They weren't terrified. They were with intentionality, integrity, and intensity to perform a spiritual solemn song perfectly. Bobby Hatfield wasn't terrified. He even more intently than usual moved, toned, harmonized, and channeled the sound, emotion, meaning, and music through his body and head . . . Including opening and closing his "windows of the soul" eyes.

I do have to make a slight correction on the Falsetto you said Bobby Hatfield sang, don't take offense but Bobby never sang in falsetto, with a 4 octave voice range,he was also one of those rare tenors known as a countertenor, meaning he could reach the high soprano notes naturally without effort, falsetto is a kind of fake high note done best by The BeeGee's who didn't have the natural ability to reach high notes, falsetto was a vocal tool to give the impression of reaching a high note when they weren't,however it worked for The BeeGee's,but Bobby did it naturally unusual for a male tenor.

Bobby Hatfield is a classic 'counter tenor'..Believe it or not, when the castratii were around, after suffering the "unkindest cut of all" They sang these parts in opera and other performances, they were highly regarded and in great demand!..Then, the Catholic church stopped doing it because some pope did'nt like it, that was the end of the castratii!..Enter the counter tenor because they had much the same range..Hatfield was one of these!
