When we say Rajinikanth is known for his style...it's not just for the gimmicks he does but he's just so unique with his walk and talk...also he commands screen presence. I truly don't understand how...he just has to be in the frame and there's this force field around you which attracts towards him. It just happens. I'm not his fan but I found now that everybody loves Thalaivar..and each of us realise that fact at some point of time ❤

I highly recommend that you watch Rajnikanth's film Padayappa that was made 24 years ago and the antagonist is Ramya Krishnan who played his wife in Jailer. Her character was so strong and unique that till today everyone remembers her character in that film called Neelambiri. People spoke about that chàracter just as much if not more than his after the release of that move. In fact at the audio launch of Jailer movie Rajnikanth made reference to that character again. Its one of a kind. Her acting was simply SUPERB In that. I hope you guys would consider this request.

when Maniratnam directed the movie Thalapathi with Rajinikanth as lead, the fans were not really happy with him in not showing the real magnified persona of Rajinikanth. In PS1 launch, Rajini did mention that he had asked Manirathnam to cast him in one of the characters in PS1 but Manirathnam politely refused fearing his fans. Manirathan has his own style and it is not easy to fit Rajinikanth into it. This is were Nelson won. He fitted Rajinikanth into his style and brought a wholesome entertainer at the same time not disappointing his fans.

You guys hit the nail on the head. There will never be another Rajinikanth... not in Indian cinema nor world cinema. The charisma, charm, talent, and screen presence combined with being a genuinely incredible actor is just simply different from any other actor that's graced the screen. Most contemporary stars in India like Vijay, Ajith, SRK, Hritik, Ranbir, Akshay, etc. have named Rajini as an inspiration in their own careers, and its truly incredible to see that he hasn't missed a beat in this film at the age of 72. Not sure how many movies Rajini (as well as his contemporaries like Kamal Hassan and Amitabh) will continue to do before they retire, but I hope we can all relish the time we have with them.

If you want to have a great Rajinikanth auro- watch- Muthu (Kane and Abel adaptation), Mannan, Annamalai, Bhasha, and Padayapa- in that sequence, to see how the Super Star image grew on screen. And while the image grew- many of the dialogues in the movie were making political statements. With just one press conference- he helped an opposition win the State election. For a long time- the people wanted him to come to politics. But he kept turning it down. And when he actually announced his entry- he got seriously hospitalised and pulled out.
But the man has earned a lot of good will and respect.

Muthu, Baasha, Arunachalam, & Padaiyappa! The 1st four Rajini films I watched as a 90s kid! All back to back blockbusters, perfect brilliant wholesome entertainers with great story telling! Perfect films! That 90s was when his stardom exploded to another universe that no other actor could dream of touching! He was playing on another level! In my opinion the stardom, love, and euphoria was such that had he entered politics then, he would have straight away swept the election and become the chief minister of Tamil Nadu IMHO

No korbin. That son twist was necessary for 2 reasons. One, the biggest guilt (he says this in interval point) of Rajini's character is that he taught him to be a very "honest" cop and now he has paid a price for it. So that twist seemed very good.
Second, if not for this twist it would have been a just another mass film where hero and his family live a happy life everafter and no one is affected either physically or emotionally

    • @globalnationalismyoutube
      @globalnationalismyoutube Год назад

I am sorry for this late reply.
I did not like the twist because of various reasons. Because the son was a criminal, it makes all the killings that Rajini sir's character Muthu did meaningless since his son was not a victim. Also, it shows that he failed to teach his son good morals despite his efforts. I can't listen to the song Rathamaarey again because the family values that it is about are not supported by one of the family members. The love shown by his son was fake.
It's a very hurtful part of the film.
I agree it was right for Muthu to punish him and shows his moral character. But I was hoping that this would be a old fashioned mass film where the hero wins and the family lives happily ever after. That's how the film was advertised.

The violence is so stylized and just super in a south film (which I'm definitely okay with; so I also felt that Jawan was, as you mentioned, a bit 'watered down'). Also, this one, from start to finish, didn't miss a beat. I started watching Doctor but the beginning was a little boring. I also saw Petta but that one had some frustrating parts. You can watch one more time and realize that the 4 snipers in the movie who works for Rajnikanth have around 18 get-ups (disguises). We would have missed it initially as we concentrate more in the story and Rajnikanth. The second view gives this hilarious aspect and you can enjoy their makeovers everytime 😄 and it is mentioned when they introduce them for the first time itself..

finally rick and Korbin understands the emotion of south indian movie industry that sometimes we people don't go to a movie for story, screenplay or anything other than actor and entertainment. Rajnikanth sir in incomparable to anyone in the world. korbin point about what he doesn't like about the movie was little bit weird because that is one every people of tamilnadu liked that it says objective morality not subjective but having objective morality is greater at same time, to stand with objective morality you can loose anyone close to you. this movie was so interesting is Rajnikanth sir gives second chance to his to get surrender for the things he done but when he denied the second chance, he came to conclusion that some people will never be good and stand for the side of truth. one of the most funniest movies i have ever seen and style of Rajnikanth sir was mesmerizing.

Hi Guys, I had the chance to watch Jailer with my wife on the 9th, at 9 p.m. in Canada, and it was houseful. We tried to watch it again last Saturday at 7:30, but all the tickets were sold out, and we stood in line for the 9 p.m. show, and that too was sold out. We are hoping to watch it again next week. Anyhow, here are some Rajini movies if you want to watch. They are available on RUclips for free, at least most of them. Panakkaran, Billa, Guru Sisyan, Moondru Mugam, Yejaman, Mr. Bharath, Arunachalam, Manithan, Dharma Durai, Mannan, Thalapathy, Pandiyan, Uzhaippali, Veera, Tharmathin Thalaivan, Aaril Irunthu Arupathu Varai, Mullum Malarum, Puthu Kavithai and etc. These are just some of his 170 movies. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for your reviews.

Short list of Rajinikanth films to watch:
If you want really strong acting performances from him (these films are more grounded and not mass):
    - Johnny (1980)
    - Sri Raghavendrar (1985)
    - Thalapathi (1991)
    - Aarilirundhu Arubadhuvarai (1979)
If you want the classic mass films:
    - Billa (1980)
    - Baasha (1995)
    - Padayappa (1999)
    - Sivaji (2007)
    - Annamalai (1992)
More contemporary films (some mass and some performance/story driven) -- all of these are good watch along films IMO
    - Endhiran (2010) and the sequel 2.0 (2018)
    - Kabali (2016)
    - Kaala (2018)
    - Petta (2019)

***Spoiler alert*** This is with regards to making Rajanikanth's son his big enemy. It works so well because Rajanikanth him self is so big of a character (because of his 45+ years of experience in movies and number of followers he got) and everybody knows he will definitely win at the end. So any enemy will be a weak enemy. So what if his son is an enemy which he cannot just eliminate like others. There will be an emotion attached to it.
This is just my take on the director's decision on making his son a main villain.

I was also genuinely surprised by how bloody this film was (considering how Rajinikanth's target audience are the family folks and the violence is usually mellow in his films). Was a good change to see him have blood splashing on his face while killing the baddies. Rajini really shines in every scene in this one. Anirudh's music & the special appearances were the highlight for me.
But I wasn't a big fan of how incoherent the plot seemed, especially in the 2nd half. Random things seemed to be happening and the jokes honestly did not work for me at all.
