I love Emily saying just the wildest thing you've ever heard and Lou INSTANTLY going "Yes of course we are on dove-pulled ostritch chariots, don't be ridiculous! What else would we be doing?"
It's so funny to see Brennan Lee Mulligan of all people playing the straight man to these absolute clowns. The way he just exploded when Emily said "Do you think Henry Ford doesn't make car puns?!"
You know every essence of his bird-fact-loving being wanted to argue wingspan, thrust vectors and dove quantity, but as a DM he couldn't ruin such a beautiful ludicrous idea.
Brennan to Aabria, I assume: "Oh, you thought Evan Kelmp was chaos? You thought Opal was chaos? No no, you don't know chaos... but you will... you will meet chaos, and her name is Emily..."
In the adventuring party Emily and Lou mentioned texting each other a ton about the Court of Birds. I 100% believe this was planned, especially since the ostrich chariot is apparently based on one of their spells.
There's something beautiful and complete about the way Lou sets up the "Just in case you forgot, our grandfather..." for Emily just to absolutely dunk so goddamn hard with "Invented birds" like that's not an insane thing to say outside of fantasy roleplaying games. They work so wonderfully as a team and I can't be more proud of them for making each other worse.
The absolute audacity of Brennan Lee "Bird Facts" Mulligan asking how many doves it takes to pull an ostrich when everyone at that table knows damn well he already knows!
His calculations are getting thrown off by the fact that the doves are pulling _laden_ ostriches, and he's unaware of the exact weights of the Earl and Countess, respectively.
Given the amount of force, a North American dove can produce, in addition to that which is required to support their own weight to support the average ostrich I don’t know how much their characters way, so I can’t really figure out that part. It would require somewhere between. 6 to seven adult doves. To support an ostrich on the lighter side.
the fact that lou and emily chose to play the most extra characters on purpose and almost all their scenes this season will most likely be together makes me so fucking happy. it’s gonna go off the rails so fast
These are the same two who shouted that Gilear was the Chosen One at _the same time_ so honestly it's on us that we didn't anticipate this level of chaos
2:52 What kills me every time isn’t just how fast Emily’s trying to backpedal out of getting a verbal ass-whooping, nor the audacity of her sliding in aNOTHER slick bird pun; it’s that small smile she got the moment she saw the opportunity to do it 😂. I’ve never been so scared of a character getting killed off in their own flashback before lmao
I fucking LOVE everything about this! Their delivery is impeccable! The dynamic between the two is so great and they play off of each other flawlessly. Weird, posh, sex-driven cousins? Sign me up. Also the concept of birds being modelled after a specific species of Fey is so charming!
The enthusiasm behind "OF COURSE NOT!" from lou and how he instantly jumped on the idea is hilarious, I'm so glad Lou and Emily got to have two characters that already know each othe,r perfect feedback loop of chaos
I like that it was establishzd at that moment that Emily's character had 100% spent some time on the material plane. Which is an element of her big secret.
The *most* amazing aspect of this entire bit is that Chirp is a level 8 wizard with a 19 INT. With the rest of the cast at a 13, three 12s, and a 10, she is mechanically four times smarter than the next most intelligent player character at that table. She also has maxed-out DEX, a sword, +2 to her AC, and a worryingly skimpy CON, so -- bladesinger, presumably. Emily Axford has thus almost certainly committed to *RPing* this specific character as a glass cannon gish with a 19 INT. This is going to be a fun campaign.
So let me get this straight. She's mechanically the smartest person in the room, but she roleplays as if she's got maybe three braincells and that's when her cousin isn't borrowing them? Everything about that setup is just fantastic. 😆
there’s something so beautiful about brennan “bird facts” lee mulligan being the one to prompt the die roll of how many doves it takes to pull each ostrich
