Encore performances should be the BEST time to display their real vocals, because they aren't jumping around and dancing. Beatiful Gurr I agree with shoobumu though... idols don’t have to dance during encore stage, and as it’s called an “encore” stage, you are expected to sing. I blame JYP for not giving enough 1) vocal coaching and 2) counselling for Twice. Without enough vocal coaching, their singing aren’t improved as much as they can, which makes Twice continue to be unconfident in singing live.. and their lack of confidence is worsened much more as there are insufficient mental counselling to help them overcome their mental obstacles.

Actually jihyo is the best but i would put jeongyeon second before nayeon. She doesnt get many lines for someone who's a much better vocalist than the rest though. And yes, the discomfort on their faces during encore stage is way tooo obvious. Not judging just writing what i observe. I understand their songs probably do not suit their range but only 3 singers get to sing the vocally-challenging parts anyway. It's sad to see the members struggling to sing like one or two lines without even dancing considering how long they've debuted and the fact that they have so many members they dont have many lines or many consecutive lines to sing. Again, im writing my observation after watching many encore stages of them. This would be controversial and im not instigating fanwars. But their juniors Itzy are so much better despite neither of the members being outstanding vocalists - technically. So i dont know what is happening to them. Im using itzy as an example coz they're in the same agency so they were all exposed to the same trainings

Honestly this is a problem because they’re lowkey in a singing career of like 6-7 years and are struggling to sing some of the easier lines. Vocal coaches could definitely help them with bettering their singing techniques.

I think their anxiety is getting worse when performing live without backtrack (or minimal) because of the many criticisms and hate they get. Jihyo, jeongyeon and Nayeon are not the best out there yes, but they can sing. But even these 3 you see the hesitation and lack of confidence in their voice unlike in the early years.
They have to practice their vocal real hard. And prove to the public that they improve and shut the critics down. That's how a truly singer handle critisism.
I still think JeongYeon is the only "Singer" here. Her vocals and techniques may need some training and polishing but she has a great potential. JiHyo might have been better technically but her vocal timbre is very scream-ish and plain whereas JeongYeon has a foundation of a great singer. A great vocalist.

Listen I love Twice but some fans must be delusional when they say “they can sing live, just look at their concerts” if the only time they sound amazing live is in concert it’s pretty obvious they’re not 100% live. A lot of them struggle with the notes.
You know why this is a big issue? Because they are famous and there are so many other underrated artists that are better live but not getting what they deserve while 3 out of 9 members only can sing good live and they got all the recognition. Idols can make debut itself means they're the greatest, at least among the entire agencies. No need to shouting to be good at singing. You need to acknowledge your abilities and capabilities, find your own ways that good to go, practice is the key. Don't forget to be confident, it matters a lot that even you're greatest but have low confidence it could lead you down. Those people just only couple times hear bout high notes become suddenly expert and forget that low notes exist too.

This is so embarrassing. They are one of the most popular groups in Kpop and they sing like this? While many other Kpop idols are trying to fix that common misconception that idols can’t sing with their real talent and hard training, some Twice members don’t even try to sing properly. Momo was never added because she’s a vocalist. Momo was added because of her dancing skills. She was very open about her struggles in the training studio and she said she’s insecure. But she still tries her best for onces and Twice. When you’re hating on her vocals everyday Spreading the encore and mocking her you are openly hating on someone’s insecurities and struggles. Momo has potential but hasn’t been givein much opportunity’s. If I’m being completely honest, momo and chaeyoung or dahyun should switch. Chaeyoungs vocals have been improving a lot and momo has that deep voice that would really suit rapping. THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION PLEASE DONT HATE.

Exactly I am a Once but I can admit that they need some work (especially Momo) . I've seen people commenting under Twice videos saying that the are vocal queens and other idol's need to take notes from them when honestly I think they need to improve alot before people can say that . I'm not hating on them because they are all talented girl's who have alot of potential (especially Jiyho) to become amazing singers BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE ONCE , THEY ARE SINGERS so stop making excuses and realise that your only hurting them and their careers . I don't mean we should hate on them because that is bullying and can hurt their confidence and affect them especially the members with mental health issues but we should rather advise them to get vocal help and be supportive of their journey to improve their vocals.
It’s not their fault they’re being forced to sing at a higher pitch, most of them weren’t born sopranos but jyp forces them to sing at a higher pitch than they should and it messes up their vocal cords. So this is what happens when they’re live, although it works for music videos.(p.s you’re born with a certain range and you can’t really change that with training)
Okay so I half agree with you but I will say they trained for this and its difficult we all know it is but they trained for years to be able to sing and dance I agree we can’t make excuses even though we don’t like it. I’m sorry, but I just personally don’t like Momo’s voice. Especially her “one more time” line in More and More. I hope she either gets further training, or stops singing like that. I’d actually like to see her as a rapper instead, I think that would suit her well.

Its just odd for Twice to be called the nation's girl group yet still have members that lack confidence in their own vocals. I'm sure its partly the companies fault for pressuring them to sing higher then their normal register, but it makes them seem not as good as they can be. I feel there are many other girl groups that have much better vocals like Mamamoo or even Dreamcatcher.

Agree. I think onces are the main reason why Twice won't improve since they're practically babying them and overpraising their vocals. You can love them and still understand that most of the members have poor vocal technique.

This is the reason why I dropped off this group. I love their debut song so much back then and honestly i too defending them for criticism because i thought that they will improve over the years as “monster rookie” that time. But then, the problem arises since they were already promoting for about more than 5years and are having multiple awards and recognitions from different music charts.. still their encore performances are like nightmares for them. Jeongyeon has the most versatile voice in twice and is the most stable Jihyo has has a powerful voice but Jeongyeon range is wider than hers Nayeon her voice is way too high. Sana very nasal reminds me of a chipmunk Mina her voice is monoton and doesnt really convey any feelings Tzuyu same as Mina but worse. If you ask me to remember her voice or parts in a song I just cant Dayeon her rap sounds like someone who is talking Chaeyoung decent rapper but due to the nature of twice's songs her rap has decreased a lot. The rap lines in twice are not it. She needs to train her vocals more as she has been singing in their comebacks lately. Momo I personally have no words for her singing anymore. I also cant use the excuse anymore that jyp makes her sing that way. Even when she is singing other artist songs for fun her voice just sounds awful. I personally feel like her voice is permanently damaged. Overall their songs are completely out of their ranges and I personally dont know what their producer is thinking. I listen to their songs mainly because the melodies are catchy and not for their vocals. After listening to Chaeyoung's justin Bieber cover, they should start letting her sing more in their ballads. Vocally I would even put her after Nayeon, Joungyeon and Jihyo. Beatiful Gurr I agree with shoobumu though... idols don’t have to dance during encore stage, and as it’s called an “encore” stage, you are expected to sing. I blame JYP for not giving enough 1) vocal coaching and 2) counselling for Twice.
Without enough vocal coaching, their singing aren’t improved as much as they can, which makes Twice continue to be unconfident in singing live.. and their lack of confidence is worsened much more as there are insufficient mental counselling to help them overcome their mental obstacles.

Actually jihyo is the best but i would put jeongyeon second before nayeon. She doesnt get many lines for someone who's a much better vocalist than the rest though. And yes, the discomfort on their faces during encore stage is way tooo obvious. Not judging just writing what i observe. I understand their songs probably do not suit their range but only 3 singers get to sing the vocally-challenging parts anyway. It's sad to see the members struggling to sing like one or two lines without even dancing considering how long they've debuted and the fact that they have so many members they dont have many lines or many consecutive lines to sing. Again, im writing my observation after watching many encore stages of them. This would be controversial and im not instigating fanwars. But their juniors Itzy are so much better despite neither of the members being outstanding vocalists - technically. So i dont know what is happening to them. Im using itzy as an example coz they're in the same agency so they were all exposed to the same trainings

I think their anxiety is getting worse when performing live without backtrack (or minimal) because of the many criticisms and hate they get. Jihyo, jeongyeon and Nayeon are not the best out there yes, but they can sing. But even these 3 you see the hesitation and lack of confidence in their voice unlike in the early years.

JiHyo might have been better technically but her vocal timbre is very scream-ish and plain whereas JeongYeon has a foundation of a great singer. A great vocalist.

no u didnt yes the main 3 singers sound great live, but the third one sounds prerecorded to me. There’s no way you really believe all of them are doing 99% live vocals in all their concerts? These are specific performances. Don’t get me wrong I’m not calling them tone deaf or terrible singers but they don’t sound like the recording when they sing live most of the time. A lot of them struggle with the notes.
You know why this is a big issue? Because they are famous and there are so many other underrated artists that are better live but not getting what they deserve while 3 out of 9 members only can sing good live and they got all the recognition. Song of the year, artist of the year, best female group etc.

When it comes to performance like idols, it's about all for you to need focus on [for singing part: each person vocal abilities and capabilities, each person voice types also the song itself] [for dancing part: each person dance styles, again abilities and capabilities also even each person auras]
Okay some idols did the things wrong/off but no need to be too harsh, like you can give them criticism to build up but not hate/malicious comments
Joy of Red Velvet screwed lil bit but she harassed too much by those people even she said herself that she kinda traumatized and scared [bru, failed on the stage isn't a crime, it seems like SM is one of the toughest for the vocal training but come on they're all only human after all, and those people wrote malicious comments just based on one damn mistake, gosh]. Yeri got a lot of hate/malicious comments not only because she joined Red Velvet later but also her vocal. She's good but I guess it's just her voice type that doesn't suit those people taste [I mean it's also preference, just because some things don't suit for your taste, it doesn't mean those things are bad]
Square Up era is one of the best eras in Blackpink journey, kinda the top I guess. Not tryna to be rude, but actually lil bit messed up in their comeback stage and Coachella day 1, both D4 performance [I don't like to watch mr removed or something like that, I'm not interested, and actually there's nothing wrong with lipsync or loud back vocal because must be good reason, just please don't do that too much like lipsynced half of the whole song]. For the Coachella day 1 stage, I guess they were just out of excitement and nervous also the weather. But D4 song itself is the most complicated I guess, I mean it's good song and Blackpink is the only that can perform D4 well, it seems not too hard song but actually lil hard but not that hard, if you know what I mean. Don't Know What To Do is harder to sing than D4, but it seems like they need to take more effort for D4. And it's also ridiculous that people harassed them too much for the situation even called Rosé as sick chipmunk and Jisoo as sheep (?) which I saw by myself. Excuse me for real they did pretty good for the another D4 performances.
And now, Twice. They might not the greatest but they're actually good in singing. But I guess they kinda lack of confidence as time passes. They said that they want to try another concept, it might be the reason. I mean they changed the concept so the song. It matters especially the song. For Momo, I can say she has sweet voice type. You need to be quite careful with this kind of voice type. And yeah, sometimes she sounds too nasally due to the half air half sound method which is JYP's style. And this style of singing being pushed for every song, which meant that she couldn’t experiment or be more versatile with her vocals.
Idols can make debut itself means they're the greatest, at least among the entire agencies. No need to shouting to be good at singing. You need to acknowledge your abilities and capabilities, find your own ways that good to go, practice is the key. Don't forget to be confident, it matters a lot that even you're greatest but have low confidence it could lead you down. Those people just only couple times hear bout high notes become suddenly expert and forget that low notes exist too.

Exactly I am a Once but I can admit that they need some work (especially Momo) . I've seen people commenting under Twice videos saying that the are vocal queens and other idol's need to take notes from them when honestly I think they need to improve alot before people can say that . I'm not hating on them because they are all talented girl's who have alot of potential (especially Jiyho) to become amazing singers BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE ONCE , THEY ARE SINGERS so stop making excuses and realise that your only hurting them and their careers . I don't mean we should hate on them because that is bullying and can hurt their confidence and affect them especially the members with mental health issues but we should rather advise them to get vocal help and be supportive of their journey to improve their vocals.
It’s not their fault they’re being forced to sing at a higher pitch, most of them weren’t born sopranos but jyp forces them to sing at a higher pitch than they should and it messes up their vocal cords. So this is what happens when they’re live, although it works for music videos.(p.s you’re born with a certain range and you can’t really change that with training)

Its just odd for Twice to be called the nation's girl group yet still have members that lack confidence in their own vocals. I'm sure its partly the companies fault for pressuring them to sing higher then their normal register, but it makes them seem not as good as they can be. I love their debut song so much back then and honestly i too defending them for criticism because i thought that they will improve over the years as “monster rookie” that time. Momo I personally have no words for her singing anymore. I also cant use the excuse anymore that jyp makes her sing that way. Even when she is singing other artist songs for fun her voice just sounds awful. I personally feel like her voice is permanently damaged.
Overall their songs are completely out of their ranges and I personally dont know what their producer is thinking. I listen to their songs mainly because the melodies are catchy and not for their vocals. JYPE should let them take singing classes when they are not active and should stop pushing so many comebacks within a year.

I dont understand why JYPE let her sing like this for 6 years knowing that she will get bashed by people. I dont understand their decisions. They should start making songs that fit all members and not only ranges that 3 people can sing in.
After listening to Chaeyoung's justin Bieber cover, they should start letting her sing more in their ballads. Vocally I would even put her after Nayeon, Joungyeon and Jihyo. It is definently time to give the other members more challenging parts in songs. They have been idols for 6years but still get the same type of parts in their songs. Maybe letting them sing more difficult parts or different type of songs will help with their vocals.
I always thought the group name Twice is stupid and unconvincing. They should rename it to Nasal Girls.
Tzuyu has actually been doing really well in encores recently. Her confidence and power actually really shocked me because I’m not a once and I thought she would sing very timidly.
