I do not see how a last day revival and a last day falling away can coexist unless: 1. The "last day revival" precipitates the great falling away 2. It is the revival of an empty "form of godliness which denies it's power" 3. Matthew 24:10-13 NASB [10] At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. [11] Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. [12] Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. [13] But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God... Romans 8:8 NASB and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. The verse prior to 8:8 says that "the mind set on the flesh is hostile (or an enemy) toward God", Romans 8:7. Cmp. James 3:13 - 4:5, where an enemy of God is a spiritual "adulteress". So the essence of faith is setting your mind on the things of the Spirit, 8:5, which are invisible or "unseen things", Hebrews 11:1. To not set your mind on things unseen or heavenly things is to have and serve a god of this world or a belly god. The only assurance that you have that you have that the Spirit dwells in you, ie. that you are "in the Spirit", Romans 8:9, is that your mind is steadfast upon the things of God. Isaiah 26:3 NASB "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. The command of God is to set your mind on things that are above, and if this were predestined, assured state then any command along these lines would be moot or absurd.
