I love how this game is bringing both the PVE and PVP Community together. I don't think I ever would have ever seen a video with maximum and peekaboo if it wasn't for this game mode.
It's funny how different they are in the way they approach games too. Max is analyzing everything and justifying why something is good or bad and Pika just picks up whatever, sends it and does well. Was a fun watch.
@@csquared4538 PIka and Xaryu both have their "Builds" I believe Pika can just make a lot of things work because of his 100 Dyas on this game mode.... but that's just a theory, a Pika theory.
This is a great duo. Max is like indepth analyzing plunderstorm like its race to world first and Pika is just like "yea bro then i killed them all it was crazy"

Apex does a pretty good job with their tournament BR format. It goes like this. The teams play and gain points and whoever gets to a set amount of points say 200 then has a chance to win the whole thing if they win the next game. If they dont then the games keep going until more people have over 200 pts and one of those teams wins. There is no set game limit and it can get very intense as the games go on and more and more people get to the right amount of points. This makes it so that it rewards the people with the most points by giving them a chance to win the tournament early. Its sometimes weird because the best team doesnt always win the day but thats how BR's go. Seems to be the best system ive seen at least so far.
This is basically exactly what they did... Only the top 10 teams in points were able to win it all after winning a game.
@@easysteezy58 But its not. The major difference being in Apex there is no game limit and you have to reach a point threshold to win. There is no just being in 10th place after 6 games no matter the point totals and winning. In Apex if you dont reach a certain point threshold you cant win. That means you have to be doing well to win and the people who are doing better get a chance to win earlier.
@@fenton9620 You pointed out the problem yourself. The reason they have the deciding match between games 6-8 is because they needed the broadcast to run for a specific time i.e. it cannot end early if a single team dominates (like Xaryu&Pika did), but they also cannot run unlimited games if the lobby happens to all be equally skilled.
Even though there is a prize pool, this isn't an actual tournament. This is an exhibition match where the players are performers paid to show up for a set amount of time. So the rules are set up that way. No matter what the point distribution is, the tournament will run for at least 6 games, and it WILL end after game 8.
@@rudlw7937Yeah thats a good point! That didnt hit me at all but thats correct. This was just an exhibition game for marketing and not an actual tournament meant to really test whose the best at this game.
Hopefully in the future as this grows we can get some good competitive content out of it because it for sure has the potential!

If they make bigger groups, they should also add some support skills so there is counterplay against chain stun and is not only insta death. It will also encourage roles which will be a lot fun in competitive, ranked play imo

Agree with Max that the format wasn't ideal but that it would be anticlimactic if it was just based on points because PIka and Xar dominated so much (that said, there were a lot of non-competitors in that tourney. All AWC players would be different I'm sure.) But i think the format could work if they tweaked it a little:
After 4 rounds, whoever is top 2 can win the tourney if they win the next game
After 5 rounds, whoever is top 3 can win if they win the next game
After 6 rounds, whoever is top 4 can win if they win the next game
etc.
That gives those who dominate at least a couple chances to win the tourney when no one else gets that chance. They gotta take their opportunity. The tourney last weekend went to Top 10 way too quick.

@user-vq4wy4db9k I dont think he would be r1 lol, maybe if he put the time and effort into it he could be especially with people like trill, sam, cdew and mes in his corner. But through like the normal experience it's unlikely
12 5 man teams would be insane on Plunderstorm, a true battle royal with people getting YOIKED into fights or all out chaos, someday i hope Blizz considers making it an option

I think the next tournament they could have a more points based win con. It was pretty obvious leading up to this that Pika and Xar where way ahead of anyone skill wise and having a tournament won on purely points would have been handing the prize to them and wouldnt have given any of the pve streamers a chance.
Need another duo stream with these two.

If blizzard doesn't make this free to play someone else will do it. They basically created a new type of game, developers are going to pay attention and improve on it. I think free to play with a battle pass included in your wow subscription would be smart. That way they still add value to wow subscribers, you could have rewards in plunder and in wow available on the battle pass to keep player engagement up.
Really if they market this right the sky is the limit with this game but if they keep it tied to wow, the current wow subscriber base is the limit.
