    Thank you for watching this video, I'm glad you guys are enjoying it! If you watch with subtitles, please be aware that I didn't 100% check the automated subtitles, I went through about 50% really closely and skimmed over the rest - so if you find any glaring mistakes I'd be very grateful to you if you'd just leave me a comment and I can go fix it! :D
    I've already watched this video so many times, at this point I'm honestly kinda sick of it myself haha so your help is much appreciated ;) xox

    Regarding memory, I recall events with sight, sound, smell, and feel included. Sometimes even taste. I don't even have to have an emotion attached to the moment. I suspect memory is not simple in many ways. I can't speak to remembering something exactly the same way over and over again.

    I think If We Were Villains mirrors a lot of the beats of the plays that the group is performing at the time, and a lot of themes that Shakespeare liked to explore in his work. So I agree that a lot of the characters weren't 'realistic' in the way they handled things, but neither really was Hamlet or Macbeth, etc. Most people don't blindly stab someone through a curtain but Hamlet thought it was fine lol. It's not everyone's cup of tea though, I get/respect that!

    You definitely should call 911 if someone is missing. Like, there's no other way to contact the police? I'm pretty sure there's a different number to call if someone is already declared missing and you have info about it, but to report someone as missing you call 911

  • @voxxbg380

    It's actually very good that you analyse and talk about the things that don't make sense to you in books. I had the same problem with Blake Crouch and his fantastical interpretations of science in Dark Matter. I'm really interested in science and was quite disappointed when I realised he actually didn't put any work into making it even a bit realistic in the book. So don't ever "turn off your brain" sis!

    Just started your video and man this is a really great concept and selection you got there!
    I think everybody remembers differently. I, for example, remember small details way better than the bigger picture. So I can remember the smells, the sounds and things like the sunshine blending me way better than the actual situation. I still remember the Situation, but not as clearly as the small things. It‘s really interesting, how our minds work, don‘t you think? 🙈
    Lock every door was a mediocre book for me but I have to defend it a little bit 🙈 I don‘t know what phone you have or if it‘s a provider thing but I access my voice mails through the call log on my iPhone. And I’m from Germany, so this isn’t an American or unrealistic thing...

  • @isobelgarcia1197

    My voicemails show up in my call log. The "recents" call log will show all calls made, whether I missed them, received them, made the call, etc. If someone left me a voicemail, there's the retro tape roll icon that pops up, and I can just tap that and hit play to listen to voicemails. Not sure, maybe it's a US/Android/Verizon thing, but it is definitely plausible.

    I work for a 911 and Police dispatch center. Most people call 911 to report a missing person in America. With larger centers I believe they transfer them to the police dispatch however my center handles all calls 911 or police so we just keep them on the line and obtain information so that they do not get frustrated and feel that no one cares about the situation - also some people cannot contact police any other way if their phone is not working. If an additional 911 call comes in that I need to answer I put them on hold and handle that call and let officers know ASAP especially since missing children are top priority.

    I will say that, unfortunately, I believe setting can make a big difference in the believability of domestic violence and violence in characters. As someone who lives in the US, I have stories about one of my own family members, one incident suffered as late as the '80s, where what occurred to her sounds unbelievable but is 100% true. I have also personally suffered incredibly intense verbal abuse from someone in management at my company when I was a freshly hired person, and in all of the instances where this person lashed out at me, there were multiple witnesses, and no one would speak up for me (I did personally speak up for myself, which, of course made things worse; he made others later on when I was no longer working with him cry). The truth is, in the US, far too often, if a person, especially if that person is male, especially if that person is white, attacks others, even if there are witnesses, even if it is captured on video camera, that person will often get away with it (especially if the attack is on someone who is not white or identifies as female).

    I think if they had told the police about the abuse after his death, they would have been telling the police they all had motive for pre-meditated murder which results in a more serious sentence.

    • @ivymuse
      @ivymuse  4 года назад

      but... it wasn't premeditated murder. just because they would have had a motive for it doesn't mean they would be wrongfully accused of something they didn't do. Plus, there are a whole group of people who had a motive because of that and probably even more that we don't know about because he probably was abusive to other people as well. So it doesn't really worse the situation for them.
      Also, the abuse would have been an indicator for the need for self-defense as well, which is essentially what it was. So I don't really buy that argument 😅
