  • Hey Guys! Here’s the video that "Yogi" the bear tried to spoil. My wife and I used a Rope Saw to cut down a branch that must have been at least 40 feet tall. I provide a few tips within for those who what instruction on how-to use a rope saw for the first time. This was my first time using a rope saw and things worked out. Sure a bear almost ran up to us in the process and the saw got stuck at least a dozen times, but the bottom line is the dead branch is finally gone!
Using a Rope Saw instead of calling for Tree Trimming Services is something you can do at home as a do-it-yourself project.

FYI - I bought a kids rocket ( rubber band launcher ) and tied fishing line to it. It was easy to shoot over the branch and then pull the rope and saw blade over the branch.

Terrific. I hate getting on top of my 24 ladder and reaching across to cut a long branch.
I just ordered one. I'll do a video in coming weeks and let you know.

Nice, hope your job goes well! My branch was bothering me for a long while. Part of it snapped in a storm, but it never came down, despite major wind storms.

@@TeksTherapy I got some of those too, and also have some branches growing over the 2nd story roof, and squirrels can jump on to the roof, and do damages around soffit, so trying to keep those branches cut. I got the kit now, and gotta figure out how to throw it way up there.

Thanks, it was a bit of a pain but the rope saw did its job.

Nice! FWIW--see if you can manage a slight "UNDERCUT" below where you're cutting. It will avoid the tearing of the bark when the branch comes down. TIP: I got really tired of tossing the line with a weighted sack. Took my 23 ft long painters extension pole, duct-taped my 12 foot bamboo fishing rod on the end. Then, taped a wire "hook" that held a 1 inch hexagon nut with string and gingerly tossed it up and over. WOILA!

Looks like a real pain to throw it over . How many times did it take you to get it over to that specific branch?

If you are with 2 people, stand on both sides of the branch and saw together, the saw will never jam.
