sadly no, only 1st place from each weight class at each trials makes it - a very few people are given "invitations" which skips that but its usually done to round out the bracket
@kommisar. Jay got 2nd place finishes at both USA trials, which puts him in a great spot to get an invitation, but they might not invite anyone considering braket size. that is one of the deepest divisions and J-Rod isn't the only double 2nd place in the -88kg division (Gabriel Almeida got 2nd at both South American Trials) and Asia hasn't had their 2nd trials yet so Roborto Dib-Frias could also get double silver making it even harder. Once all trials finalize, Mo will give out a few invitations if needed, but sadly, we might not see J-Rod in August :(
jay has exciting matches but the reality is he doesn't focus enough on actual jujitsu. He has yet to really understand jujitsu basics something William does. There are many good guys that jay can beat but he has yet to beat anyone amazing and who's in their current prime. When he faces them his skill level gets exposed immediately.
You’re smoking crack if you think either of these guys are garbage. Just to be on the mat here is an incredible feat to accomplish. These guys are world class grapplers.
Jay rod matches are always exciting. He’s genuinely so great for growing jiu jitsu
how ??? lol exiting i agree but what does he do that changes jiu jitsu
@@redshot1015casual fans can actually watch and enjoy his matches. The more of that, the better
@@LeelosAdventure Name a current competitive grappler who casuals can't watch and enjoy.
only a minute into the match and i have to pause & comment how good these guys are.
Tackett completely ran through him.
toe hold is my favorite unconventional heel hook as well
Great match. Can't believe Jay Rod got got.
Tackett went full catch wrestling with that toe hold finish
Jay deserves an invitation
Can you show a compilation of all his matches?
Is reverse closed guard the new meta ?
3:34 why didn’t he go nor sou? What was the better move?
theres levels to this shit
And sadly you’re not on that level.
tackett was the superior grappler, Jay was constantly on the defensive. Tackett is one of the best of the world.
Yeeeaaahh
Does Jay Rod still go to ADCC

@@TheManInBushbig chance he gets it tho
@@TheManInBush So how do they decide whom to invite, and could they still invite people who don't get first like Jay?

@@TheManInBushhe got invited
Is there a name for the technique Tackett hit at 3:43?
X GUARD sweep, and a back take
looked to me like a false reap -> matrix -> x guard.. sick asf
way to go from whispering to blowing out the microphone on the call for the finish👌
Unconventional heel hook eh? Lol. smh

Andrew Tackett just beat Nicky Ryan, whose JJ is phenomenal, using the same north/south control style. It's really hard to deal with.
BJJ will never become mainstream w submissions called “toe holds”
Not appealing one bit to spectator only type viewers
Young man went out like hot garbage Unfortunately

Spoken by someone who never accomplished anything in their life, and, worse still, never even tried.
Boom roasted
hate wrist locks and toeholds they can just rip NO SKILL AT ALL just rip to hurt someone no set ups nothing
