I'm not much of a video games person, but I recently played ME1 and ME2 for the first time and they were the first games in nearly five years I've gotten properly engrossed in and played right through to the end. I can't wait for ME3.
@hitaro47 It was in ME2 as well. If you are an Inflitrator or a Soldier when you enter the Collectors ship for the first time you can pick it up. Only Shep can use it though.
@Ultermarto 3 things a) ME2 is out in 5 months so uve got time to play it b) 56 people agree with me c) this is a game that is meant to be played from 1-3
@bigfathairytractor unfortunaly not all the characters will be squad members anymore from what i have heard. But still if they survive you see them back in part 3 probability to help you and do some missions with you, but the confirmed squad members so far are ashley/kaiden, garrus, tali, liara, james vega, and in the collectors edition you will have a other secred squad member(dunno exactly how many squad members u gonna have with mass effect 3) but i guess only time can tell =-D
@joelx1000 to answer your question, ever crew member still alive will be in ME3, some only for one or 2 missions, others (like Garrus and Tali) will be permenant crew members. And yes you will be able to help the other species. For example, you will be able to help resolve the conflict between the Geth and Quarians (or just pick a side) as they are crucial in helping fight the Reapers.
@viperswhip The game starts on Earth. Then it follows the same system where you travel all around the galaxy. You end up going to all of the home worlds for the different races.
i honestly and genuinely can't describe how much fun this game have given me. truly a masterpiece, and i am confident that bioware regardless of that dragon age, will do good with the third mass effect.
0:04-0:26 Is all footage from the Leaving Earth scene. It's interesting how just the change in the music can make this scene from an action vibe, to something so emotional.
@DevoidOfFeelings travelling at even light speed is impossible, unless you have infinite power or zero mass. Maee Effect fields can lower mass to zero and (i think), less. meaning, by Mass Effect's universe, FTL speeds have an explainable reason. you are well-learned in the art of theoretical physics.
@Soccerpirate21 I assume you're talking about the Launch Trailer for Mass Effect 2? That one was released a week before it was released. This is the E3 trailer, not the launch trailer.
@shadowknight1121 good but 2 more points are needed 1. keep morodin with you when fighting da reaper, he tends to die for no apparent reason if he is not with you at the end. 2. eather be a full paragon on renegade, i think that if your not fully the one or the other you die in the final cutscene
@Th3Fr33man yeah could be, all i will say is the protheans were on the casp of designing the ultimate weapon against the reapers, however it is not a weapon of fire power or some virus. it is something else that will blow your mind, i know mine was when i was told.
@schapman235 By the time this game takes place Earth's population will be more like 15 billion. But I'm guessing the main reason for attacking Earth is that after the Battle in ME1 The Alliance fleet was the most powerful fleet left.
@zest4lyfe you should be able to complete side missions after you beat the game. You get the option to keep playing or play the game over again with you're current level and powers.
@GamerJer You also get Captain Anderson as a temporary squadmate during the game's intro. But good ideas for a Collector's edition squadmate would be Zaeed Massani, Miranda and/or Jacob, Grunt, Kal'Reegar, or Legion.
@etocadet dont worry, every decision will count, every person you saved from the sucide mission, saving the rachni, will count. you might even wanna reconsider what background you chose in me1, i chose war hero but then sole surviver will be interesting too and man am i glad i kept legion. i have only learnt how the ending starts and to be quite honest it seems really like there is no hope at all for anyone. but it is part of the puzzle to solve. oh yeah and we get to meet liara farther
@wootlegion Ah damn. But no worries, Bioware already confirmed that she will be in the game. I just hope they show us some gameplay of her. She's my favorite LI in ME2
@DarkenedPsycho Well, i would like MORE vehicles And i meant the Loki Mechs The teamates like Tali and Others is what i meant New upgrades , more powers , higher levels Teammate ugrades for example one power such as overload , every teammate that you chose would have that power And i never knew about the dog...
@Arthirable shep must be a tank then, because according to the codex its 39kgs lol. played through as a sentinel with rifle as my 3rd weap (didn't realize shep could use it)
@Mcheetah vigil in ME1 said it took centuries for the protheans to be completely wiped out and thats when the reapers did it all perfectly, they isolate all relays so no one can use them besides them, then one by one they harvest each planet, maybe they start harvesting straight away
@AnimeDaimon It'd be stupid as fuck to not release it on the xbox 360, PS3, & PC because ME2 is already on those consoles, and ME1 on Xbox/360 & PC, along with PS3 having an interactive comic for the ME1 events available for ME2 choices (admittedly not as flexible as playing the game, but still the key choices are there)
@dencholin I figured Samara will be back if she and Shepard had conection in ME2.She says that he/she may call her anytime,and she'll come. If they didn't,Samara says that because of some things Shepard did she may have to kill him/her next time they meet. Will she still join the team or will she hunt Shepard? And what about Morinth if some1 chose her?
@MultiMitch86 what im hoping is the ending unlike with ME2 will be based off of all decisions made in ME1+ME2+ME3 so i hope that an all manner of endings will happen, good or bad. but when i think about the final mission, im wondering how shepard will be involved when it seems that its just gonna be one massive ship battle, how will one man and two squadmates be doing in the final hour
@zest4lyfe All I can say is that I did every single pickup and loyalty mission for every other crew member before picking up Legion from the dead reaper and that I was able to get to do 2 more or so missions before the crew were abducted.
For those that think that this trailer sucks: go watch the ME2 trailer from E3 2009: it isn't much different from this on In fact in some way i think this one might even be better. Let's hope that's a good sign for the inevitable launch trailer! (Tip: search in youtube for "mass effect 3 piano" first result gives you a small sample of the ME3 OST ;) )
@zest4lyfe if you do the legion mission and loyalty mission straight after the crew has been abducted, you can still save them from being processed. I have all my crew members still alive including legion and Normandy staff xD
@HeWhoPwnsNoobs They were pretty much only a side-quest enemy. You never even hear about any "Illusive Man" or anyone noteworthy. Cerberus in ME1 was only ever a mild-inconvenience to fight against. They only have humans and robots. They did employ experimental rachni and husks at one point but those aren't too hard to fight. Cerberus are just a bunch of humans with a shared superiority complex, I honestly don't view them as much of a threat.
@HeWhoPwnsNoobs I'm continuing a playthrough where I handed the base over to Cerberus. At the end the Illusive man has a sinister grin as he stares at a hologram of the Collector base. But even if Cerberus decides to get in the way, they're just people. Shepard has dealt with Cerberus before.
@americanEYE, thanks for setting my misinformation straight. The Mass Effect universe is vast and most of it is still unknown. I am not sure it will compete with the Republic in terms of popularity but it can come damn close.
@osher8595 watch a dev diary on gametrailers, it's what they keep putting on the podium that the game will still be user friendly to new players, which i could understand if it didn't sell well but it was nominated for every single award
@theleontech1 Short? Did you do all the loyalty missions and/or side missions? ME1 clocks in at about 16-20 hrs for me, while ME2 clocked in at about 26-28 (counting DLC.) That's a pretty sufficient game time.
@Deryl32 well the normandy should still have Garrus's Cannon upgrades, that was reaper tech, as long as the alliance doesn't rip it all out then we should be ok. maybe lose a planet or two.
@ubernathe had to do a 2nd round of the suicide mission since the 1st play-through jack died when i brought her along to the human reaper section. let alone that she wasnt loyal due to the miranda/jack arguement and i didnt get enough paragon/renegade to break the arguement with both being loyal. on the 2nd playthrough i left jack with the rearguard so this time she didnt die. dunno if it would still be brought over to the upcoming ME3 game. guess ill wait and see
The Reapers are like giant, robot tyranids. Both come from outer space, both have destroyed galaxies for millennia, both look a bit like bugs, both were stopped until the main force showed up etc.
gh0strec0n141 Nonsense. One person doesn't make an entire planet special. And what about if Shepard has the Spacer or Colonist background? Shepard's only special in the first place because of the Prothean cipher containing the warning about the Reapers, which can be transferred to any asari through melding. If Shepard were smart, he/she would have melded with the asari councilor immediately after Eden Prime, not just say, "I had a bad dream of evil and its Saren's fault somehow!" Remember this is the future; humanity has moved on from Earth. Prioritizing one planet's safety over the entirety of the galaxy is asinine.
In 30 years humans got a spot on the council. A feat other species have done in centuries. Humanity repelled the Turians, the military superpower of the galaxy. A human was the driving force behind defeating Sovereign, the Collectors and that same human blew up a mass relay to stop the invasion for a little while. Humanity is a threat, Shepherd is a threat. Also remember in Mass Effect 2 the Reapers chose humanity as the first and potentially only race to preserve in Reaper form from that cycle so they saw it to.
Yes. We're against Reapers, not an ordinary sized war faction, and compared to them we are ants. It defied all common sense to solely focus on any one planet because this is not just a war. It's doomsday.
I think co op campaign could work very well in ME3, how P1 is Shepard, P2 is whoever they want, and then you have 1 AI squad member. That would be fun, even if the 2nd character can't make any dialogue options, it would be pretty cool.
Well that is not entirely true. I mean yeah it would work well for stuff like ME3 and MW3. But it would not work at 60fps with all settings turned up and AA/AF maxed out at 1080p for the majority of games in 2012. You don't have to spend 500$ on a card either, the 560 is like 220$ and the 570 is like 300$ and would easily deal with the top games like Batman AC/BF3/Crysis2/Rage/etc at very high settings at 1080p.
@Moonlitdarksword Think of the possibilities if you go into mass effect 3 with the opposite of all those choices Taking on the reapers solo chuck norris style
@Moonlitdarksword What about the Geth data? The one you can give to Tali after you've pushed the Geth back from the Armstrong Nebula? Did you give it to her or did you hold on to it?
@TheOneiros84 Yea of course I mean if it was something that was strong enough to beat the reaper then I dont think the team would be running away from it :P
Sometimes to win a war or save a galaxy you have to make the ultimate sacrifice which is taking the fall so that other generations can live or have a fighting chance shepard did that she or he gave up their lives so the galaxy could continue to exist
@mco119 Continued... In this video it says every world rests in SHEPARD'S hands. What, did the billions of other species in the universe suddenly forget how to take charge? It's a human, why is it a human, what makes a human so special? Many people would say "it's relatable". No it's not, just because it's a human doesn't mean I'm at all like it. Games like The Elder Scrolls, and many MMO's let you choose who you want to be, and it works very well.
I noticed there was instead Rock music in the place of the usual Mass Effect soundtrack - a decision I am not entirely sure was a good one. But then again the music relays a very different feeling to the more mystical and haunting music of ME3s predecessors - that this is indeed, the final fight for the galaxy.
As an avid fan of both ME1 and ME2 I must say that I am sad to see this franchise end. Loved the gameplay of two but enjoyed the ability tree so much more. In ME2 i misssed abilities like Liara's singulary,lift,throw,warp and stasis. But that aside,I can't wait for the game. March can't come any sooner.
@DevoidOfFeelings True,which is why they could use the EMP to take out there machine half, as well as there kinetic barriers/shields, and nuke the hell out of the organic half. Not saying that it'd work, not saying that is what will happen, it was really just a joke above everything. But.....its just crazy enough to work.
@wolvesXD I'm sure somebody might know that, but it is not me, but my guess is that the Reapers are making humanity a priority to kill off first since they were behind the destruction of Sovereign and sabotaging the human reaper that was being made in the Collector base. Plus from the angle that the Reapers are entering the Milky Way galaxy, Earth just so happens to be the nearest place. But no matter how much of jackasses the council may be, they will send their fleets to help Earth.
I'm not much of a video games person, but I recently played ME1 and ME2 for the first time and they were the first games in nearly five years I've gotten properly engrossed in and played right through to the end. I can't wait for ME3.
one hell of a trailer tho
"We need a plan to combat them!"
"We fight or we die. Thats the plan."
Shepard= king of inspiring speeches
*Decide how it ends*
Right...
Man! The combination of the music and imagery starting at 1:09 sends chills up and down my spine! Incredible.
@StarFanaticCraft they pushed the date back so it wouldn't be rushed. it was originally scheduled for late this year (novemberish)
@hitaro47 It was in ME2 as well. If you are an Inflitrator or a Soldier when you enter the Collectors ship for the first time you can pick it up. Only Shep can use it though.
@Ultermarto 3 things

@lwp22
actually the reapers is still attacking all the galaxy
its just the main battle ground is at earth
and most of the reapers are at earth
@Soccerpirate21 I assume you're talking about the Launch Trailer for Mass Effect 2? That one was released a week before it was released. This is the E3 trailer, not the launch trailer.
@rjm2k8 yes, so you have a character pre made, you know the story line and ME2 is just pretty awesome.
@shadowknight1121 good but 2 more points are needed
1. keep morodin with you when fighting da reaper, he tends to die for no apparent reason if he is not with you at the end.
2. eather be a full paragon on renegade, i think that if your not fully the one or the other you die in the final cutscene
@MultiMitch86 It's Dr. Ishan that Vigil mentioned in Ilos during ME1
@XsvruploaderX Yes, all of your choices (including the ones made for you in the default ME2) are carried into ME3.
@aridchimp this one's not an exclusive,simultaneous release on all consoles i think
@Hackman441 Its been confirmed Tali is a squad member. So is Liara, Gaara, Ashley or Kaiden.
@OnTehMove Yes.Bioware said that around 40% of the enemies you'll encounter in ME3 will be from Cerberus.
@Th3Fr33man yeah could be, all i will say is the protheans were on the casp of designing the ultimate weapon against the reapers, however it is not a weapon of fire power or some virus. it is something else that will blow your mind, i know mine was when i was told.
@14Schofield You lose Earth in the beginning. You are supposed to take it back. So the last stand is not on Earth.
@habswan He said in the demo that it was gonna start on earth but take you across the galaxy. And the demo is even on a alien planet so no worries
@Bobinarea52 if its a mass driver, it would work. firing a high density slug at 7+ times the speed of sound? that would take out almost any armor
@cacharadoninwurm Hey, so Sean Bean is voicing a different character, Freddy Prinze Jr is voicing James Vega.
@GamerJer
You also get Captain Anderson as a temporary squadmate during the game's intro. But good ideas for a Collector's edition squadmate would be Zaeed Massani, Miranda and/or Jacob, Grunt, Kal'Reegar, or Legion.
@Danbot38666 Soundtrack was made by Rage against the machine, I had a link to full version but they deleted it, sadly.
@rohanmystery I think that's Sean Bean and he might be doing the voice for James Vega, the new squad member.
@14Schofield The humans' last stand? Last time I checked, the Reapers were a threat to all sentient life in the Mass Effect universe.
@wootlegion Ah damn. But no worries, Bioware already confirmed that she will be in the game. I just hope they show us some gameplay of her. She's my favorite LI in ME2
@DarkenedPsycho
Well, i would like MORE vehicles
And i meant the Loki Mechs
The teamates like Tali and Others is what i meant
New upgrades , more powers , higher levels
Teammate ugrades for example one power such as overload , every teammate that you chose would have that power
And i never knew about the dog...
@TheAyman1825 Replay, since those characters probably will play a part in Mass Effect 3
@Arthirable shep must be a tank then, because according to the codex its 39kgs lol. played through as a sentinel with rifle as my 3rd weap (didn't realize shep could use it)
@Szuperpocok I have a thought that I can't get out of my mind. We will have to work with the Geth to defeat the Reapers. It's just a thought though.
@xXLikeAbosSXx09 Eh, aside from the first game which is not on PS3, this and ME2 are on all platforms.
@habswan
Earth is at beggining and ending. Dont worry the game will be legendary
@JRDShamrock We also finally get nades as well, that should be interesting.
@ARavingLooony this just made i day man
you can also do the same in reverse, crisis 2 on mute with mass effect trailer in background, works almost as well
@Starkiller911 Reapers are Machine-Organics hybrids, this was proven at the end of ME2, it'd leave the job half done.
@Mcheetah vigil in ME1 said it took centuries for the protheans to be completely wiped out and thats when the reapers did it all perfectly, they isolate all relays so no one can use them besides them, then one by one they harvest each planet, maybe they start harvesting straight away
the music build up at 00:26 is awesomeo as well
@LegacyRO3 You import your character from the past 2, so as long as he lived in those he'll be in this.
@DaveVay9 its by Jay Vincent and its on his site
Just got revenus from the partnership so I am totally going to buy this game.
@AnimeDaimon
It'd be stupid as fuck to not release it on the xbox 360, PS3, & PC because ME2 is already on those consoles, and ME1 on Xbox/360 & PC, along with PS3 having an interactive comic for the ME1 events available for ME2 choices (admittedly not as flexible as playing the game, but still the key choices are there)
The song is from rage against the machine
@silveradoz33 Yeah, she'll almost certainly make a cameo, like almost all the new guys from ME2
@dencholin
I figured Samara will be back if she and Shepard had conection in ME2.She says that he/she may call her anytime,and she'll come.
If they didn't,Samara says that because of some things Shepard did she may have to kill him/her next time they meet.
Will she still join the team or will she hunt Shepard?
And what about Morinth if some1 chose her?
@li94362420 Nope, that armor has been with Mass Effect for awhile. It doesn't really look like the Crysis armor once you see it clearly. :)
good news guys. multiplayer is more or less confirmed ( yet not a 100% yet ) but i still hope they put main focus on single!
Dude this is so awesome! Love the 0:36 part
@dogfc Didn't I just say intergalactic scale. Im pretty sure every single race comes from Earth XD
@Flames56 I'm pre-ordering the N7 collectors edition tomorrow, i can't wait either.
@dencholin That was Liara and Garrus actually.
@chrestien83 Uh this isn't a teaser trailer there was already a teaser trailer. It was released December 10 2010.
@cacharadoninwurm Yup the same guy who was Boromir in Lord Of the Rings, he also voiced Martin Septim in Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion.
For those that think that this trailer sucks:
go watch the ME2 trailer from E3 2009: it isn't much different from this on
In fact in some way i think this one might even be better.
Let's hope that's a good sign for the inevitable launch trailer!
(Tip: search in youtube for "mass effect 3 piano" first result gives you a small sample of the ME3 OST ;) )
@mctaylor24
Wrex won't be a squad member, which is sad considering that James Vega essentially stole his slot.
@Moonlitdarksword I hope you remembered to keep the Genophage Cure on Mordin's Loyalty mission and make Liara the new Shadow Broker.
@theleontech1 Short? Did you do all the loyalty missions and/or side missions? ME1 clocks in at about 16-20 hrs for me, while ME2 clocked in at about 26-28 (counting DLC.) That's a pretty sufficient game time.

Gotta pre-order this masterpiece in the making ASAP.
@DevoidOfFeelings Hm...that's right. They most likely do have protection gainst that sort of thing, or else the game would be too short.....thank you.
The Reapers are like giant, robot tyranids. Both come from outer space, both have destroyed galaxies for millennia, both look a bit like bugs, both were stopped until the main force showed up etc.
Never understood why Earth is suddenly important in ME3. What's the loss of one planet next to the loss of the galaxy?

hopefully this will be a worthy successor to the amazing mass effect 2

But that aside,I can't wait for the game. March can't come any sooner.
@rtCirkus But why do we have to play as the humans in an alien invasion AGAIN? And why is it always a HUMAN that is the 'last hope' for the galaxy?
I get goose bumps every time Shepard says "We fight or we die..thats the plan."
@Yahi001 any way thanks for the long chating man i hope we see chat again in the launch trailer
@Betrion Well EA had their hands on Mass Effect 2 and that was pretty great.
@SpartanJ97 I just figured that out myself. Found a picture of him with information I probably should've checked first. Yeah it's Vanderloo.

Shepard: Wrex, we've been over this, you can't eat your way out of every problem
