Hi my name is Emi. I'm born in raise in small town just outside Quebec City, this is where my lovely accent come from. My #vanlife story starts in September 2018. After a long-term relationship that I was trying for more than a year to rebuild, I decided it was time to end this toxic relationship once for all. This is where I decided to move away from this man that I was still in love with. I put all my belongings inside my SUV (GMC Jimmy) and moved six hours from where I was living. I didn’t know where I would sleep, didn’t know where I would work but I knew I needed to make a drastic move. At that time, I told myself I will only sleep in my car for a month while looking for a place to rent. What I didn’t know is that one month became another month and another month. In the end, I end up sleeping in my car for a full year. Even if people will consider this the lowers time of my life, this experience was the best thing I couldn’t have done with my life. I took that year to focus on myself, decide what I wanted, and most importantly what I didn’t want. That year made me also realize that for so long, I was chasing the wrong dreams. I was chasing what society wanted me to be: to have a big house, a steady job, kids, get married… None of those dreams was making me happy. In September 2019, while I was actively looking for a van, I received a phone call that someone had found my cat (Kelly). After, trying for hours with no success to communicate with my ex-boyfriend (who was taking care of her), I decided to drive the six hours to go pick her up. Without going into too much detail, it turns out he wasn’t able to take care of her anymore. So I brought her in a cat kennel for a couple of days until I found a van we both could live in. I put all the savings that I had accumulated while living in my car and bought my van (a 2011 Ford Econoline that I end up adding a hightop) In the beginning, It wasn’t so glamour. My cat and I were sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the van. We both had to adjust. Now, my cat loves this lifestyle as much as I do; she looks at the window while I’m driving and she loves exploring new places. Since then, my cat Kelly and I are have been living full-time in my self convert van.
Happy Easter 👵🚐💌
I think its healthy for each person to have their own space and adventures and as long as you spend time together who cares? You seem to work well this way and thats what matters.
if you can get to the back of that 12 volt socket in your dash, unplug the wire to the center post and replace it with a wire running from that center post down to a fuse on the fuse block. or place an inline fuse on that wire and run it to any hot spot on your fuse block. use the multimeter on dc volts and touch black probe to a ground spot and probe around the fuse block to find alive spot ad tap it it there. that will fix you up nicely. use a 20 amp fuse on it if you go with the inline fuse option.
Thanks for explaining. I kinda figured it out that you two were in a relationship! Hope you keep enjoying each other for a very long time!
@Emi, in use Distilled White Vinegar & sprinkle some baking soda into thevwash with it. Watvh that the vinegar doesn't lighten any dark fabrics, so add the vinegar & baking soda while the water is filling up!!! Vinegar us good for washing dishes, cleaning, I spray it on my toothbrush & tongue scraper after each use, I use it on my waterpik too. Good for armpits also instead of deodorant or you can use lemon juice.
After you left your bad relationship, it is good you are keeping your independence in this good relationship. Also, Chrome has had several bad relationships too & likes his independence as well. You'll make this work to your uniqueness. Thank you for sharing & have a good Easter weekend 😊👍
Chrome is lucky to have found you
My husband and l live in two caravan on the roads and it works for us so if chrome and emi are happy have two cars good on them .
FYI : When using a top loading washing machine, wait until the water is filled up. And then add one cup of baking soda !
This will remove smoke smells from clothing !
Love and Blessings to You and Yours 🙏
Thanks
KELLY!!!! ❤ 1:46 wow tu es courageuse, moi c'est sûr que j'aurais oublié la caméra et parti la laveuse LOL!!!!! 💜 You are the best suited person for our Chromie!!!!!
We have separate vans and it works very well for us. 😎🍷🚍⚓️🇬🇧👍
very smart separate van. Love always wins.
Awesome living arrangement❤
whaaaat???? I had no idea you two were a couple!! This makes me so happy!!! Ive followed you both for awhile
Happy good Friday and Easter Sunday
Might be able to replace the plug itself, I had to do that once. Thought it was the fuse or the wiring but ended up being the plug itself. Pretty easy to swap out too 😊
1/2 cup of baking soda put in the tub of the washing machine first before your clothes and use your normal detergent in the despencerary , that will help get the smell out of the clothing.❤❤❤
You are a smart and wise woman
Especially when it comes to personal issues like using the " bucket" or whatever.
So since you put a new fuse in and it is still not working, right behind the cigarette lighter is a wire that is pushed into it and maybe that came loose and fell off. On my van this always happens and finally I saw the wire fell off and so I made the connection so it fits snug and does not keep falling off. Anyway great video, Ty ❤️❤️💯✌️🙏❤️🕯️🎈🌻☺️
You are very wise. You have the best of both worlds.
It work good that way. Everyone need their own places and I enjoy both RUclips channel.
ahhh the stinky campfire smoke...the only way I've found to get it out is to air it out, outside. It will take a week of constant airing but will work eventually. Keep up the good work.
Just finding out Crome’s girlfriend has her own channel. New subscriber!!!❤
Happy Belated Birthday! 🍾🥂🎊🎉🎊🎂
For your jacket, add baking soda or white vinegar to your washer along with your laundry soap.
Yes. It is wonderful. I put it in many of my loads of laundry.
I use to use Mule Team washing powder, baking soda and vinegar .When I had a top loader washing machine I would soak the stinky clothes, blankets etc in the same stuff as above and it worked pretty good)
4:00 haha i love the Kelly cam! It's Merri's favourite part. Because i just sold my house in Lévis and bought a new one 3 doors down i have to shorten my trip cuz now i have to sort out and move everything LOL but i hope we can meet up when we come back in the fall and maybe they can have a cat date LOL 💕
It's great to hear your explanation for the separate vans because the rumor floating around was that you just didn't like Chrome's Sponge Bob pajamas.
LOVED THE SHOT FROM INSIDE THE WASHING MACHINE.
Yeah i watch videos late lol! Catching up on my watch later list now. I've been a BUSY BUBBLE too lately 😆❤
Emi, you have a great sense of humor.😅
Two vans makes sense to me. Tight quarters can be tough on a couple. It's always nice to join the other for fun times and then have your own space. Plus cat and dog? Maybe not so great
Cutest couple!!!! 😍
I agree 💯%
And exactly what I thought before watching your video. It just makes perfect sense.
I have always enjoyed sleeping by myself and I like my alone time - my guy is awesome but there are times when we both need our space. Does not mean I do not value and love him. Good for you guys - happiness is important
Been there too Emi. We all begin somewhere.God Bless.
Emi . You explained your independence beautifully …😊 and van life is all about not following societal expectations, and doing what feels right for you
Sounds perfect 🤩 I would love this ❤
Mine stopped working and mentioned it to a friend and she said in the dash, the wires disconnect from the back of the cigarette lighter. I took it apart and sure enough it was disconnected. l hooked it up, and it works !!
Emily it's probably your element it's not hard to replace
One of the most effective ways to eliminate the smoke smell from clothes is to add a laundry scent booster, such as Febreze or OxiClean, to your wash cycle. Add a little more than called for. Then spray Febreeze on the jacket before you out it in the dryer. Then hang up as soon as you finish drying it. That should do it for you.
Emi your smart😊 stay in your van
Smoke Smell removal. Try a Fabreeze laundry product or by storing dry coat in plastic bag with an open container of fresh dry coffee grounds. Cup or less. Works when we redo Smokey furniture/drawers.
Absolutely the best idea is to keep your own stuff. I think you guys are doing things perfectly.
Baking soda and white vinegar are good at removing bad odors.
Add about a cup of each into the water. Let it soak for about 30 minutes--keep lid of washer up.
Thanks for sharing about this. That sounds like a wonderful arrangement. It is healthy to enjoy quality time together and also have your own time and space. 😻
I use baking soap and vinegar, it helps with all odours.
Use about 1/2 cup of baking sofa and 3 cups of vinegar per load.
Add 1 cup vinegar to the wash to get the smell out
Good storm watching weather forecasted for this weekend. ❤️
Emi try spraying your jacket with a half and half mixture of vodka and water. It's what we use in the theatre to keep costumes that can't be washed from getting stinky.
My mom bought the house next to her husband because he would hoard, and she couldn't stand it. They also had therapy rain or shine every Tues. You just have to find what works for you.
It best that way . Love ya both. 😊
Lol like febreze that usually smells real good
Ohh cooking in my home town! Great to see. 🎉☺️ Happy I found your channel!
aww your cat is so sweet
You are a wise lady Emi.
It has been my experience that relationships are tricky ( that's an understatement) but having a certain someone to share special moments or to change a fuse is nice. I honor you and your independence.
Its boundaries. Keep good ones and enjoy life.
From the beginning it's made sense to me to have two vans. If it were only one it would be very crowded. You'd have to go everywhere together all the time or leave one without shelter and transportation in sudden bad weather. You'd have to have the exact same schedule for work, errands, cooking, sleeping or one would be disturbing the other. Nowhere to go if one got sick. Even in a houscouples don't spend 100% time together. They have their own schedules, friends, jobs, sleep patterns, interests, spaces. Many years ago even the poet Kahlil Gibran talked about needing spaces in togetherness. You are proud of acvomplishing what you have. I am proud too. It took courage and strength. You show others how it can be done. I always say if is isn't broken, don't fix it! I forgot. Baling soda will neutralize odors without damaging the material. Or hang it outside where no birds or campfires are around!
Thankyou for you both are a awesome couple happy Easter ❤
Sounds like the perfect relationship!
Baking soda. Put the jacket, dry, in plastic bag with baking soda. That will get rid of the smell.
White distilled vinegar will remove the campfire smell. Add a cup to your wash! Don’t worry the vinegar smell will go away once dry.
Try using vinegar in your wash water and you can also use it as a rinse. It helps to remove laundry odour.
Laundry deodorizer, either white distilled vinegar 2 cups per load (no it won't smell like vinegar after the dryer with softener sheets) OR 1 cup baking soda, look in the laundry isle the big bod will say "washing soda" use it along with the laundry detergent. Both will get the smell out but I prefer the washing soda. Been using it on all my dog beds and blankets for the dogs for years.
that makes total sens.
I love the improvements to your van. It really looks great!
And….. sometimes I just want to reach into the video and give those critter some love!
Independence is priceless! 🕊
Peace and love 💕
Vinager works really well at taking smells out of clothes. Just add some in the wash cycle 😊
For your jacket try white vinegar in the next time through the wash cycle.
Hi Emi and Kellie, Happy Easter!! 🐥🐰🐣
Yes! Keep your own space!
Baking soda gets smells out of laundry, add it in with your detergent. Also salt will keep colors from running
That’s right! You keep your van and Crome can keep his. ❤️✌🏻🐱
I have been living separate but we are together, it works for us. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. 😊 if you parked where your side doors can open with the awning in between, it’s like a couple room stuck together.
Lovely seeing you both together and love seeing your smile ing faces take care now 😊
I bet she keeps the cat. Beautiful fur babies.
Spray coat down with fabric softener spray
Why fix something that’s not broken? You guys are working out beautifully & so long as you are both happy, keep doing what makes YOU guys happy💖
Vinegar will get the smoke smell out. Or try Lysol laundry sanitizer. But usually have to wash twice
Add some Baking Soda to your clothes washer. That should help get rid of the smoke smell. It makes water softer.
Love your videos. Have a great Easter Weekend to you kitty , Chrome and Cruz
Removing smoke from jacket: try adding a little white vinegar to the wash. Big news to me that you and Chrome are together!!!!!
I think regular white vinegar will help with the smoke smell. Add it to the rinse water.
I ❤️ your and Chome’s videos. It’s ok to live separately and have your own space… I hope to see you out and about one day… I too live in your lovely seaside city… 🥰
Beautiful woman and freedom, what nice life
Try adding some baking soda and a cup of vinegar to the wash to remove the fire smoke smell. May need to repeat if the smell doesn't come out the first time.
You are so smart, don’t lose what you have worked for, cause relationships today are not what they use to be, your independence is so important.😊
You two have a, “VAN-tastic,” relationship.
Stop it. 😁
I see what you did there 😂
Let's hope thing's stay good between ya 2! And thing's don't break down... 😮
Cute statement.
haha awesome pun 💜
well you guys lived that separate lifestyle before you met. so no surprise you keep it that way. ive seen many youtubers here that live your lifestyle who moved into one vehicle and were broken up in less then 3 months. so i completely understand.
Good for you and Chrome!
I've also seen a couple that uses one van as a bed room and a second as a living space. But what you're doing seems to work for you.
Yes that's good
Office Depot/Walmart have portable phone chargers. Can plug in and works anywhere and no bigger than your phone.
I too, like having my own space. It's nice to do things at your own pace. I understand how you feel. It's great that you and Chrome get together but still have your own vans.
To remove smoke smell, add a small box of baking soda to the wash.
I have the original owner manual for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee..it comes in very handy
Smart decision
Those plugs have a fuse in them too.
Add vinegar to the rinse or in place of fabric softener. It will remove the smell
