One thing i noticed immediately was how nuanced and articulate are these speakers, two of which are in their late 70's. I work with the elderly, and unfortunately, many people in this mediated and ego-invested culture don't come through it with anything resembling wisdom. If dementia is not present, the congealing of old habits and opinions...old mind matter...can mimic dementia, in the way that these people can no longer access parts of themselves that could allow them to connect with others around them. This rigidity and inflexibility of the senior mind in western countries is, in many cases an attitudinal issue, rather than a physiological problem.

Lol. Where exactly do you think it's better?
How is your culture "ego invested" more than anything else?
Is it? Or are people merely more free and able to act on their own wisdom rather than delegating that to their superiors?
And what in the world is a "mediated" culture?

I love how Sharon holds in a big chuckle when Joseph describes giving a lecture on “contact”😂❤️

I love and appreciate these 3 as well as Tricycle and James Shaheen interviews (I am member of Tricycle). I have been to Spirit Rock twice and another time in Yucca Valley and I listen to Joseph all the time on Apple podcast and I listen over and over and appreciate deeply the way he teaches. I follow the podcast one by one...from way back and listen to them in order and sometimes, I feel I am in a retreat. Another teacher I deeply appreciate is Pema Chodron. So thank you all for being out there making a big difference on the planet and in my life!!

Thank you 💗. "Seeking the Heart of Wisdom" by Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield was seminal to my basic understanding of the Dhamma. I'm very grateful.

Joseph, Jack you you've reached me; I've listened to you both for hundreds of hours. Sharon I need more time with you; I need to learn more about metta. My first wife's name is Meeta. Haha.

these three people, with sheer youthful audacity and an unrelenting sense to do what was meaningful to them (despite whatever negativity or criticism they faced) quietly but very genuinely changed the western world. there's no doubt they did so for the better; thank you for changing my life in many ways

I've been listening to him on the app too and I can honestly say he's single-handedly turned my days around. I'm very grateful to be able to listen to his talks whenever I like/need to.

@@psychedellion I feel the same way. I'm a pretty hardcore skeptic, atheist, and have a general distaste for supernatural speech (including those in Buddhism, like "rebirth"). Having that said, Joseph's brilliant insights on the human mind and his articulate steps for reaching certain states have changed my life in astonishing ways. I am forever grateful for him! ❤
