To get unlimited shurikens. 1. Go to the options menu. 2. Go to shinobi for music. 3. Go to shuriken hit for voice. 5. Go to shuriken for sound effects. 6. Go to shurikens and highlight 00. 7. Wait a couple of seconds, and the 00 changes to ♾. Giving you unlimited shurikens.
You don't really need them though, just using that power up alone will kill everything fast. It would make more sense to use that cheat in Shinobi II or the first one, Shadow Dancer. Though I had no issue with the third game being easy. A lot of classic games were back then and were enjoyable due to the low stress to get through them. It's still better than the ultra hard Shinobi II and Shadow Dancer. I hated those both. And wasn't fond of the PS2 reboot either. It was even worse, the damn sword killed you so you had to speed run the entire game to avoid being killed by it and every stage was a one hit death fall because you spent 97% of the time platforming over bottomless pits of death. You rarely stayed on the ground.
All three Shinobi games are best played with melee only, zero shuriken! Seriously much more fun!

Great game to play for us. I played Shinobi 1, 2, but I never got my chance to play this one. Thanks Kawaii.
So, I've been analysing this game for a while and thinking about how it could be done on SNES, and I reckon that the SNES could do basically everything you see in this game but with a proper overlapping HUD, more colours in most places, an additional background layer or two in many stages, proper transparency effects in the areas where the the Genesis version uses dithering, and most of the sprite stuff pretty much the same with maybe an extra colour or two here and there. Overall, other the than smaller horizontal view that you just can't overcome on SNES, I think a SNES version of this game could be pretty great. :)
Now I just need someone to try porting it or even doing some tests to demonstrate this!
