  • This concept is funded by Plan Finland through it’s SmartUp Innovation Challenge project since January 2016.
The project supports Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLA’s) on the production of affordable and reusable sanitary pads and create link with the sanitary pad users, schools, communities and government. VSLA’s use four marketing models to create access to rural girls and women, promote and sell their products: shops, local markets, schools and health facilities.
Both the reusable sanitary pads and marketing models have been tested, found successful and ready for scaling-up.
