Nutty Professor Stairs "I'm So Excited" How Come Girl's (I'm) in Splits

- Seeing myself in this & this sequence inspire me to be healthier & exercise. I saw it asked in comments & had been asked in real life at the time how come I am in splits. I did splits & basic ballet & gymnastics tumbling, rolling around in the grass during down time. The AD saw & asked me to do it in front of the camera. I like the reply in comments that said I probably ran the stairs, & it's good to stretch after exercise. I thought maybe my on-screen character had sore muscles.
The AD told me how to sit & which direction to turn in. Then he said to look for his gesture to go into splits then his gesture to look at Eddie Murphy. To see it now, I laugh. I hadn't understood how it was going to look. I think it turned out just right.
Everyone was very kind & told us on the longer breaks how they got their start. They showed & taught me how did their jobs, including sound & the FX for Klump's car. Incidentally, the makeup & transformation Eddie Murphy had undergone were so incredible I could not tell it was he or that he was wearing makeup even from nearby.
The crew told me which evening they'd soon be filming down the street near where I lived. I stopped by that night to wave hi to everyone. Thanks to everyone, too many to name here--they were so kind & friendly, & this was so fun.
This, what I learned here & other terrific experiences, inspired me to produce & direct years ago a 35-mm, U.S.-U.K. short, Match (www.imdb.com/title/tt0380540/..., which stars the family dog before he passed away. I hope that soon it shares joy & art with everyone.
A RUclipsr I happened to meet kindly told me better instructions how to upload following my initial test uploads so I have reuploaded here &, sadly, lost your earlier like/comments/views. Thanks so much. This was such a joy, & I enjoy seeing your feedback & how so many of you still see & like this (Rocky homage & tribute).
I do not own this or speak on behalf of Universal. Приколы
I always liked how the class was happy with Sherman finally getting the routine right
I always have too. 🙂💃🕺👏🙌
The girls cheering him on makes me so happy ❤🎉
Me too. 😀🎉🎊🩷Thanks.
I like when Sherman made it to the top of the stairs Yeah
😆 I do too. Yeah . . . Yeah!
Having his Rocky moment
This scene made me happy
Thanks. It still makes me happy too each time I see it. 😁
1:20 How Po masters the stairs.
It's probably one of my favorite scenes in The Nutty Professor. Just goes to show that you can do it if you're willing to put in the work. "YES I CAN!" Sherman is in many ways an inspiration.
Thank you. You articulated this so well. It is one of my favorite scenes too and still inspires me. I have stretched and gotten some more flexibility since seeing this again.👑
Except that he was NOT losing weight, so he failed.
One hand on ya! ONE HAND ON YA!
That’s my favorite part!
I like that a lot too. It always makes me laugh and smile as does your comment. 😄 Thanks.
One of the many quotable lines from this movie!
@@harvesterofstorms4932 It occasionally randomly pops into my head and makes me laugh. 😄
I love this movie so much great memories of my family watching this when I was a child. Eddie is my hero as well as Sherman
Thank you so much. I have happy, fond memories of everyone on set, seeing it and others speaking to me as they saw it, including your comment. 😊
How the ladies are jumping on their trampolines and Sherman is just standing there makes me laugh
Me too. Thanks for calling attention to these details that articulate how come the sequence still is inspiring, funny and heartwarming to me. 😊
Well maybe weights and trampolines just weren’t his thing

The pointer sisters - I'm so excited 1982
Thanks for the helpful info. Didn't know it was released that early--an energetic, catchy song that never gets old to me.
The 90s were such a great time to be alive.
@@hedga001 Thanks. Agree and am thankful for that and these shared experiences.
Eddie Murphy's collaboration with the Pointer Sister is pretty extensive and long-term.
Great combo in this.
❤
😄💗Thanks.
By 2021 standards he isn't even that obese.
Thanks for the insightful and astute observation. 🙂 I really appreciate the depth, humor, joy and humanity that you and everyone have added.
He can beat Floyd Mayweather that's for damn sure
😄
This is such an inspirational scene. Only for that douche Dave Chappelle to spoil it.
Thanks. It inspires me too. At the club, the kind FX guys had me sit in the car, then showed me how they caused it to collapse under me. I have some memory, from seeing it, that Chappelle's character heckles Sherman.
0:01 it’s funny to see you dancing
I really like the dancing too! Thanks! I am at that time capture in the 1st screen shot thumbnail, in splits, while the still transitions to the aerobics class dancing, which I am not in. I am at the top of the stairs near the end. 😄

Thanks for inspiring me with your memories and comments. Hope you continue to share these, goals and steps up and down. Here is a 5-months old beagle, Rocky, as he runs and eats steps: ruclips.net/user/shortshTy-QuUrng0?feature=share --He reminds me of how Snoopy daydreams he is a strong, courageous and famous hero--Rocky Beagle Eye of the Tiger. RIP Richard Simmons man
RIP🕯️
I wonder how much Eddie was REALLY sweating under that fat suit while working out.
In the outdoor scenes, he convincingly appeared like this during long work days and nights. I couldn't believe it was not real or recognize him at all
ハリネズミになっている体です
I like that scene too. I couldn't even recognize the actor on set, after makeup and his acting transformation.

when the camera pans around, there's a gym there, just wondering what that gym is?
Are you referring to John Wooden Center recreation center? I think it appears as the camera shows downhill from the stairs' top. It has the gymnastics gym I had been to to stretch in, under inspiring plaques of gymnastics alumni I had met and Olympians. See it on this map near athletic fields and Janss Steps 🙂: mapio.net/pic/p-10725675/
