b hair my hair gets pretty straight using it too.
Can you please explain why your 4b only "gets _pretty_ straight", if your daughter's 4c "hair gets *really flat and straight"?* Do you find/feel that it works superiorly for thicker, tighter coils; or is her hair just healthier?
@@BL3SSed-Bliss No I just think I spend more time on her hair than mine. I do smaller sections longer on each section. Her hair is way thicker than mine so I try to make sure I take my time on it. I don't spend as much time doing mine but I'm sure if I do I will get results like hers. Lol.
@@annfrank90 Aaahhh, okay, thanks so much! This totally makes sense, and I do relate. I was curious whether this would work well for myself *and* for my mom, and we differ in texture and thickness, similar to you and your daughter. Now I feel it’s a go 🚦…Thanks again❣️
I bought the Revair. I’ve been using it every wash day which is weekly for me. It’s a total game changer. I wish the wand was lighter and less bulky though, it’s not very ergonomic. I’m sure improvements will be made with subsequent versions.
Love the video! I have been waiting on you to review this lol. I just got my Revair in the mail and used it last night. After watching at least 100 videos first (lol) plus reading the comments in each, I found some pretty helpful tips that helped me get killer results. (Note: When I say "stretched" I mean stretched ALMOST to the point that it's ready for a silk press or something. Not quite to that level, but way better than any stretch I've ever gotten with a traditional blow dryer!) 1. The 1-7 are the suction levels, not heat. I have Type 4 B/C, fine strand, low porosity, medium/high density, practically waist-length hair, and found that levels 6 and 7 on high-heat got my hair SUPER stretched. 2. Put the wand directly on your scalp then move it around and around on the section to keep the heat from concentrating in one area on your scalp, plus it will get your roots dry and stretched. This method also got my edges and everything completely stretched. 3. Using a wide-toothed comb (or fingers) to glide through your hair as you slowly pull the wand down the hair at the end of your 90 seconds helps get the hair and ends even straighter. 4. Leaving your ends in the wand for a few extra seconds helps finish stretching them out. 5. It takes practice to get a technique down to best fit your hair needs! Maybe in the future, you can do a "Do I Still Use The Revair" or some kinda video to see if your opinion changes! Thanks for the great content Beauty. (No, I'm not a ReVair rep or anything like that. I just love the results I got last night LOL. This mf still expensive af though.)
Wow this makes so much sense 🙌🏾Will definitely be referencing this next time I use it & that sounds like a great idea! I got ya'll with an update in a few months 😊
Good tips. Everything you said is the same thing I have noticed. Simply Tamika here on RUclips has got the technique DOWN! She's a hair dresser and demos it properly. I see a lot of user error in many first impressions videos.
I’ve been considering both, the only thing holding me back from Revair is that it seems like a single use product (ie, no diffuser etc. only straightens and dries). Trying to decide which will be best for my regular usage. This was a helpful video. Thanks for your thoughts.
I have Revair Dryer and I LOVE it 😍 You need to do in smaller sections and the level has to be on 6 or 7 and don't dry so quickly.. If you do that the results are going to be better than Dyson!! And what I love about Revair is that you don't need to comb/brush hair to get it straight and there's not much heat, so there's is less breakage in the long run ...
I own the revair. I love it because it’s not an excessive amount of heat and not an excessive amount of damage from combing, buuuuuuuuuut,I don’t feel like my hair stays straight for the same amount of time as me using a blow dryer with a comb attachment. It gets very straight, but within an hour,it has puffed back up.
You were so excited when the rev air hit your hair. 😌😂💕 I have the Revair and I use the 7 setting because it works the best. Bigger sections require to dry longer. And I’ve never had heat damage with the revair on the highest settings. 💕🥰
I've been trying to decide between the revair and the Dyson. It was my birthday a couple of days ago and this was my big gift to myself. Want to point out it was a major milestone birthday so this is a splurge. I'm a lazy natural with type 4c hair who has extremely sensitive scalp so which would you suggest bc the prices are roughly the same in my estimation
Thanks for your comment. Just purchased the Revair for myself for Christmas and when with it b/c I was concerned about heat damage and wanted to give myself the best option to avoid heat damage.
Ahhh literally just received my dyson today after I returned my rev air for the same reason!! It didn’t provide enough stretch! I screamed when I saw your video perfect timing 😍😍
I purchased both of those dryers. I had to return the RevAir. It was hurting my shoulder so much to hold it up!!! ....and my hair was still too "poofy".
Wow I've heard a few people complain about their shoulders but surprisingly I didn't have any issues. Maybe because I only did 1 half of my head?🤔 What are your thoughts on the Dyson tho?
@@CaramelCoils ....I tore my rotator cuff last summer. So maybe that's why it hurt me so much. I've only used my Dyson like once or twice, because I never blow dry my hair myself! (too much work! LOL) I go twice a year to my stylist and let her blow dry & trim. The Dyson is better for me if I do need it though. It's lighter weight and the air flow is concentrated. As I've said before: I use my hooded dryer every weekend to deep condition and roller set!!! Well worth the $400!!! LOL :-)
Both sides look great and you did an awesome review. I have been looking to buy the Dyson and you confirmed it’s the one for me. The rev air is cool, but I don’t want to deal with the bulk, noise (omg!) and worrying if my roots are completely dry. Thanks..such a helpful video!💛
i just got the dyson and i must say that is the best blow dryer i ever had. definitely worth the money. i think the dyson side came out the best but the rev air side isn’t bad either.
Yess it's amazing!! & I agree, I think they both came out pretty great. Apparently there's a learning curve with the Revair so I'm curious to know how my results might differ once I get more familiar with it 👀
great review, your hair is stunning! I agree with you, I like the dyson side better too. I think the revair would be amazing for tender headed people and children tho
Great video. I think the Dyson side looks better BUT you have been using the Dyson and therefore have more experience with it vs this being your first time using the Revair. I think there may have been a need to practice more with the Revair as I've seen much better results on type 4 hair. I own neither of these and am trying to decide which way to go myself.
The volume is everything 😍😍,a youtuber called Afope Atoyebi did a video comparing the revair to the revlon ,she explained in it why the revair might not damage your hair as some dryer could. loving the consistency btw
Thank youu ☺️ & I’ll definitely have to check that out cause I was curious about that, like which is “safer/healthier” for our hair! & still not where I need to be but I’m trying 😭 appreciate you ❤️❤️
The left side of my hair has always been more dense yet is easier to detangle. I also have 4ab&c hair. I have a Dyson. I don’t really blow dry my hair much but I diffuse each wash day so I don’t really need a RevAir.
The Dyson for sure because if you want a sleek blow out you can go in with the condescended attachment first and then the comb attachment afterwards for a more laid blow out however with the Revair thats the only kind of blow out you can get
Thank you for mentioning that your hair is denser on the right than the left side, that's the case with my hair as well, and I have been thinking that, maybe there was something wrong with the way I apply hair products on each side. But now I have realized that it's normal and I'm not the only one with the situation❤️
Yess I’m so glad I mentioned it because I really thought it was in my head 😅 but it looks like a few people have the same issue! Seems like it’s more common that we think!

Hi: I realize that this video is a few years old, however I was wondering, Do you think that perhaps the reason your roots did not respond as well to one dryer, as the other, might have been because of the delay in getting the 2nd dryer going? Once some hair gets dry at the roots, it almost needs to be saturated, for a dryer to affect it, otherwise it might require another, higher heating styling tool. Great video.
I’m thinking about getting the dyson. I have the rev air and love that I don’t have to do too much combing and it doesn’t dry my hair out but it’s soooo annoying to handle. I have it in a storage closet and It’s a nuisance to bring out and get set up. Plus my arms get tired when I have to do the top of my head.
I saw another video posted by professional stylist. She followed the directions closely so used the Revair a bit differently. The outcome was much better. I am strongly considering buying one, reading the directions and posting as a lay person. The stylist mentioned leaning your head downward to alleviate arm fatigue. I think I will practice on my friend first if she’ll allow it. I imagine there is a learning curve for self use. I like the idea of drying without tension. The Dyson still requires tension but the stylist mentioned that you must make sure your hair is completely detangled before placing it in the Revair so I guess you are causing tension before rather than during. I am on the fence because loads of money is wasted if it doesn’t work well for non-stylist. 🤷🏾♀️ Decisions, decisions.
What temp and air flow did you use on the Dyson? I just got mine last week. I used the diffuser but I was in a rush. Can't wait toblow out my hair with the comb attachment.
The Revair definitely has a learning curve. I find that when used properly, it really doesn’t cut down on time as smaller sections is best for curly girls & this dryer!
I noticed the detangling brush was used on damp hair then dry-unless you have two of the same. Anyway, Both tools were great. I only have the revair and love it. It’s big though.
Nice seeing a review of this product on higher dense hair...I only see it on low density. I would definitely choose the Dyson. My hair isn't as dense at yours, maybe a bit less...That other product seems like a pain on higher dense hair.
I have both. But I haven’t used the rev air just yet. I have really thick hair and the dyson just doesn’t straighten out my hair at all, leaves it poofy..
The dyson side definitely looks better.I think you get more bang for your buck with the dyson. It has a diffuser but the revair temperature is lower heat than the dyson.
I recognize the Dyson is faster. But, that's because of the heat on your hair with the dyson. Also your hair was wet differently on both sides because it had dried out. I would never be able to style my hair just sprayed. You definitely needed smaller sections. I prefer the Rev. The hair stays beautifully soft no matter how many days in a row I use it. With no breakage. So I don't have to use heat protector. Win/win for me.
The right side of my hair is definitely more dense than my left side lol. And is it just me or does everyone feel like they use way too much heat protectant when doing a blowout.
So If you wanted to get your hair straight to style with a flatiron how long would this take? 😓 that’s my problem I can get it dry but the volume of my hair is huge!
