If this is the first offense with that vehicle then fine him and require him to come to court with proof he fixed it. Just because he has a history of drug related crimes doesn't mean he should be searched. Traffic violations should not mean you can then be searched and have your property seized. A couple of things-
-If they had grabbed for his feet and legs to get him out of the car, doesn't that still leave his hands free and couldn't that have led to the same ultimate outcome?
    - I always think about how de-escalation language can be added into these interactions. When subjects start talking about their rights being violated, just tell them they'll be able to go after us in court and if they're right, they'll win. But now's not the time for that conversation.

My thought watching this was grab his leg(s) and drag him out.... his head may coconut the ground but you'll also disorient him. As John says, "The eyes are the windows to the soul but the hands are the window to the intent" Can you imagine being in a fight where the guy says 6x, "I'm going to punch you with my right hand" ... guess i better prepare to duck. They gave him TOOOOOOOO many warnings and communicated their gameplan too many times. I agree, where were the disarming or disorienting blows...... i feel for the sgt. who never went home that night. I mean sure, if the guy was asleep you might have a chance, but believe it or not, in the real world, most criminals are also skilled in fighting. We literally just watched the guy in this video with absolutely exceptional firearm skills. You aren't going to 1v1 them and use your leet cop skillz to take them down, you're going to out number or out tool them. Guess why cops have a belt full of tools and a radio. Amazing huh.
You clearly have no law enforcement experience either, but are even more cringe by acting like you do.
Whether they went for the arms or the legs is honestly irrelevant here. In this situation, either would have been fine if they simply used their tools properly in the first place. They tazed him in the car like that's supposed to do anything, then they sprayed him, and then washed that spray out with more spray, then they kind of just flailed around a bit and took turns going one on one with him and playing a bit of musical chairs. The sergeant almost did a full 360 around the car all said and done. One cop per hand would have been a 700IQ move compared to the absolute clown show they put on.
I'm not a cop, but it doesn't take 30 years of law enforcement experience to see what went wrong here.

I would assume he’s making that assertion based on his own emotional attachment, because that is completely the wrong opinion. This video should be released to the public so people can see both sides of the fence, that this stuff happens to cops all the time. Cops getting killed while just sitting in the patrol car as well, that way the public has the entire big picture as to WHY cops approach situations with a more defensive/ready to pounce disposition.

Not traumatically or anything because I’ve seen way worse. It just stuck in my mind and I wondered what the human senses are like when you are shot in the head, he kept screaming even on the ground. Body stiffening, so many parts of the brain are affected . Yeah. Stay dangerous folks, stay aware and stay ready.

I have a policy of trying to be nice to people. If things go bad I make decisions with intent, not out of my emotion.
All this kid wanted was respect. That or he wanted to kill someone.
