Yeah, I love singing in this more natural range - maybe even more than the wailing high Soundgarden type stuff I've been doing on the channel! This was more the range I started with when I first started taking lessons some 20+ years ago. Best - K

I always thought that northern European humour and Aussie humour were akin.... and after a DNA test some years ago, it turns out I'm just a short northern European. Who woulda thunk it? I blame the Irish for my red beard however. Always one of my favourite bands, Ville being in the top of my favourite singers everywhere, obviously tongue in cheek if you "get it" so to speak. This song is just badass, the vocals were SO much fun to do and just a peach to do in this way, I love this style. Hope you dig it as much as I loved doing it for you. K
How do you access grit in this range? I can grit up at will in this range, but it's by using a sort of hyperconstricted "poop muscles" "old man voice" technique that, although not painful, is probably not the proper way to do it, plus I cannot mix with that technique at all, can only yell with it up to let's say a G4 but no chance of taking it past that point. Also cool to see you covering this, bought this record when I was like 11 years old :D
This is garden variety false fold distortion - it's different to what I usually sing with, but it's immense in this lower range and similar to what Ville used on the original. The key is actually to exhale - like a sigh or "hhhhH" sound as you're singing, and it's super comfortable and easy. Yeah, came out when I was in late highschool - such a huge fan, I've done three Sentenced covers on the channel thusfar, and will probably end up doing 90% of the Ville era songs in future ha.
