I couldn't head out of the city because I wanted to be with my husband when he wasn't working so I explored...I explored everything and took my time. Glasgow was amazing because I love architecture, museums, churches, gardens, parks, and history. @john jack Nonsense, both the Scots and the English are relative newcomers to Britain. When the Romans were here the population from Lands End To John O Groats spoke Welsh. It's almost a shame, Mike, that you couldn't spend more time in Scotland. A friend and I took the train from London Kings Cross Station all the way to Inverness, where we stayed one night, rented a car, drove around the Highlands (including Loch Ness) and did the Whiskey Trail. Second night in Oban, and the third night in Edinburgh and dropped off the car before catching the train back to London. I'm slowly planning a trip to Scotland to see where I'm from, and this is now officially on my to-do list. I'm not a city person. I wouldn't mind spending a day or two in Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres but I'd much prefer to spend most of the trip seeing sights like these and little towns. Thank you for this!
Scotland is at the top of my list - thanks for giving me more ideas of places to see! Also, I'll take the mountains and rivers any day over a big city!
If you have a little longer in Glasgow, you should spend some time walking through Kelvingrove Park, just outside the city centre in the West End. It's beautiful. Also, the Gaelic meaning of Glasgow is "Dear Green Place". Welcome to my beautiful city
bob bob.............wait, what, why, how...why didn’t I know this?...Wouldn’t that mean things like Kelvingrove art gallery would have to change as well?? 😲😨
I went to the scottish highlands a lot growing up and I honestly really appreciate it. It's possibly the most magical place in the united kingdom and I wish more people knew about it because it is so great.
Yer Maws Da thank you!! I am German and I've been to Edinburgh once and a few people said EdinBURG, some said EdinBRA and some said EdinBURUH and I was so confused 😂
Why didn't you call it "Dun Edin" instead? Incidentally, were you aware that between 634 AD and 1018 AD Edinburgh was an English and not a Scottish city? The borders of North Humberland stretched - as the name might suggest - from the River Humber in the south to the Firth of Forth in the north!

Poolewe Hotel Restaurant in Poolewe. (also a great Hotel to wind down and get away from the city bussle) Colquhoun's Restaurant in the Lodge At Loch Lomond. Next time I'll try some of your stops, I'm also enticed by that Caledonia Sleeper you focus on in the other video. Thanks for the great work!
"burgh" seems to be tricky to pronounce for anyone visiting Scotland. Heard many a flight attendant announce the local time when landing at "Edinbowrow".
Ahhh the toilet... I remember when they first introduced those toilets, there was no announcement that door was unlocked. I got in straight down to business which required me to take the seated position. Next thing I knew I was being revealed like a booby prize on a game show. Had to do the penguin shuffle over to the buttons to close the door....

The sink is indeed efficient and good use of space, good that you are reminded door is unlocked haha! Seriously though, those views along the way! Even if the train is flying through there's plenty to see. The highest train station and you are just out there with your sweater lol!
I fall in love with Scotland...
Love from Bulgaria ! What a beautiful country and people :)
Perth is a small city, if you fancy a bit more north then moray is small enough
Have you finally gone there
@@biancalancia1023 Not yet. COVID put an initial peg in things and now airfare prices are extortion. Hoping sometime in the next 5 - 10 years.
I loved my time in Scotland. Absolutely beautiful country. I hope to someday return.
Beautiful. My favorite part of the UK. I wish I was there now.
I loved Fort William. GO BACK! There's so much more to see there. Thanks for bringing memories back!
Scotland is at the top of my list - thanks for giving me more ideas of places to see! Also, I'll take the mountains and rivers any day over a big city!
Always great to see someone else’s perspective on the country! Haste Ye Back! 🏴
If you have a little longer in Glasgow, you should spend some time walking through Kelvingrove Park, just outside the city centre in the West End. It's beautiful.
Also, the Gaelic meaning of Glasgow is "Dear Green Place". Welcome to my beautiful city
Mick Barrett hi, kelvingrove park has been renamed Robert Mugabe park, changes in august.
bob bob.............wait, what, why, how...why didn’t I know this?...Wouldn’t that mean things like Kelvingrove art gallery would have to change as well?? 😲😨
@@mrbachittarsingh9243 no it hasn't
I went to the scottish highlands a lot growing up and I honestly really appreciate it. It's possibly the most magical place in the united kingdom and I wish more people knew about it because it is so great.
Listen, see in Scotland, anything pronounced burgh, is pronounced BURUH.
Really? What makes you think that?
i say bruh
@@natascha8028 I pronounce it edinbruh like everyone I know in Scotland but that's probably cause in from glasgow but even people with posh accents say edinbruh
Lived in Dunoon for a year and it was amazing .... the people make Scotland amazing! Very warm and inviting ...
Scotland looks so beautiful. It's a dream of mine to visit someday. Love your videos!
Please come sometime - we Scots are very friendly, the scenery is stunning, and I am sure you might gather many fine memories.
@@saxbruce that's definitely the impression that I get from travel videos I've seen! It's my goal to make it happen. 😄
Well hope you do you will get a glesga welcome lol glasgow
I would love to visit the USA
It’s lovely to see my country through someone else’s eyes!
Definitely prefer to get out of the cities.
Thanks for showing some great sights of Scotland. Looking forward to your journey on the Caledonian Sleeper train! Take care and stay safe. ♥️🙏🏽
I live in Inverness and have my entire life. I live at the top of a hill and every time I take my dogs for a walk or even look out my window there's a lovely view of the Moray Firth and depending on the weather you can usually see Ben Wyvis pretty well. If someone can tell me a more beautiful place than Scotland, it'll take some time before I believe you.
Nope, sorry, you actually do live in the most beautiful place. :)
I like that you don’t just surround yourself with just young people
You should visit Glencoe and the Isle of Skye
Portree is a must visit on the Isle of Skye. Especially when it's warm and clear out.
I wouldn't go to Skye... there's a hell of a lot of tourists
I live on Skye and I don't mean to be rude but we don't need people visiting here at the moment given the current global situation. As healthy as you may feel, you could still pick up the virus from public transport and bring it here without knowing. Stay safe❤
@@Hilowrious I'm so sorry and I genuinely forgot really sorry about that, please stay safe and take care 🙏🏻 hopefully this will end soon we just need to pray and hope it goes away fast 🙏🏻❤
I'm moving from England to Highlands, Scotland. The view from my new school is Ben Nevis.
WOW! You're lucky!
As someone who lives in Fort William I can tell you that not everyone climbs, hikes or mountain bikes that lives here. Were just sadly stuck in a 'tourist town'
We’ll go do those things. Report back how great it is?!
@@Timetraveler1111MN I’ve done them and didn’t like it 🤷🏼♀️. Majority of people in this town have and it’s a tourist thing to do here. Locals call fort William a tourist trap because it’s the truth.
If you're ever back in the future and get to Glenfinnan there is a seat on Sileas for you. (The wee boat on the Loch)
I was on that train at the end of June to rannoch and it was good but I found it quite noisy and it felt so small compared to the surrounding mountains , great videos btw, I subbed
edit: at corrour when you got out I noticed that you had the exact same guard as me haha
I have only been to Scotland one time with my folks. We spent 21 days and went from Endinburgh to Inverness to Poolewe to Glasgow and then back to Edinburgh.
Things that I loved:
Castle Rock
The Real Mary King's Close
Battle of Culloden Memorial
Loch Ness boat tour out to Urquhart Castle
Village of Luss
Recommended places to eat:
Petit Paris Restaurant in Edinburgh.
Poolewe Hotel Restaurant in Poolewe. (also a great Hotel to wind down and get away from the city bussle)
Colquhoun's Restaurant in the Lodge At Loch Lomond.
Next time I'll try some of your stops, I'm also enticed by that Caledonia Sleeper you focus on in the other video.
Thanks for the great work!
It's not 'helensBURG' it's 'helensBUR-AH'
"burgh" seems to be tricky to pronounce for anyone visiting Scotland. Heard many a flight attendant announce the local time when landing at "Edinbowrow".
And its not Oh-Bahn but Ohb'n
How do you pronounce Paris?
He equates it with Pittsburgh
Born there.. and it's 'helensBUR-AH'. Go Braeholm! Now in Canada.
As a Scottish person who spent a bit of time in Vancouver, I am fascinated how much you love Scotland. Your love for Scotland is my love for BC!
The pronunciations are hilarious I suppose it’s the effort that counts 😂
I did my study abroad in Scotland. It’s so magical. I miss it so 💙
Ahhh the toilet... I remember when they first introduced those toilets, there was no announcement that door was unlocked. I got in straight down to business which required me to take the seated position. Next thing I knew I was being revealed like a booby prize on a game show. Had to do the penguin shuffle over to the buttons to close the door....
Awesome Mike. Glad you enjoyed yersel when in bonnie Scotland. Welcome back any time and for more great views do the northcoast 500
Thanks, will do!
My dream was to go to Scotland this year. There’s next year... I’ll just watch your video... a lot. Pretend...
I live in Scotland but because of lockdown we're not allowed to go five miles from our houses. It's been like this for months. The highlands now feel like some distant land. It's been so long since i've been there. So i'm also watching videos because i miss it despite living right here.
I hope covid stops and you can get to come. It's a nice wee country.
I am looking at traveling this route for my 51st birthday in August myself and my wife love The West Coast High Lands Of Scotland. Thanks for the video, God Bless.🙏👍
Was wondering how we could see Scotland and Ireland. This is a way to see the country and it sites.
Most the train services are brilliant. Just don't use Scot Rail, it's always got some delay or issue and the scenery to the North is better anyways.
@@OnlyGrafting Unfortunately all of the scenic routes are operated by ScotRail, except for the Caledonian Sleeper, which has even more issues and problems.
I live in Montana, bought a motorhome so I can do what you are doing, travel the back roads of America and Canada... Oh did I mention I am a 64 year old woman??? Yehaw!!!!
It’s not St George ‘s Square, it’s George ‘s Square
honestly when he said that I could feel my chest hair rip outside of my t-shirt and every scottish vein in my body come out to play "IT'S F*****G GEORGE SQUARE YA EEJIT"
sorry guys.
@@DownieLive it's cool man.....just never annoy a Scotsman. We may set the wild haggis on you haha
The most spectacular train journey in the world is indeed from Fort-Williams to Mallaig and that too on a Jacobite Harry Porter train, Steam Engine . This whole journey is absolutely breath taking in summers with beautiful lush green scenery and what an absolute delight it was. Highly highly recommended for all. 😍
Kinda feel like Robert wanted you back to his youth hostel though.....
Nice video. I recall in 1999 I took the West Highland Line RT to Mallaig and back. Stopped in Fort William and hiked Ben Nevis. Blissful September weather, sunny and pleasantly cool.
