- APR 29, 2024: Feral mama Berkeley gave birth for the last time, to four beautiful kittens! Mom and babies are doing great so far - yay! Scroll down for weight chart.
APR 21 2024: Feral mama-to-be Berkeley has eluded us for more than a year! We were FINALLY able to trap her using our remote-triggering robo-trap. She's pregnant, and will give birth for the last time in our care. Because she is feral, we will take a very specific approach to her pregnancy, labor, and raising her final litter of kittens in order to minimize her stress and maximize her + kittens well-being. She is WAY too beautiful to return to feral life. She could be tame pretty quickly, I think.

I love how Berkeley is such a beautiful "Frankenkitty" - the paws like a tuxedo, the upper area of a ginger, the face of a calico/tortie mix, & almost a siamese colored body. She's adorable, & I hope she decides that humans aren't so bad & chooses inside life. Free Churros when you're inside Berkeley!
She looks like a Snowshoe cross. Just so pretty.

Tuxie looks like her eyes will be open tomorrow. This bunch seemed to start out a step ahead of other kittens from birth.
Amazing progress for mama Berk! Still so ferocious, but she's learning that Shelly brings good things when she comes to visit. Good to hear that her kittens are growing up so healthy, too.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who uses back scratchers for long distance treating, but I have the wooden ones from Dollar Tree. We have one feral who surprised us with 4 kittens about 3 weeks ago. She will not get up and eat or drink when anyone is moving within her sight. Trying to figure out what Shelly might do, I started using the fingers and putting dry kitten food underneath her jaw. She now lets me put a mush of stuff near her so all she has to do is lift her head to eat. Her feral card probably won't be shredded but she may become a working cat or go up to a nearby colony. I'm the only one who can scratch her head when she is full, but she doesn't mind anyone handling the kittens. Thank you, Tiny Kittens HQ for ideas to use here in the Deep South of Georgia.

What a difference from the 1st try! You've definetly have the feral kitty touch! Hopefully she can come to terms with people and find a loving home. She is so beautiful. And if not, she can be returned to where she came and still be looked after.
Don't fight and bite the plastic hand that feeds and scritches you Berkeley! No mama outsmarts Shelly for long, fastest kitten snatcher in Canada! Eventually she will get used to it as they always come back unharmed. In a few weeks she will be delighted to have some "me" time away from them. Fat healthy looking babies!
I don't know if Berkeley will ever be a cuddly lap cat, but I'm glad she seems a bit less anxious about the hoomin handling her kittens. And the tuxie girl-- already an intrepid explorer even without working eyes!
Webster is completely adorable. I have a chunky ginger tuxie myself and he is the sweetest boy.

She's getting used to the idea at least. Mama kitty is less threatened when the fake hand is closer to the blanket I noticed, and she is slowly warming up to the pets, but will probably need a little more time before she doesn't mind. You are such an amazing person who takes care of mamas and babies, but also slowly helps these feral kitties realize not all humans will hurt them. Literally, you are an angel. ❤️

When my son was about 1yrold, he would start to fall asleep in his car seat, with his head sort of drooping forward. But then he would jerk sorta halfway awake, and work his pacifier extra-hard like, "I will not fall asleep!" He made a funny noise when he did this and it sounded just like Miss Berkley when she growls and eats at the same time, lol. He's about to turn 32 this summer, and he's a vet tech. Of course I sent him a link to this video! LOL

Thank you!! Ever since I saw Beautiful Berk, I said she was a Snowshoe with a few accessory markings. I was a majority of One. I have been Blessed with two purebred Siamese furbabies in my Life, and I Love and Admire the breed. Have become fascinated with Snowshoes, also. I hope and pray that Berk chooses the indoor Best Life! 🦋🌺😅

and to think at one point she was constantly hissing and had to be covered up in order for kittens to be taken out
I adopted 2 kittens born of a feral mother, who being fed by frieds, and abandoned them before 5 weeks. Mike and Ike are thriving and will be spayed and neutered next week at 9 1/2 to 10 weeks old. Mama kitty hasn't been seen since.

Mom was so I Don’t Trust Yo. . .Wait, What Smells So Good. . . Back Off Lady, Mmm, That Tastes Really Good . . . Hey Don’t Think This Means I Won’t Shred Your Plastic Hand To Tiny Bits!!! I love that she didn’t eat that bit of clam on the blanket until the very moment she got her last kitten back! 😂 And the poor kittens were confused as to why their lovely naps were interrupted only to have to climb a mountain on paws that don’t quite fit right yet, to get back to their warm milk dispenser. 😄 Mom and babies are so adorable though I could feel my allergies kicking in just watching. 😜

Does anyone know if Shelly is originally American? The way she says "clam" reminds me of me. I've lived most of my life in the same area where Shelly lives, but I started out in Massachusetts and my family is all from New York. My husband sometimes makes fun of the times when my American roots are showing, like in the way I say words like "clam"... and Shelly says it just the way I do.

Outside in the rest of the room. This small area the camera is showing is basically a cabinet meant to serve as a nest for her and the kittens.
And she can step out of the "window" at any time to eat, hydrate, relieve herself, and just have "me time".

My cat William used to sound like he was actually saying "noooooo" when he was on a pheromone "high"😻 and I wouldn't let him go exploring, he was a house-cat and we lived in a traffic busy area.🤷🏼♀️
