Fully functional analog APRS like the 878UVII+/6X2 PRO and true dual-receiver with full duplex. And a user interface designed by people who actually use the the radio.
Right now I have a internal fight for buy this radio. But maybe i sale my 5055 and buy this one. I think if you connect the radio on a power supply (20amp) we will get couple more watts , easy to 50w.
@@temporarilyofflineI had 2 Retevis versions of them, both died while using Analog APRS on high power. Retevis offers 2 years of warranty, but only first one was replaced under warranty after 9 months of service. 2nd one died after 6 months (80 days of use) Heatsink construction is ridiculous and PA mosfet is out of production (maybe still some Chinese counterfeits available)
I had to send the radio on to the next reviewer. Look for a review on Chuck's channel, I've asked him if he could answer your question: www.youtube.com/@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures
Could you please help me with installing the CPS software for the DMR? I've even tried the updated CPEditor with no luck. I'm about ready to send the radio back because emailing back and forth with Radioddity isn't really any help at all. So I'm just asking for some guidance on installing the software. Is there a video out there that shows the instalation process? Thanks!!
I have one I bought back in Dec of 2023. It has squelch adjustment problems, too much hysteresis, When in crossband mode, it stops working after lets say 10min's and I have to turn it off then back on. Radio definitely needs a some kind of firmware update.
I have the db25. I get good reports going into a repeater. Sounds ok on DMR parrot. I run it through the 12V accessory port. Will say the CPS is totally trash though. There's a 3rd party version that works better. DB40 misses the mark like AnyTone IMO. No detachable face
how do you talk to people from all over the place in 2023, everyone is so polarized and isolated from eachother by social media, it seems like it'll be fine, but then the FIRST person to express a religious or political opinion and it's all out the window, you got a bunch of stupid apes arguing back and forth about how right the other is (thats how CB radio was for me when i tried that back when CB used to be a thing) i dont think they even use it anymore, not in ohio where i live, my radio never picked up anything, i was thinking of tying to get into HAM, but it looks pretty irritating to try and get into just for fun, cuz none of it looks very fun to me, lol speaking of that , what else can one do with HAM without talking to people, because i have zero interest in talking or people, but the idea of it seems cool i'm just 43, disabled and bored as heck, thought i'd try something to help with depression. this looks interesting, but i guess i need to go through your vids here and see whats up with HAM, so far not very many of the other HAM stuff on youtube is this well put together so ive been enjoying watching, thanks for all the effort and work and stuff. i usually need more information then regular folks to understand anything :)
I totally agree with everything you've said. This is why I do a lot of FT8 or POTA. Both of them avoid the "rag chew", but still allow you to connect with people around the world. FT8 is zero voice and almost zero "chat", its just making connections with others to see where your signal goes and who can here you. There are charts and graphs and awards and real time maps available. Its "tech" for sure. POTA is like a practice session for the apocolypse - go to a park setup a radio with what you brung or have around you, make 10 quick contacts using any means necessary and get out. Nobody ragchews on POTA. Let me know if I can help, or check out my other videos for how-tos. Thanks for watching.
What would you like to see in a DMR Radio?
opengd77 compatibility, detachable face, data port, quality hand mic.
Fusion.
@@Hank_W6IR that is Yaesu's thing, he asked in a DMR.
BT Keyboard compatibility for messaging. HTs have messaging capability, why not a mobile in a easy way?

Whatever mode of radio that could help save lives is alright by me, great video tnx bro!
If the locals play DMR, then I play DMR.

Who makes the 5055?
Loving my 25D!
I still want a 25D
Really like my db25d as well! Have had for about a months and with the new firmware all of the issues have been worked out from when it launched.

Do you know if this radio will communicate with GMRS users while in analog mode and of course, only in case of emergency life-threatening?
But of course ;-) on the emergency thing - I don't know if there is a "mars mod" for this radio to make it work on GMRS freqs.
The radio is GMRS capable on rx and tx. Keep in mind about the FCC rules and regulations…
How is the receiver? I found the receiver on the Anytone UV578 didn't pick up on analog very good. I went back to my ID-5100.

the screen doesn't look so great on camera - is it better in person?
In direct sunlight it is hard to see, later in the video I show it in the car and its better out of direct sunlight.
How did you connect to parrot? Hotspot or repeater, and can you use both with this radio. Thanks in advance.
Hotspot and yes.

Sure, tell me where the install is breaking down.

Radioddity is pretty good about customer support. They don't write the firmware, but they will pass along feedback to their builder group.
Nice but no Radioddity here, maybe it'll have an Anytone version down here.🤔🤷♂️
I think this is Kyderra, so whoever re-badges that mfg down there?

I thought a detachable face would have been a good addition as well.
Hi, can this radio be unlocked ?
Unknown at this time, but I'm sure it can.
Hey nice review but there is no such thing as cigarette! lighter anymore it is a 12v jack.. Just kidding.
Right? They take away all the good things!
@@temporarilyoffline yeah, and in some cars, the amp capacity is quite low.
Bring make floor mounted dimmer switches.
Usually you can get a lighter plug when you buy a car. But no ashtray, so....
So do you not need to be a rocket scientist to use this radio for dmr?
It's DMR, so you do need advanced rocket science degrees. Not really the radio's fault though.
Not just the advanced rocket science but also the advanced engineering degrees also.
This Radio ist Shit. First i used the Powerbutton IT fall inside. They used to short screws. They board was complet loose.
Good info, thanks for sharing
