This game starts off very excitingly, and ends just as amazingly. The mid and late game though... Get a little bit mundane. You might want to skip ahead a little. Enjoy!
Fantastic prisoner's dilemma. All three would do best if they could agree to attack the turtle equally, but given that each is incentivized to cheat, nobody does and they all lose. The prize structure is perfect too, little value to anything but first place but outsize incentive to not be 4th. I bet the turtle saw this way in advance, masterful.
Funny thing is, this is pretty realistic as a real-life war situation where all 3 sides have reasons not to fight. Notice how they're all trying to negotiate non-aggression pacts with each other or form alliances to gang up on one guy...that in itself is interesting to watch imo.
Yeah, it doesnt have to be nonstop BAM BAM BAM action, to be interesting. This is why i like big maps and long macro games, and wish there was a SC for that instead.
its like watching the anime Vinland but on Starcraft, the tragic ending though, although he did find it, he got defeated... which is the same as what would have happened in the anime
You have to admit though, Garitos outsmarted them all. He could have used his neural to destroy the ships that occasionally attacked him, but he didn't, because he actually wanted those fleets to exist and fight each others until only one remained. Meanwhile TheMusZero could have helped Rodzyn in dealing with Garitos but he chose to backstab the former instead. He underestimated the threat the latter would pose in 1 vs 1 scenario and he paid for that.
I don’t think we can blame him for that though, how does he know Rodzyn is actually gonna do what he said instead of attacking him on the spores? For Muszero it is even possible that Rodzyn has already made a deal with Garrito before talking to him by sending messages to Garrito personally
That was exactly his obly chance. With units made out of magic alone he can win against one, maybe even two opponents… but never three. So he HAD to wait.
That was the best 2hr match i have seen of SC2, please make more of these 8 free for all matches with grandmasters/streamers! It's not everyday that players have time to trash each other and make jokes in the middle of the match. Totally worth it!
The Problem with everyone doing nothing was solved with a mod in the FFA at the USA. That mod made, that if you kill enemy Units you get half of the rescources.
That mod was modified to remove scans for Terran, making it unusable, as infestors became beyond OP. It's also problematic, because it doesn't apply to structures (*cough* Spore crawlers *cough*), DOES apply to free units (e.g. Infested Terrans), and does not apply to the forces of a player that GGed out. In other words, that mod needs a massive overhaul before it can be used again.
Without a mod and with a price pool, you can do it, but with real money. It would have the same effect. The goal is to encourage the aggression so someone killing by his own 4 players but getting killed by the turtle while his army is weak will be rewarded more than the turtle who wins the game.
I think putting 1 or 2 mineral patches with infinite money and refineries, extractors and assimilates harvest 1 gas forever so there's always something to fight for.
Yes, but not infinite amount. Just new mineral patches unlocking closer and closer to center of the map, while force field ring slowly closes around the edges...
@Monsterkillinggamer Good point. If there was only one base in the center that respawned minerals, that would be the source of conflict that would determine the end game.
Everyone knew the spore crawler forest was there and they all decided to not engage it. It's like the lion not wanting to pick a fight with a porcupine. In the end, zerg took the victory by litterally being undetectable - a fair victory.
Lowko the bully: Gallons per square mile then you find the meter and then convert it to american dollars to calculate the amount of freedom BUT SO TRUE THOUGH!!!
@LowkoTV hey man..I'm a developer in other tools.. so I started playing around with the map editor. I got the map to shrink like a battle royal. Units outside of the map die... there's a couple of details I need to go over like will you see all map or simply shrink the vision to the playable area? buildings decay when outside bounds? if so will win condition be modifies to all units killed? etc. will you be broadcasting more or these gameplays?
4:32 Lowko clearly looks at the siege tanke firing off at the nexus for a few seconds. 6:45 backseating the terran telling him to siege a tank there :D
Hi Lowko, what would you think about a 2v2v2v2 on this map, where every teammate is on the exact opposite site on the map (like mirrored), dont know if there would be race preferences tho..
You can motivate people to go to the center by having minerals regrow in near center bases over time. It will also make people more willing to have fights since they would be able to remake some army.
Watching this the day after Christmas 2019 (thanks Google for the recommend) and I'm quite enjoying these tactics and brutality in the beginning a lot. Thanks for posting this.
1:17:45 High mineral content field in the mid might be something to make people start fighting for after all normal resources run dry. Like 8-16 mineral patches in the middle with near unlimited amounts. Maybe a big stack on top of eachother inaccessible to close-range mining, but with 8-12 shafts leading in from around it.
6:14 “Swearing- Square gallons per miles an-den calculated and converted to US dollars I believe is the, da regular measurement for everything. That’s how youu-uhh calculate freedom.”
There is a "King of the Hill" mod (I think it is called like this) which force people fight each other or loss HP for in-action. There is different methods to force battle in FFA as well, like controlling center of the map giving you victory after some time.

I enjoyed it 100%, but then again, I did enjoy that one CLG:EU game of League of Legends as well, would love for strategy games to be more... strategy. A third of the way through the video I finally realized this was on Lowko's Twitch Stream. Wasn't till Halfway through I finally realized the game was live and Lowko was an actual observer that could chat the players. :-0
And this is it. GMBR (GranMaster Battle Royale) came to EU as well. Hell, it's about time. Now for my life to be complete I want to see Reynor, Elazer, Serral and Showtime in there.

I had to read the title twice to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. This is going to be amazing.
If after one hour there is no winner, then the viewers should decide, who fought well.
Lets be honest garitos didnt “deserve” the win but every zerg player had the widest of grins by the end of this...

indeed
Can you jump higher than a building? Only if it's a protoss one.
Can't lose the base-race if you have no bases to begin with _taps forehead_
I feel "race" is not appropriate here. Should we call this "Base crawling"?
Wait, could garitos have neural'ed Rodzyn's golden armada at the end? That would have been hilarious.
Ye I was wondering why he didnt
Same thought!
Probably the amount of energy wasted moving them all.
The Problem with everyone doing nothing was solved with a mod in the FFA at the USA. That mod made, that if you kill enemy Units you get half of the rescources.
