    I rate from using all 3 pinpointers..
    1 Tek point
    2 Xp MI4
    3 Garrett.
    Garrett has Quality issues. All my Garrett pinpointers had problems. My Tek point and Xp MI4 are great 👍

    Joey, I have two Garrett Carrots with Z-lynk. I use them with the Z-lynk headphones, a must at my age and in the noisy areas in which I detect. My detector is linked wirelessly to the headphones as well. They do the job for me. Keep Digging, Joey.

  • @timbrown8581
    @timbrown8581 2 года назад +2

    Joey, I don't have a problem with your test. I don't think the rice makes any difference as it is only a substrate to hold the pin pointer a certain distance from the quarter. What I disagree with is using your pin pointer to aid in digging smaller plugs. I work a lot of manicured parks and if you pin point properly with your detector your plug should already be small. The pin pointer should be used in close proximity to the target to speed up the final retrieval. What's your thoughts!

    • @VegasDtech
      @VegasDtech  2 года назад +1

      I see where you are coming from Tim... you are not wrong but for me sometimes my pinpointing isnt always perfect... the Tek point when I fire it up and touch it on the point where I think I should be... It usually beeps telling me the target is right there and improves the size and accuracy of my plug.. Just my technique..

    I've used the Garret and the XP pinpointers. The XP black rubber grip came off after 3 years, and was always a pain to remember all the settings. The Garret carrot always seems to work fine for me. I wish the black push bottom was more of a permanent mount instead of coming off when caked with mud.

    I was offered a no name pinpointer for an honest review. It turned out to be very good and air tests on coins at about 3 inches and four inches if I do that trick where you put a metal strip on the back of it, slide it up until it starts beeping, then slide it back just until the beeping stops and keep it there. I haven`t yet tested it in the field due to the weather.

    • @VegasDtech
      @VegasDtech  8 месяцев назад

      You mean the sensitivity with these pinpointers? it really all depends on the soil.. and how small the foil.. What pointer are you using with the Manticore? Thats a sweet looking machine!

    • @ianl1741
      @ianl1741 8 месяцев назад

      @@VegasDtech using the Carrot. Manticore is very sensitive to small stuff relatively. Especially using low conductors (fine jewelry) mode. Some small pieces of foil basically need to be right on the tip of the pinpointer to be detected, Manticore will get those at 2-3 inches at least. Pellet rifle bbs, regular staples can annoy you if you're letting that iron through. I mean both of those are small! And Carrot struggles to find the staples too. The other day after digging foil and small bits of can slaw I found an old pull tabs...and was like boy this thing is huge because I had to keep digging down since the pinpointer located it at like 3 inches vs 1/4" or worse lol. Anyway, if fisher can detect foil better in mild soil or even in air I'd be very interested. A flattened/balled herseys kiss wrapper might be very good test. Because I find this kind of stuff with the detector but extremely hard to pinpoint rn

    Joey. Everything you did and said in this informative video is absolutely correct. The White's TRX isTHE deepest followed by the F pulse/ Tek-Point by Fisher/Teknetics. You need to adjust them from high to low when pinpointing. They go ( especially White's) really deep...

    That green tek pointer you have I had one of those a few years ago & I didn't really think it worked very well when I used it in my soil it sometimes took a few seconds to beep on the items & it only seems to go like 3 inches. Its well made better made than the trx that I was useing, but my Whites TRX went like 4 inches on my coins. When whites died out of business I bought another TRX for a back up one of the best pointer I ever had. I ordered a fisher f75 plus detector last tuesday so it should be coming soon on wednesday so it has a fisher pin pointer with it. I know it will be the same as the green Tek pointer so I will be testing it out & if it only goes 3 inches I will sell it. If it goes deeper then I might keep it. I didn't go for the Legend I think it has second build in battery in it. So I went for a fisher f75. Love watching your detecting channel keep up the good work.

    I only want a pinpointer that signals when close. I am pretty good at pinpointing with the detector itself, so I don't need a deep pinpointer that can pick up other stuff around the target. I have a TRX and I agree, that is the deepest pinpointer I have ever had, and I have had all of them!

    Very interesting. I am curious if the rice had anything to do with the results. Perhaps it has some sort of insulating properties that jam up the VLF pointers? I use the MI-4 and in my soil, I get pretty good depth. The Pulse Dive is still my go-to though. I may have to sacrifice a few pairs of the wife's socks to test this out with different mediums. The XP MI-6 and MI-4 are the most ridiculous, user-UNfriendly pinpointers of all modern probes. I threw my MI-6 into the box with spare detector shafts a few years ago and completely forgot about it. The Tek-Point rules! I've been using it as a mini-detector for special projects and, during the first project, I was pleasantly shocked by its performance (it found over 200 silver hammered coins at one hot spot where a normal md would struggle finding tiny specie under given conditions). I also have the F-Pulse (my girlfriend uses it time to time) - a "twin brother" of the Tek-Point and, therefore, also a BEAST, but I always prefer the Tek-Point for some reason (maybe its color :)))

    I've used a TRX, F-pulse and a Garrett carot. the Garrett carot was always the most consistant and falsed the least. the F-pulse (I called it the f-false) was a chattering mess. I'll buy that Garrett off of you if you don't want it! I never understood the whole depth thing with a pointer. After some experience it's not hard to estimate the depth of the a target and dig a plug accordingly to get your pointer you use close enough. a lot of it is getting used to whatever you use.

Your Tek pointer is a (Active) detector because actually sends out a small pulse that picks out the metal. 2 different types. Set up a small test garden putting a coin at 1”, 2”, 2.5” 3”, 3.5” then 4”. Let sit for 2 weeks a Casio Al adding little water just like rain. Then do the test again
