Kit 10 ("Sm Kit") stands for "Simmons Kit", not "Small Kit". It got me at first too. They could have chosen a better acronym, there's space for 10 characters, after all. "Smns Kit" for instance. It's the distinctive Simmons V sound that gave it away, but these are virtual antiques now. They were horrible to play (perspex pads that really made your wrists ache). Just thought I'd clear that up.
Your right it dose stand for simmons I had a simmons kit back in the 80s I loved the kit but yeah after playing on a acoustic kit then on a simmons it did do ur wrists in
Yeah, awesome video. I just bought this exact unit about 3 weeks ago. I'm a beginner, and you showed me a bunch of options that I didn't realize were there. Thank you.
I bought this same kit about 9 years ago and ended up leaving it at a friends house for a while ( about 4/5 years) just collecting dust. Just got it back about a week ago and it works good as new. Cables and all
Dude, that's the one thing I will say about Yamaha. Their stuff is built like a tank, just like Roland. I'm on an Alesis Strike Pro now and it's great, but the reliability feels a bit iffy. I'd play it at home all day, but I dunno if I'd be comfortable gigging with it.
Hi Chad, You gave up electronic drums already? After I became disenchanted with the DTX500, I jumped on a Roland set: The TD15-K. Wow! If you haven't yet checked it out, do a You Tube search. Wow!! This set is incredible! And I'm not a big Roland fan. All mesh heads. Great rebound. Much better than those rubber pads! This is the set I want. But I don't have two grand! I will check out your Angry Again video and get back to you. I'm out of characters! Thanx again pal! - Bob
Does that include assigning a bass drum sound to a regular pad up top? I'm NOT a drummer, I get by to record, stuff on my channel is multi-track recordings done by myself (except backup vocals on "this is what a police state looks like"). For drums, I usually record a quiet track w/cheapo software, then go back and record bass and snare, bass drum (head face-up) on my right, snare on my left, bass drum mallet in my right hand, regular stick in my left. HiHat track is usually recorded separately.
I see that the ride is placed somewhere else.Normaly, the ride should be in the middle, next to the crash. But i see that you have it somewhere else.Is there a hole,or a support there too?Couse I need to add just one more cymbaal.Tell me if you don't understand what am I saying.
Hello again Chad, I watched your Angry Again vid. You are very talented! And the video is very professional. Is that your daughter? She is a real cute kid. She obviously likes your playing! I'm sixty-one. My wife and I have six grown kids and five grandkids. My kids play various instruments. I always wanted to be more than just a drummer. I have played harmonica on one of the songs I recorded of our band. This was 1977! I really couldn't hear the high hat in your vid. Oops, I'm out...
@heratikx the practice pad has a trigger on it. it triggers good too! i have used it on my snare drum, but i took it off, because of the problem i wrote you about. no matter what sound i use, same thing..i tried the other inputs like you said, same problem. i could try it with a yamaha pad, but i think it should work with a drum trigger on a snare drum, right? but when you hit the snare and kick at the same time, the kick sounds like crap. i scanned the manual too! thanks for the help
if you use midi to trigger software in a program like pro tools and plug your headphones into your computer, wont you get the sound of the drum software?
why you would use a eDrum and record the analogic sound instead the MIDI data? You just have to connect your MIDI Out to a USB Midi interface and use your Digital Drum pluggin on your DAW
Dude, they're people who come on here trying to prove themselves, I hate that, people who think they're the best, like a rivalry just because your a drummer too? Bullshit man, every drummer I bump into whether it be just starting out or doing it for years, I have this huge conversation with them. I've been drumming for 7 years and I'm 16? I don't brag about it, I just see where I can get better in areas, these people need to come back to earth, if someone has the same passion as themselves can'
Hi Chad, I've been looking for some time for a video where the user explains some of the nuances of the DTX500 module. Thanks for the info. I checked out this module at Guitar Center recently. I agree that the user is limited to a finite number of sounds since the pads are all single zone. I'm curious as to what rimshot sounds a dual or even triple zone snare sounds like. And though I checked all kits, I could not find a strong high hat sound. This was really a big issue. Thanks pal! - Bob
I bought a used DTXplorer and it came with a Percussion Plus bass pedal which I don't like at all. The pad that it hits appears to be the one that was supposed to come with the kit, but I would like a better Yamaha/other brand chain-driven pedal. Which did you say you used here or what do other folks recommend?
Would you recommend this kit to someone new to drums? I've been playing guitar and bass for about 4-5 years, I want to move to drums. Any suggestions for kits?
I bought my DTX500 new and i use it to trigger the kick drum on my acoustic kit. I also have a practice pad on my kit with a D-drum red shot trigger on it, for a wood-block sound. It works well, and triggers nicely. But when I hit the pad and the kick drum at the same time, the kick sounds very distorted and wrong, even though it sounds great on its own. Plus, I find that when I am editing settings, hitting the kick/pad does not change the display, like on this video. Please help me!
Hey thanks for the reply. I'm not looking to record or anything like that. Just looking for a nice clean sound to practice to. I just cant seem to get a clean sound whether I'm using earphones or using amps. Some toms sound way too loud compared to the rest of the kit. Any tips would be appreciated!
Does anyone know if I could connect this module with an alesis module through midi? I have a nitro module and sadly this ancient one is better. I mean putting one of them as a slave module
the single zone pads are really limiting....that brain actually does a ton more than what you've showed. not sure why that set with those limited pads was pairedd with this brain?
I've gotten into electronics and robotics lately, so I think I can actually answer this. Drum hardware is expensive to produce. Software is not. They probably built a standard code library for all their kits and then just expose what makes sense for the module, so their only limit would be memory and processing power.
Hi, i have a choice of getting a used DTX500 or nearly new Alesis Turbo set, the basic one. I’m a beginner. Which one would you suggest to get and why? Thanks.
Im not sure of your skill level, but personally I'd take any modern Alesis kit over the DTX500. The DTX is built like a tank, but it's so barebones that you'll grow tired of the limitations in just days of use. I know I did.
@@BeneathVultures I’m just a beginner in drums. I play guitar and a bit of piano. It’s difficult to find any comparison of these kits. Yamaha is very old. I’ll go with Alesis. Thank you for your advice.
***** Thanks for letting me know; I will find me a chain-driven then. As I'm just starting out, I don't want to get onto a real kit someday and be thrown off by the feel of a chain-driven pedal so I'd prefer that. I want to emulate the acoustic kit experience as much as possible.
How is your sound equipments set up? I've been trying to use headphones with my set and it doesn't sound very good. I also tried using regular amps but they don't mix well either. Any help for this newbie would be appreciated
@@BeneathVultures You only require an interface with midi in. Then just plug it in, ensure the interface is enabled and selected for midi in the DAW and away you go - provided your drum program is mapped correctly.
I just need to know how to turn it on ;-;.... Cause I had these in my garage for about...5 years? So I dont know what to plug the red and yellow cords into..I'm stupid but I'll figure it out..

Roland drum is a better brand than Yamaha . I have a Yamaha mixer . It is about 8 years old . and it has the same sounds . from your drum set . That's not good .
I hate this drum kit. Purely because of the hi hat. It's not a fucking symbol and it sucks it has massively altered the way I play and I cant play right
Never used an electric kit before, but I cant wait to get this one, I've used it before and I really enjoyed it
This is EXACTLY what I needed. Found this kit in my church's attic. Thanks!

It's the best electronic kit on the market at it's price...
Thanks for the video. I had the DTXPlorer and wanted to upgrade.

From what I know, the cheapest TD drum from roland is the 11k, everything from td9 and down has been discontinued, is that true?
I also read that it indicates on, behind, on top of the beat...is that when practicing with metronome?

what is the cabel called that you have to buy, when you wanna connect you ipod? And can you mute the cymbals by putting you hand on them?

I want to buy one edrum, but I'm not sure if buy a Yamaha dtx540k or roland td11k. What of those options would you recommend?
Roland all the way, for me at least. Yamaha kits feel ok I guess, but there's nothing to get excited about, really. Roland sets the bar for edrums.
Is this kit have rimshot or mute cymbals
No, the features are so limited, but it's still a really well built kit that's great for practice.
When I use them they don't do wat there supposed to do
